I loved Soken before this performance, but this moved him into “True Legend” status. He must be protected at all costs.

This was such a great moment, but it was rather bittersweet. The next day he had announced he had been battling cancer since before 5.3 was released. I remember how shocked everyone was in the livestream. Glad to see him doing a lot better these days. He has a true gem. Also, Keiko (The pianist) was a pure professional during all of this.

Her face is the best thing in an already amazingly, hilarious performance.

Soken does these silly performances at every Fanfest. My personal favorite is when he came out dressed like Elidibus and accompanied the Amdapor theme by kicking a box with bells taped to it.

And remember. Japanese culture is, to my understanding, a lot about public perception and 'face' -- Shame and embarrassment are anathema and to be avoided. The sheer balls to look silly on stage and not give a damn, and in fact, totally 100% commit to it, is incredibly impressive.

The fact that people like Soken are willing to get on the stage at FanFest and do ridiculous stuff like this or the Twinning-Meme-Dance (and don't forget that Japanese culture, afaik, has rather strict views on the importance of keeping up a respectable public appearance) tells you a lot of things about this dev-team and all those things are great. Now, sure, when Blizzard devs go on stage, they might get laughed at as well, but that's usually for different reasons... Honestly though, the best thing about this is that that poor woman on the piano seems like she wasn't informed about this AT ALL :D

I was up till 4am watching the entire fanfest, I’ve never watched the Primals concert after and it was a real joy. I was ugly laughing with tears at this. Then this hits even harder after they all get up on stage for closing and Soken reveals to everyone he was battling cancer and composing music from a hospital bed. This was the performance he chose to come back with 😭😭😭 it was so amazing
