Classic! R.I.P. Kevin Peter Hall (predator/helicopter pilot) dying at 35 from AIDs related pneumonia after a bad blood transfusion during surgery after a car accident 😔. Such a sad story.

Predator is a classic! An extremely high-grossing film at the box office. If I remember correctly, it was the top grossing action film that year. Great reaction, Robert and Vanessa. I hope you two are doing well!

I read the novel for this when the movie came out. The reason the predator doesn't trip the trip wires at night because it's vision augmentation could see the metal trip wires. It's why the trip wires work when made from vines.

Masterpiece of action ensemble casting. Imitated ever since, but never replicated.

One of the reasons that this movie is so good is because Jesse Ventura is an actual ex Navy Seal. He had to be consulting on the military operations aspects.

As far as filmmaking, I love the opening 'cause it shows you an alien might be around but you forget about it til 1/2 the movie is thru.

I'm glad they don't reveal too much about the Predator in this movie. They say less is more. The less you know about the creature, the scarier he becomes. But this works twofold. The less we know about the Predator, the more the audience wants to learn more about it. What exactly makes this Predator tick? This is probably why this has such a huge fan base and why it's become a great cult classic! -OG

I remember first seeing the guy that played Billy another movie. He was in 48 Hours with Eddie Murphy and Nick Nolte. During the filming of this movie I think I remember hearing that they had to get the actor a bodyguard because everyone else was afraid of him. The actor in the Predator costume was Harry in Harry and the Henderson's and I believe he passed away from AIDS in the early 90's

I've always used the scene where they mag dump the jungle as an allegory to how I mow my lawn.

Have to admit being on several helicopter rides there's a bit of a rush of adrenaline you get when your flying in a Huey with the doors open the pilot is flying at tree top level as fast as the chopper will go and the ONLY thing keeping you secure is a two inch wide canvas belt

Predator mimicking and taunting Dutch's men is not only intimidating 😳 but downright scary, too. Especially when the Predator uses Billy's laugh at the end of the film before the Predator nuked himself! -OG

MY #1 FAVORITE ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER MOVIE!! Facts you didn't know about the movie: Jean Claude van Damme played the Predator in some parts of the movie, but quit production as he was tired of wearing the original suit, which looked like a lizard insect hybrid. He even wanted to kickbox Arnold but the producers refused. Kevin Peter Hall, RIP, was cast as the titular character as he was more of an intimidating opponent for Arnold's character, Dutch. The PREDATOR suit was designed by Oscar Winning VFX company Stan Winston Studios. He would later return to the franchise for PREDATOR 2 in 1990. Half the cast and crew got food poisoning except for Arnold and Director McTiernan whom ate Spaghetti O's and PBJ Sandwiches. Schwarzenegger would later hire his own personal Chef to give the actors the food they needed. No hot meals were allowed due to the heatwave in Mexico so they ate protein bars instead. It was 110 degrees in the shade while it was 42 degrees at night, which was caused by 2 weeks of rain, making it even more difficult. The producers hired a bodyguard to protect people from Sonny Landham, RIP, whom played Billy as he was prone to violent outbursts. Landham said in an interview that, "We weren't making a movie it was a survival story for all of us." The scene where the stuntman falls off the cliff and lands in the water blew out his kneecap. Shane Black, whom played Hawkins, had rewritten parts of the action scenes for the film. While they were filming, he was writing the script to Lethal Weapon, then wrote the scripts to Lethal Weapon 2, The Last Boy Scout, Last Action Hero, The Long Long Kiss Goodnight, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang (directed as well), IRON MAN 3, and THE PREDATOR in 2018 The film was a box office success making $100 million dollars against an $18 million dollar budget. It was nominated for Best Visual Effects but lost to InnerSpace. It's regarded as one of the best Sci-fi Action movies ever made.

