Preaching the Importance of Avian Nutrition With Dr. Jason Crean 

My avian veterinarian (and all of his associates) insist that all species of birds should eat an all or mainly pellet diet. I understand this generic, welfare recommendation for the general client who has zero interest in learning and feeding fresh. BUT, I really don't understand this set-in-stone philosophy when discussing diet with me. I'm asking for recommendations for fresh and any specific ideas for my particular species of parrot and I can't spark any bit of interest/conversation with any of these vets who have decided to devote their careers to pet birds because they love birds. It's so ironic that it boggles the mind. So glad I have been following Dr. Becker's advice for my dogs for a decade and now have found Dr. Crean so I can be a better parrot owner. Healthy parrots literally glow in sunlight.

I have been studying animal nutrition and really enjoyed this interview. I raised and trained large dogs the "conventional" way but have gravitated towards the holistic way for myself, my husband and for our Labs. I am now studying about raw food diet for dogs.
