What are you getting; Pre33 or Gold Bullion? Either way, I think you're ahead in life. Thanks for watching and check out this playlist below for more pre33 gold videos. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-wxK77I3GZGk.html
Mostly liberty eagles and half eagles. Got a few Indian half’s but they have gotten too expensive the last few years. Always in cardboard nothing graded , pretty sure most of mine would be considered jewelry grade. And yes I got modern bullion, eagles, Britannias, maples Never bars or rounds. I would be happy with some placer gold if I had the chance. Recently tried my hand at prospecting. No luck!!! I moved to Puerto Rico. There’s no real stacking community here that I’ve seen, but of course privacy is the rule here. My stacking days are over here. So when I visit the states, always on the lookout for a good deal. , cheers Campbell, your underrated in my opinion.
Short story you’ll find interesting. About 10 years ago or maybe more I had a half eagle Indian i picked up years earlier that I was looking to cash out of, took to a coin shop in Tennessee, after careful examining the dealer shook his head and told me it’s fake but real gold, asking me to come back next week, he was excited and we exchanged numbers and a week later i went back. Now two dealers and after examining my coin the oldest man says “ son you got yourself the best fake I’ve ever seen “ the man made me a offer I couldn’t refuse. I sold it. He claimed its nazi gold. I didn’t know what to think but the offer was too good and the stink he put the coin for me personally made it even easier to sell it. I don’t have pics or receipts so can’t prove it, but that’s what happened, I’ve often wondered if I made a mistake but in hindsight, i can’t in good conscience ever want to own such a thing.
Absolutely love pre-33 gold. I only have a few now, but the future is bright for more to land in my collection. Thanks for the insightful content as always…keep crushing it, brother 💪
I personally prefer modern bullions. I feel more confident when buying them I recognize them easily and would spot a fake immediately, plus there are not so many variables like with pre-33 coins. Above all I'm not a collector, just a stacker and modern bullions give me more security that I'll be able to re-sell them easily should I have to (I don't live in the US...). Thanks for your videos!
@@ardien.535 there is quite a few reputable coin shops near me in Massachusetts that sell for cheaper than SD bullion, just bought a gold Buffalo for $1,958 when it was listed for $2,007 on SD
It's a vast topic and I love these coins. I was listening to the editing and felt like I was droning on haha. Couldn't agree more, one really needs to know their stuff before jumping in. Thanks bro. BTW, I received your letter in Nov, but misplaced it. I found it and will add it in my next video. Wanted to let you know. Take care man.
Being a new stacker, I have not graduated to owning gold yet but I appreciate your video that explained several things I was not aware of. Particularly the grading of the coins.
Great informative video! Just look at the way the letters and the eagles were drawn on old coins, the detail and pride versus today tells you the whole story.
I was thinking about getting pre 33 but I will take your advice and hold off for now. I'll just watch prices and do my research. In the meantime I'll be looking for nice examples of the capped bust and other old coins. Great video.
On the selling end, bullion is so much easier. You know exactly what you're going to get with no haggling. Pre 33 is more than the spot price of the gold content as now you're dealing with numismatics. Local shops will only pay wholesale or less and going the auction route is time consuming with no guarantees how things will work out. Both are great but bullion is easier.
I watch Campbell, 2/1,and stormy, after years of stacking and watching, I have taken all my odd gold”IE” lmu’s, Perth mint, maples, britts ect and a lot of silver generics, and only have American bullion and pre 33, thanks Campbell for showing me the wisdom of pre 33 ( none of mine is graded, but I have them all checked by XRF)
It's amazing the differences between the pre33 gold coins. It is amazing the differences even between the same pre33 gold coin in hue as you mentioned.
Many thanks for your reporting . What a short educational video . I enjoyed the whole show and wish I knew 10 years ago . Sold some property and thinking of buying some gold and silver The uncertain times has us all concern . Seem like their is no Laws or Rules . Yippee ! Mad Max , here we come . 20 years ago I told a guy to buy gold or silver . He said he invested in Steel and Lead . I said "WHAT" He said Guns and Ammo , i said , "That will work , too.
I’m a mostly pre 65/33 stacker. Both the same reason. The 10 dollars face value is as far as I go because 20’s are way to expensive. And yea I got modern too but for different reasons. Your spot on Campbell.
