I'm gonna reiterate a point that Asmon made when he watched this: The hardcore fashionistas got their good looking glam through achievements. This means that in order to look fly as fuck, they played, learned, and mastered ALL of the content in the game, regardless if they hate the content or not. If shit looks good, you bet your ass that they're gonna run the content it's locked behind.
Especially those insane fashionista's who got top 100 in feast pvp on their datacenter JUST to get the limited seasonal armor and weapons. Like they dont even give a shit about PVP or like it, but they out perform dedicated pvp focused players just for those glams.
They also spend a crapton on the Mogstation for the imported Korean and Chinese outfits, single handedly offsetting the F2P players. Usually just for the shoes or a hat, though, because a lot of the dyable savage gear looks pretty darn good.
Complains about mouse onscreen. STILL HAS BARS UNLOCKED so we're CONSTANTLY hearing that damn squeak and click every fucking time he clicks something on his hotbars. THE LOCK ICON IS ON THE RIGHT, MAN, IT'S NOT HARD TO FIND
@@kmurphy0620 Plus they don't need the Novice Network because they have their own built-in mentor system courtesy their viewers... whether they want it or not. The risk of streaming.
I'm about 10 days into the game. sprouting away and get an invite to the novice network. I left after 2 days because some of the mentors were treating that thing like a trade chat argument forum. some mentor jerk even went as far as to type out how to leave the novice network when some of us sprouts mentioned it was getting a little toxic and nasty in there.
He forgot the ultimate tier. The fashionistas of FFXIV that don't use mods and create glamour sets that are all comprised of different armor pieces from different sets but make it look like they are wearing a full set the whole time.
The question will always be, is it a serious video or not, in terms of Mentors. The few years i've played FF on and off has always been difficult to figure stuff out, but the Mentors has always been there to assist me and they have legit helped me appreciate the game and how good it is and helped me become a better player that now dare to do things like raids, etc 🤔
It's a hit or miss with whoever you run into I feel... Some just want to be mentor for the crown and the status. Some want to legitimately help. And some just become mentor because they want that mount reward you receive for clearing a mentor roulette serveral times and are more in a rush getting that mount rather than legitimately helping players that need their guidance.
The mentor chat on my server is run by a toxic dude that will publicly berate anyone that disagrees with his methods. If the guy is giving bad advice to newbies and anyone tries to correct him, it turns into a slugfest immediately. It's pretty bad lol
@@Gofr5 i feel like they should implement a system where players can send feedback/ratings on how helpful they found a mentor after clearing an instance. It would probably help a lot with getting rid of the toxic ones.
I am that guy that goes belly every time. there is literally no reason not to do it. Just like people other than alliance C can get chains....but god that is too hard to ask for
He's mad of something so little as mouse cursor because he's actually the people that Misshapen mention this guy is mad but doesn't want to show it so he just talks about his little cursors showing off the video is not even about any gameplay or cutscenes that Misshapen want to show its about FFXIV Social Hierarchy..It was nice watching his past videos but now he looks like a clown trying to hold his anger back by making excuses
Your very first “Doom” encounter you aced, in Sunken Temple of Qarn. Moral enough you stated, pardon my paraphrase, “I don’t know what I’m doing,” or something like that. But didn’t die to that first doom 😎😎😎
Preach has single digit IQ take on shower sex. Anyone who complains about it doesn't know how to move a shower head slightly off-center and has never heard of a persona lubricant. Or I suppose has a massive height discrepancy with their partner. Either way - bad take
How do you go through ARR all the way to the end of EW and not know what a sprout/mentor/returner icon is it's impossible to play through the whole game without running into one
Been playing two years and I just learned what the returner icon is. :P Considering I play mostly solo, and I a am not a returner so why would I even have it to begin with... It's not as uncommon as you think. Hell, I didnt even know there was a special channel for sprouts till after I lost my sprout icon. :P The game is big with a lot of information in it to digest. I think he's allowed a few derp moments like the rest of us.
I didn't know because I just ignore the icons lol. I also skip all the cutscenes and can't tell you half of the names of the places in the game I've been or what the story is about. I just like doing the content.
