My old 2007 F250 6.0L power stroke diesel is sick and having some rough idle issues when it warms up. It seems to run fine while driving, but a hot idle throws a P0263 Cylinder 1 Injector Circuit Contribution / Balance Fault. There is no check engine light lit, but the code is pending.
First we test the base engine by cranking it over by triggering the starter. Then I plug in my AutoEnginuity tool into my OBD2 port and laptop. I have the Ford Enhanced Bundle license with my copy which lets me perform the Enhanced Powertrain CAN functions.
The first AE test we performed was the KOEO (Key On Engine Off) test. Which completed successfully. Then we tried the Injector Buzz Test which also sounded fine to me. I cranked the truck up and ran the Power Balance test, which is known to be flawed in AE, mine looked ok on a cold engine. So I decided to run the KOER (Key On Engine Running) test a few times and eventually saw the code for cylinder 1 come back. After which the balance test looked rough.
