I just dealt with one of these on side of road. Just hooked my fuel pressure tester to Schrader valve. Put hose in a bottle. Cranked for a few minutes. Fired right up.
@spelunkerd
@spelunkerd 8 лет назад
Oh, I understand, you take the bleeder tool out after the high pressure side is cleared of air. Good idea! I was wondering how you'd seal it after, but that's not an issue if the device stays in your tool box. On a small diesel you just crack the threads for the each line and bleed it sequentially, one line at a time.
@briansmobile1
@briansmobile1 8 лет назад
+spelunkerd This is the same way, but access is difficult because the lines are under the valve cover. So this is a good work around.

Brian, so I made the tool put the hose on it and turned my ignition on. Lots of air, bubbles and then solid fuel for about 30 seconds or so. Do I just turn the ignition off, unscrew the adaptor and put the regular bolt back in? I can't get my vehicle to start.
@Scottthesigncrafter

Brian, what kind of adapter do you have to use your spill free funnel with stant adapters? Something you made?

Thanks for this great video! I have a 2016 ford f350 6.7 diesel. I bleed the air from the low pressure side from the fuel line near the fuel filter under hood. Still there are some air trapped in the high pressure section. Its different than your truck in this video. Any hint how I can do this on my truck to bleed the high pressure side?
@truemechanicsinc2406
@truemechanicsinc2406 8 лет назад
hey that is very cool I thought of making one similar to that but I was able to get ahold of a fuel pressure test kit which has the screw with the Schroeder valve on top overall everything I appreciate the video a lot because you did help explaining on how to bleed this I am still yes working on that truck and have actually had a diesel mechanic come and help me bleed every injector out and still nothing so tomorrow hopefully fingers crossed I have it running

Those hose fittings usually have NPT threads which i'm guessing is why you couldn't find a tap that fit.

Please help it all started a couple weeks ago I had a water pump go bad so I decided to do some other issues that I’ve been putting off. So I did the oil pan gasket the windage tray gasket and the water pump oil filter and fuel filters. I jacked the motor up to the tip of the motor mount studs and that was enough to get the oil pan in and out. After reassembly It started getting a p2291 ICP sensor lfrp and it shut off and so I replaced that as well. Again I started the truck and it idled for a few seconds and shit off again so I bled the system again and there was tons of air over and over and now it won’t even prime the upper filter I can’t figure where it could possibly be sucking that much air I’ve changed the lines from the lpfp to the lines that go to the filter housing up top and got nothing i dont know what to do besides drop the tank and chase the lines all the way up to the motor. When the truck would idle the fuel pressure was 28000 psi on the high side and 4.8-5.2 on the low side and the air got worse each time I primed it please help anything that may give me a idea to work towards I’d really appreciate it

if you went deeper into the fuel system, especially an injection pump you should keep the bleeder in and let it idle for a minute until all the air purges out.
@scott6418
@scott6418 7 лет назад
I might suggest, drill your first hole from the other side. Let the bolt hold the bit. And for 1/8 npt (pipe thread), the closest standard bit is 11/32. A set of taps can be purchased at harbor freight
@lestergross8959
@lestergross8959 8 лет назад
um I used to do road service on all thing diesel and the best way I found to to purge the fuel system of air was I had a 30 foot long 1/4 inch fuel line with a small in line fuel filter that I would plug the filter side of the fuel line in to any vacume port on my 350 gas chevy service truck engine the other end to the return line to the tank on the diesel then start the service truck up and let it idle till it looked like a smoke bomb then un hook everything and woo-la you good to go !!
@briansmobile1
@briansmobile1 8 лет назад
+Lester Gross That's pretty innovative!
@Docoski
@Docoski 8 лет назад
Brian, do you ever use a vacuum pressure tool on the 6.4? Aren't they known for cracking the front cover due to air in the coolant system? Or is that just a myth?
@briansmobile1
@briansmobile1 8 лет назад
+Docoski It's not a myth. I have a method I wherein I use pressure and then drop it. Then drive cycle it. It's lame to have to do it.

Hey Richard Medina, sorry I didn't get this posted faster to theskiviking channel, but I wanted to use more of the footage and do it right. That being said it used up my Sunday video editing time and became a Sunday video. The good news? I got to spend some time with my girls today for a change! Hopefully you've already got your 6.4L up and running anyway- if not, this should help and there's a link to Rusty's video on how to use it.

Is it possible to relocate the 99-03 7.3 fuel bowl to the side of engine? I want permanent access to the oil supply and hpop pump area and/but also want to keep the original fuel bowl. If this is possible it would eliminate having to remove the turbo and fuel bowl just to gain access to the IPR valve or hpop oil pump components on my 2002 7.3 box truck/VAN. PLEASE HELP 🙏 Also is there a kit out there to buy that does it?

Hi. Great video. Sorry to bother you sr. i have a question. I got my bolt in the mail and i'm ready to build the bleeder but i own a F-350 6.0 and it doesn't look the same. I can't seem to find the port where that bleeder would go. Can you shed some light into my ignorance? Where is that port on a 6.0.? Thanks for your time.
@scott6418
@scott6418 7 лет назад
Carlos Leon Completely different injection system. No need to bleed fuel, just cycle key a few times to refill filters. But you have to bleed the high pressure oil system if you've opened it. Stand pipes, stc fitting, hp pump, injectors, etc. Charge the batteries while your doing the job so they are plenty hot, then lots of cranking. Extended cranking then until it's driven and air is purged

For all the diverse stuff you do, have you ever considered getting a lathe? The hole would have been right through the center without any effort. You would be surprised how handy it is for making stuff like custom tools. Thanks, chris

mike church did you crack it loose then turn your ignition on a few times? Did it make a mess everywhere?
@mikechurch4703
@mikechurch4703 5 лет назад
Duetin.. That was the method I used. I gave it around 2 or 3 turns which was just enough to let the air escape yet not spray fuel everywhere. Once it started, I tightened the bolt as quickly as possible. While I did have a small amount of fuel escape, the mess overall was very limited.

you're not going to drill it like billstmaxx and run your press at the highest speed possible, put all your weight on the feed arm, have smoke come off the bit and use no oil, then call it a stupid thing when the bits destroyed and blame the manufacture for making a crappy drill? lol.
@briansmobile1
@briansmobile1 8 лет назад

@chris6200
@chris6200 8 лет назад
+briansmobile1 Hey Brian just a quick tip for staying centered instead of going for a pilot drill first start with a center drill its a real short bit that's really stiff so it won't bend and walk around like a regular twist drill. They're made for use in engine lathes and milling machines and come in lots of sizes
@dave1135
@dave1135 8 лет назад
+briansmobile1 lol, yep. I don't know if you watch him, but he is hell on drill bits. not dissing him, he's a great fabricator, makes cool things and is a awesome welder, but..the way he uses a drill...its tough to watch. I have bits I've had 20+ years, still as sharp as the day I got them.