OMG, so it's been a while since I last saw this movie, but I never realized the Hopper/Hawkins connection, LOL! In college, everytime I would walk into someone's dorm room, I'd go "knock knock", LOL! I also used to say that line, "I ain't got time to bleed" quite often too. Ironic Dillon tells Dutch he's an expendable asset and many years later, Schwarzenegger joins The Expendables franchise, LOL! I saw Predator in the theater. I know many people say either this movie or True Lies is their favorite Schwarzenegger movie, but mine is actually Eraser. I never saw his movie, Maggie or Around the World in 80 Days. Sabotage was pretty good, but I thought could've been better. I thought The Last Stand, The 6th Day and Collateral Damage are all pretty underrated.

The first time I saw predator, I don’t remember if I saw it on HBO or I rented it but I do remember the first time I saw previews for it, it was on ABC’s good morning America in the summer of 87. I was 11 years old. The scenes they showed were when they invaded that sort of military compound with that awesome gun fight. Strange thing is I’m not sure why I missed this in the theater I mean I saw RoboCop, Masters of the universe, and the monster squad at the movies, but not predator? Talk about a missed opportunity that I regret to this day. It’s always great watching these first time watching reactions. You guys are a lot of fun. Vanessa looks like she’s having a good time. What would’ve made this even better is if you guys were eating popcorn. I love popcorn.

fun reactions. This movie was officially my first solo rated R movie; saw it opening weekend in NYC. Still a top 5 favorite of mine. On Predator 2, Arnold did not return as he felt his character was written too fascist (he is extremely averse to those role types for obvious reasons), the role was renamed Peter Keys ; I'm sure you'll know when the time comes.

Great reaction❤ all-time classic and to think how close it was to being a complete bomb because of the first design of the predator.

Fun fact: in the TV edit of the movie, when the Predator removes its mask it cuts from Dutch saying "You're one ugly mother-" to the Predator's howl in order to avoid the f-word.

Fun Fact: Jesse Ventura was delighted to find out from the wardrobe department that his arms were one inch bigger than Arnold Schwarzenegger's. He suggested to Schwarzenegger that they measure arms, with the winner getting a bottle of champagne. Ventura lost, because Schwarzenegger had told the wardrobe department to tell Ventura that his arms were bigger. You're going to have to get up much earlier in the day to get one over a professional practical joker. Don't Drink It Fact: The Predator's blood - a goopy substance with the color of Mountain Dew - was made on-set using a mixture of the liquid from inside glow sticks and KY Jelly. Practical Effect Fact: The invisibility cloaking effect was achieved with a bright red suit (because it was the farthest opposite of the green of the jungle and the blue of the sky) the size of the Predator. The red was removed with chroma key techniques, leaving an empty area. The take was then repeated without the actors using a 30% wider lens on the camera. When the two takes were combined optically, the jungle from the second take filled in the empty area. Because the second take was filmed with a wider lens, a vague outline of the alien could be seen with the background scenery bending around its shape.

My first time watching Predator was during the Pandemic. Me and my dad watched it together, because I was a bit nervous going thinking this might be bit scary of me, but I came out really enjoying it so much. See for me I prefer Predator over Alien. Alien just freaks me out and gives me anxiety 😱

The producer of Stranger things are Predator fans... That's why in their show they use the name Jim Hopper and Hawkins as a tribute to this film

R.I.P. Kevin Peter Hall. He was involved in a car accident. Had to get blood to save his life. He was given tainted blood with the H.I.V. Kevin later died of A.I.D.S. as a result. Very tragic. 😥 -OG

Nobody seems to understand billy. He was native anerican which was why he was also the tracker. The necklace he kept squeezing was a medicine bag. Very important talisman to a native. He sensed it before they saw it bc natives are sposed to have that ability, plus in tune with nature. His sacrifice was a warrior thing. About meeting a worthy adversary hand to hand. Idk whst the symbolism of cutting his chest but pretty sure there is one. Billy was one of the very few native characters in movies that wasnt ABOUT natives. So an important character.