When I purchased my first pre33 $2.50 Indian gold pieces I was so surprised by how small they were! The size of a u.s. dime.Lol.My next purchase was a little more substantial.I got 3 $10 Indians and those actually feel hefty and the history is the real value!!!
Still building the gold stack so at this juncture I'd have to take the two oz. Still pre 33 gold so freaking cool, some day I will get there for now just want to bring down a buffalo.
Pre 33 was nice when it was at melt or even under... and gold was under 1700 spot lol. Nowadays I stay away from it as it has premiums even higher than BU Eagles.
I really like pre 33 coins. I just ordered a $10.00 and $5.00 gold liberty eagles coins together from SD Bullion under $1900. not a bad deal considering gold is over $2000 an oz.
I just enjoy Pre - 33 since there's a Limited supply of them and considering their historical value and that the fact that most of these Pre - 33 gold coins were melted down due to President Roosevelt's executive order 1602. I do have some pre - 1933 gold like the $1 , 2.50 , $5 , skipped the $10 for some odd reason and went straight to the $20 gold coin. The one gold coin I treasure the most in my collection is my * 1915 * Saint Gaudens Gold Double Eagle.
Not only did the copper added to US coins it harden them it also kept people from melting them down. You would need to have the resulting melt refined to 999 in order to sell it. Roosevelt did not take all gold coins, each family member was allowed $100. in gold, but most families were poor due to the depression. If our country and others were to call in gold I believe it will be bullion coins, they ,most of them anyway have bizarre dollar amounts on them. $50.00 for an ounce? Is this in NEW Dollars??
You also forgot they paid around 20 for the gold then re valued it to over 30. They stole purchasing power from every person tjey stole gold from. Never again.
@@cland9189 I have. That is why I said that. Even more true now as bullion is getting back of spot at most dealers. Buying pre33 makes even more sense now.
What the heck was that @5:05 I was watching your video in a public place and right when that s&m looking weirdo was shown in the video some people walked by and saw what I was watching. Kind of made me look like I was watching something inappropriate for the area. I had to quit watching the video at that point. 🥴
By the way what I've been trying to find confirmation on what are the impurities and pre 33 gold? See normally gold copper and silver are diet magnetic. But when it comes to pre 33 goal that is supposed to be ever so slightly repelled by a magnet because it is made up of 90% called and 10% copper. But when I do the test to see if it's paramagnetic or diamagnetic the test seems to indicate that it is paramagnetic. My conjecture is that it has a little bit of iron ore nickel in it, just enough just enough to not only counteract the diet magnetic tendencies but cause the coin to be slightly attracted to the magnet as if it was paramagnetic. I've done this test with quite a bit of different gold that is the newer gold. And they all test out just fine.
It would depend, if a single coin cost this much compared to spot price bullion coins. It would depend on the coin. I would want both though, just in case the price of gold grows enough so one bullion coin cost the same, as spot price goes up, premium coin premiums go down.
Very enjoyable show. Love Pre 33. I believe the Krugerrand was originally made for circulation. No denomination imprinted, so that the value could fluctuate with the market.
Excellent video, very informative, thank you. I love Pre33 Gold, but I think that Gold Bullion, especially Gold American Eagles, are way easier to move, they are highly liquid!!
Not even a second thought on this one…the government bullion (Eagles). Never, ever, liked those old slabbed coins, whether they be Gold or Silver. I want something that everyone recognizes, and feel confident, and comfortable buying.
Just bought my first Pre33 Double Eagle Saint. It is slabbed and graded MS63 by NGC. As I do not love the slabs I am thinking of removing it. What do you think about that?
Congrats on your first Saint! If you're not a fan of slabs, why did you buy one in a slab? You could have bought a raw pre 33 Saint for hundreds less. Slabs do a few things: when you go to sell, it shows the buyer this piece is authentic (not always but generally speaking). It protects the coin from wear/tear and the elements. And it allows you to handle the coin without potentially lowering the value of it. It's your coin and you're free to do what you want, if you want it out of the slab, take it out. But since you asked, I'd leave that coin in the slab and buy a raw Saint. Taking it out of the slab will dramatically lower the value for you in the immediate future. If you bought this particular coin because it looks nice and you wanted a nice looking coin, just be really careful when you're breaking it out of the slab.