I laugh because I am almost the top according to this guy. My glam needs to be just right (working on that right now for Ultimate tomorrow oh yeah). As I was watching this I was redecorating my house. Still thinking how to optimize the fights of Asphodelos on my other jobs. Parses aren't as good as they could be though, need to work on that.
yes mentor hate is a meme, there are few actually stupid mentors and people like to blow it out of proportion for a joke. Im convinced chair tried to become a mentor and failed, that is why he is so salty about mentorship. it is locked behind commendations afterall.
I've always seen mentor hate as less about their ability and more about their pretentious stubbornness, just go into novice network and try to get help and you'll feel foolish, and I'm a mentor so I have some self awareness...
Watching every stream Mike does i am absolutely CONVINCED that the mentors aren't the problem. It's the people who shout pepega or "mentors out again" or "do as I say streamer pepega" for minutes and minutes on end after everything else already died down. God those people are the worst
@@TheSilverwing999 The mentors have never been a problem, neither on stream nor ingame. It's just that everything they do is under some weird kind of hyperfocus by the community, who imposes all sorts of arbitrary expectations on them and then calls them shit when they don't live up to them. The mentor system exclusively exists to help newbies with simple game knowledge and support; stuff like "how can I buy a chocobo", "where do I get more venture coins", "I keep running out of MP as a healer, help!" or "can a mentor tank help speed up my story dungeon queue pls?" and so on. Instead, the community expects them to perform perfectly in endgame content that has literally nothing to do with helping newbies, and any small mistake gets completely blown out of proportion. Yeah sure, there are a few people who might give genuinely bad advice, but they are a minority, and the job of mentors is, in the first place, not really about complicated endgame advice anyways.
Yup. But I'm also addicted to trying to Solo Place of the Dead, creating clothing, Story content, and not very good at high-level raids. The last time I tried to do a raid when it was current contact was 2.0.
Despite being being funny af overall, I'll never be able to get over how awkward the mentor part is, having seen the crappier players in my FC show up with their burger crown at some point. You know, the people who wait two years to clearcheese the extremes from the previous expansion. It's almost unsettling how some people can be openly proud of that and go about offering "advice". It actually bothers me a bit.
@@hermespymander9167 That is indeed quite suggestive. Frankly, I actively avoid mentors, which doesn't mean much of a thing since I'm not into buddy-buddy stuff, and dislike organizing things (battle content-wise) when there are much more capable groups I can just join, with proper leadership.
@@hermespymander9167 Yoship has stated before that they WOULD raise the requirements for mentorship, but too many western mentors would not even be able to meet the requirements for that compared to the JP playerbase.... -___-
@@manbearpigsereal It is for no reason. I'm a mentor, I have the Astrope mount, that means I've done thousands of mentor rouletrtes. 99% of mentors are perfectly fine. 99% of mentors are gamers who are ready for anything and yes they will clear those sprouts through Ramuh ex. People who bash on mentors have no idea what they'e talking about.
Considering when I unretired from the game the first thing I did before endwalker was unlock the last tier of eden savage so I could get pieces for my caster glam, I feel slightly uncomfortable being put at the very top of a pyramid. I just like looking good and want to make sure I'm not holding anyone back with bad play.
I know this is meant to be a memey video, but does the guy not realize a huge number of raiders enjoy the other aspects of 14. I love savage and tackling ultimates, but i also love the story and heck i even dabble in RP.
“I’m not exactly sure what attracts people to the status of mentor” Just a 20% xp buff no big deal……..I don’t think this guy even knew that’s a thing 🤦🏻♂️Also the chat is hilarious and always super active. I’ve missed it ever since I lost my sprout status and got the giant boot.
The mentor chat on our server is toxic af. It's completely run by one asshat that will publicly berate anyone else that dares to disagree or question his methods and advice. It's so bad.
@@Gofr5 on mine there was one guy that was saying crap like “the job you’re playing is trash that’s your problem. What a dumb question”. Being super toxic and saying people’s questions were stupid. The other mentors said some joke like “hey (name) in this game what is something that’s dumb and annoying but easy to deal with?” then when he said he didn’t know they just said “you!” and booted him. He tried to rejoin a few times after the 3 hour lockout time and they were like “welcome bacckk!!! We missed you so much!” then kicked him again. After a few days he gave up. Bad mentors can also be reported in game and square will deal with them just not as quickly. I guess YMMV depending on your realm.
