How to Bleed the Ford 6.4L Powerstroke Fuel System 

This video is really informative, detailed, and the instructor is articulate with his explanation. You get the sense that he enjoys educating people.

I need to do this on my truck. I bought a bleeder kit and we'll see how it goes. Kit was about 30 bucks on Amazon so definitely your set up was cheaper.

REAL BIG THX you saved my life….. really…. I replaced the fuel filters on my 2008 f-350… all the procedures are correct…..EXCEPT the no need to build your own “special tool” with all that. Here’s what I did to success; was instead of the fitting nut was not needed. After looking for diesel shops and even eBay it was obvious to me to find a hard plastic tube that would fit inside the treaded banjo nut was. I got the approximate plastic size tube that would fit inside the thread I used a little sand paper so it would snuggly fit in the threads by pushing and screwing the plastic tube inside and doing the rest of your video. IT WORKED AND VERTUALLY COST ME NOTHING. big thx man remember it’s only 12 p.s.i. so there’s no real pressure coming out of the tube into the container (static pressure that is…)🙂

I take the needle valve and put a clear hose. Same thing like you do but no nut needed.

Does the shop that you know of in Oklahoma sell those fittings? If so could you link it in your video

Hey - Great video. Excellent demonstration and explanation. Quick Q: Is this procedure necessary after changing the fuel filters? Or only after a more extensive fuel system job? Such as changing injectors/injector lines, obviously after any fuel pump work, etc.

I have this tool starts and runs fine but when I park for the night next morning there's air in system again. What cool it be?

Would I be able to find that fitting on line

use the schrader valve on the cooler that's what it for

Just happened the night my buddy was driving and didn’t look at the fuel ran out of fuel can’t get it to turn back over going back at it tomorrow with this method or the Schrader valve

Also don't forget to take the fuel tank filler cup off!! There might be vacuum in the tank, which I think sucks back the fuel, while changing the fitting on the cooler.

I’m currently trying to do this job and the last two I’ve done I’ve spent hours doing method and eventually it will fire in to life. There is no bleed valve that I know of

I I did this whole bleeding process and it'll crank but then dies. Everything has been replaced and double checked. I will crank it after I bled it and will still be full of air. Help!

Why not just leave the adapter fitting in place and just remove the brass hose barb fitting and replace it with a pipe plug?

What is the purpose of this ? Does it die if it catches air pockets ? Mine does and I can't find the problem !!

why not tape the original fitting and add a valve with barb on top that would stay on and apply a rubber cap to keep dust out.

I have bled my fuel system the same as described in the video and 2 hours later I have cycled 10 gallons of fuel and I am still getting large bubbles when I turn the key back on. Any suggestions?

surely you just open the bleed valve to bleed the system?

most people ive seen just just turn the key ten times 10 times before starting after fuel filter change or just open fuel bleed valve right next to that fuel line you stripped off ???

There’s something wrong with your fuel, it’s so clear and not red at all!