The US Govt WOULD need to pay you fair market value for coins that sell for a premium, which is why so many pre33 coins were not required to be surrendered. You could keep 5 ozt of any gold coin and you could keep coins that had special collector value. Most people did not read the executive order in 1933 and turned in more than they had to. But the Federal Govt was not about to go into the coin business. They were only interested in coins that traded at bullion prices, less the five ounce exemption.
I do love the look of pre-33 coins, the gold has a visual look that can only be had from the age of it's creation, not that modern gold isn't beautiful, its luster say's " I am new". Both have there appeal and are worthy of ditching fiat.
As an investor I am mostly interested in bullion. I have thought about buying some new coins from the us mint just to have something nice to look at even though there is a high premium. I think of those coins as something between bullion and jewelry because they do have some aesthetic value beyond spot
Thank you .I have been collecting graded gold silver platinum palladium coins since 2003 .I don't know if I am ahead or behind I would like to know if I have been doing the right thing. I have a large collection most are 70 condition
If your collecting to not sell and hand down then pre 33, if your stacking to one day sell than bullion. Pre 33 you have to find buyers not sell at a lcs or gold buyer. They won't give you nothing g but weight.
I have one Pre 33 so far a 1914 $2.50 Indian Head-PCGS AU58. It’s the second rarest year. I really love the unique incuse design. It’s definitely my favorite Gold coin. I think having Gold Bullion is really important though for when you need money fast. In my own experience when it comes to speed of sale Gold and Silver Bullion move way faster than collectible coins. My Silver Libertads are sitting on EBay collecting dust. I sold a 1921 Peace Dollar MS 62 on EBay and lost money.
My coin shop has tried to get me interested in pre-33, but I’m not savy enough to make a smart buy. With the economy on shaky ground, I’d rather have bullion that’s easy to value and buy. Just me though…
I have mixed feelings. I really love both my Gold Buffalo and my 1909 Gold $5 half eagle. Sometimes, I buy fractional bars to stack. Sometimes I buy various gold coins (commems, European Francs, Pre-33 coins, etc) to collect.
Your take on Lynette and her Confiscation reasoning ("Uncle Al" story), is "Spot"-On IMO.👍 I too like her info/channel, i just can't stand how often the fear mongering topic comes up there. 😉🤠✌️ I like pre-33 for the artistic beauty and antiquity. Feeling something in my hands from the 1800s/Early 1900s and wondering where it has traveled is uniquely satisfying.
Yes! Exactly. Good ole' Uncle Al. She brings to much awareness and has helped a lot of people. I don't think her information is wrong, one just becomes numb to it because it's yet another thing horrible wrong with the economy. Thanks for watching!
The same reason i only stack pre 65 silver. Prep stack. Why does anyone accumulate anything! Pre prepare for bad times. Pre 33 pre 65. Its my savings account. My investments are there for a different purpose. That purpose is to double my money. My savings is for when im old and slow.
so with pre 33. what is the preferred coin to get a few of? id like some just cuz they are neat but im not sure how to go about them like the francs which also look cool to have.
It depends on the owner. If you don't really care about design, go for the coin/year/mint that is popular with folks. This way, if you need to sell, there are a lot of buyers itching to get it.
The pre 33 has numismatic and metal value but I would say both haha bc I’m A stacker but I do like my numismatics as well. I love pre 33 but I buy the $20 saints, libertys and the $10 Indian and liberty only and I prefer them Raw in high grade
Brokers must report anything cash related over $10k, so while you might not be reported for selling 25 double eagles, you either take a check or wire from the dealer and thus a paper trail back to the broker, or you take cash and get reported anyways.
ANACS has been around 45 years and is still getting shafted by videos like this who don't mention them as a legitimate Numismatic service. What gives?!? Especially when CAC has only been around since 2007.
On the confiscation thing, even the 1933 confiscation. Executive Orders by the president only apply to certain classes of "Person". Executive Order 6102 required all persons to deliver on or before May 1, 1933. You are not a person under the Act -- if a natural person, may be imprisoned for not more than ten years, or both; and any officer, director or agency of any corporation who knowingly participates in any such violation may be punished by a like fine, imprisonment, or both. The types of persons being referred to are statutory persons, even the so called Natural Person is a legal entity under that cannon of construction. The president cannot order you to do jack shit.