I think this is such a unique film. It starts out as a typical 80s war movie and then changes genre and becomes a horrific gore monster film that also happens to be an extraterrestrial! -OG

The helicopter pilot is the predator! He had a speaking word as the pilot, to get a film acting credit!!

This was SO SATISFYING to watch! Seeing you, Vanessa, finally catch up with all the pop culture stuff regarding Predator, obviously not to mention enjoying the movie itself. That, and your laughter, serotonin straight to my brain. Seeing this as a kid, I didnt appreciate it as much as watching it later on, the tension, the character arcs, the fact that these SUPER BADASS dudes are faced with something that's inconceivably stronger than they are. Ahh, and yeah as Robert said, every time I hear that iconic theme, just pure nostalgia. Really glad you enjoyed it Vanessa and really looking forward to the sequel reactions. Although, Im not sure how I feel about Requiem..., but lol, I guess that'll be entertaining too. Thanks for the great reaction!

Arnold was a big 💪 action star in the 80s. Literally. It seemed impossible to get a good villain to match the likes of Arnold when you know Arnold can snap him in two like a twig. That's why this movie rocks. You're actually not entirely sure he will make it. Finding 7' 3" tall actor Kevin Peter Hall to play the Predator was perfect! Kevin Peter Hall has also starred in playing Bigfoot in Harry and the Henderson's! Great film. -OG

Van Damme was replaced by another actor named Kevin Peter Hall who was stand 7Ft 2Inches tall. KPH did a cameo as the helicopter pilot at the end of the movie. As you stated here, KPH played "Harry" aka Bigfoot in Harry and the Hendersons.

Billy Sole was played by Wlliam M. Landham aka Sonny Landham. Speaking of Prey, Billy by Sonny was Native American of Cherokee and Seminole. I think he stated main character was going to be Native American, but they changed the storyline. Prey is 300+ years ahead of this movie, 1987.

U will never see a cast like this again! Bald black guy was a Juliard classically trained actor and stage actor. Did some great movies. He was in American Jiggolo and Arnold's movie, Commando! That movie also is where the term," Let's Party!" Comes from! Jesse was a freak...bigger and taller than Arnold, and a ex CIA contractor, and for the military. The Indian guy, was such a wildman, he had 24 hour security escort. Not to protect him, but to keep him out of trouble!😮😮😮 Also there's a larger tie in here. The prequel to all Alien movies is Prometheus. If u remember the first Alien movie, they come into a spacecraft, with a very large chair in it, and a body in it, with it's chest blown out. In Prometheus, these beings are called Engineers. Engineers go to planets and seed a life form. Then watch it. If it doesn't proceed the way they like, they seed another life to destroy the first, and then kill each other off. Engineers are responsible for Aliens, humans, and supposedly Predators, and gave humans the technology for Replicants and Terminators!! In case u don't know, Replicants are from the Bladerunner Universe.

And there was never another Predator related movie made ever again. The End.

Backstory of Predator, his species are known as Yautja. Yautja are warring species that hunts for their trophies and honor their clans. This one has traveled to Earth for his hunting expeditions. Based on his gadgets, this Predator aka young adult Yautja is an experienced hunter went on his hunt knowing jungle area in Central America is prime location for trophies.

Watching prey before predator ruins the tension this movie gives you.

damn fine movie. Shame about Prey. I disliked it so much I walked out of the theater and snuck into the random movie next door. I caught the end of it on TV with my 8 year old godson. He got so bored he was just fiddling with his shoelaces. Couldnt even keep the attention of a child. After watching Predator - a masterpiece - to think that a Predator in the old west who sees in THERMAL imagining couldnt see a booby trap made of COLD water and when a fully trained Mr. Universe sized commando named Arnold couldnt beat the Predator but a 19 year old girl with no training, no bulk couldnt beat a Predator that can beat grizzly bear with its bare hands and be quicker than a rattlesnake was incredibly dumb.

The way you're pronouncing Arnold Schwarzenegger's name, he used to get in people's faces for mispronouncing it that way.
