Almost 40 years have gone by and I still find myself quoting lines from this film. Saw it in the theater with my Dad and sister. Fun memories.

😌 This one finally won. This came out the year I was born. This was the first movie I saw that made me cry. In my child imagination I thought he was real and I wished and prayed I had a friend like him because I was very misunderstood and lonely as a child 😞 Movies and shows were my outlet to make me feel safe. Definitely has a special place in my heart ❤️ love part 2 😁

Loved this movie as a kid! I used to flip out when the tristar logo with the flying horse came on since more often than not it meant Short Circuit was about to play on TV. Short Circuit 2 was definitely my favorite and more kid friendly, I think.

@10:04 Beasley is supposed to have only three legs, but the dog that played him actually had four legs. There are a couple of times that you can see him clearly holding his left front leg all the way up. In this part, when he jumps into Stephanie’s arms, his leg comes out instinctually, creating a minor film flub.

Rob had to pull out his inner thespian when “Johnny 5” was being shot at. I loved the sigh and fake sad face at the end. 🤣🤣 Both Short Circuit films hold a lot of nostalgia for me (80s baby). However, I also like Short Circuit 2 more it deals with relationships, humanity, and has a bit more gravitas to it.

In France French the word "gosse" is a popular slang term for "kid", but in Quebec French it typically refers to, well, a testicle. So when 12-year-old me watched this movie with a France-French dub, I was quite puzzled as to why that general was suddenly talking about having 3 testicles.

Short Circuit 2 is my all time favorite movie as a kid. Holding Out For a Hero chase scene is the best. People back then didn't care, it was only in the 90s when people were complaining about Fisher Stevens. But Stevens is a a great actor regardless. We need a third film.

A movie you need to see is "Remo Williams" the adventure begins. Joel Grey's performance was amazing. You'll understand why I'm saying that if you ever watch it.

Number 5 is alive!!! Definitely looking forward to this one! 😊 I haven't seen this movie in so long. But I'll always remember Number 5. And loving Steve Gutenberg and Ally Sheedy. I kinda remember the sequel. Some great movie recommendations if one or neither of you have seen them yet: The Outsiders, The original Karate Kid trilogy, Dirty Dancing, Ghostbusters(1984) and Ghostbusters 2, and The Breakfast Club. 😊

I was about 4 when I saw this in the late 80s and feel I love with Number 5. Short Circuit 2 for me is just that little bit higher because I saw trailers on the tv and other vhs tapes building the hype for the second film.

I LOVED this movie. one of my all time faves growing up. Man i feel old. The second one i found just as good.

Growing up in the 90s I actually watched a lot of sequels first such as Die Hard 3, Indiana Jones 3. Short Circuit 2 I saw first so I do think that movie is better than the original.

Some great lines in this movie (though Vanessa's 'boring conversation anyway ' deep cut wins!) But film doesn't sit well with me - it's clearly a family movie but peppered with unnecessary swearing which gives the film an uneven tone but overall, a really fun adventure. Wait... if this is Vans FIRST time watching this movie... Then your gonna have to do Short Circuit 2! Yey! Location Location Fact: Filmed in the town of Astoria, OR, where also The Goonies (1985) and Kindergarten Cop (1990) were filmed. Stephanie's (Ally Sheedy) house still exists and is located in Astoria, OR. In November of 2019 it sold for $340,000. Casting Notes Fact: In this film and Short Circuit 2 (1988), Johnny 5's voice was provided by puppeteer Tim Blaney. This casting decision was made due to the director's belief that real-time interaction with the robot prop would make the interaction seem more natural on-screen than if they edited his voice in during post-production. Movie Magic Fact: Many of the little tricks done by Johnny 5 (Tim Blaney) on-screen (like flipping through book pages in a blink of the eye and tossing a washer into the air in a mimic of a scene from an old gangster movie he saw) were done using relatively simple, yet ingenious slight-of-hand prop effects. For instance, the pages were flipped using an air hose, while the washer was flipped using a piece of string at both ends sideways. Even though I realize that Ben's character is problematic, and that Fisher Stevens regrets playing the role, I just can't deny that he gets some of the best lines in the whole movie.
