Cool shit.. Im running a "bone stock" Predator with free-mods (ported intake box, ported jet, ported stock ehaust lol) on a 1970 El Tigre minibike :). Havent run the bike in a year, but im going to be using it as my after work stress reliever this summer haha. Im running the stock gov and everything, I actually like hitting the gov.. feels like hitting fuel cut on a big turbo car.. just a cool feeling. I have a spare 160cc that I kinda want to build up to a 8000rpm for some reason.
I installed the same kit on my mini bike a while ago but lost top speed by about 5 mph, the acceleration is very fast but doesn't have a high top speed anymore, do you know why is lost this top speed?
Love the videos! Just wondering if you have installed an electric start on the 212 predator yet cant seem to find much about it. Thanks keep up the good work!
if your looking for speed racing clutch and a smaller sprocket plz!!! if u want just acceleration slap a heavy torque converter on there and add weight .
I’m guessing you took the governor off to clock out 38? I wanna do that but I’m nervous I’ll screw up or not find a way to seal up the hole from the arm that you have to take out.. any videos y’all would recommend or tips to remove a governor please tell me!!
the billet flywheel makes huge power and advances timing, and I would use the T.A.V 30 series, strong and fast however the acceleration may be affected, depending on the sprocket size 54mph on my predator and it still has governor on, it shits and gets with tav 30 series 6" driver pulley and flywheel, much better of a ride.
I've got a 212 on a mud boat, I plan on getting this kit with a 8° timing advance key 18 pound valve spring and getting rid of the govenor....My question is what is a safe max rpm before a billet flywheel is MANDATORY?
Good idea on the billet flywheel and the heavier valve springs doing top end work to this motor can make it a great kart motor. I'm really interested to see where you take this kart. Does it feel structurally sound enough to support some higher speeds? This may be a strange question but steering dampers - are these relevant for karts? Is there a way to have some stability in your steering system what with it having no suspension, very little weight over the front wheels and everything you want to trust your steering so you can start having some real fun on a paved surface with a kart like yours.
when those clutches get dirty after use. they stick. if you take the clutch apart. you can clean it out. it will prob be ok. a better clutch might b a goid plan for the future anyhow. id clean and save the old clutch
Sand the pads and the bell too! I would really like to see you put a TC on it though. How many tooth clutch and sprocket do you use? I am running a 12t clutch with a 60t sprocket and I get 44.6mph (#35 chain). I have a stock predator 212 with gov removed and a homemade header made from 1/2" galvanized water line! This is on a one wheel peel manco 2 seater. I lose and break chains all the time and it doesn't like to turn left while accelerating because the torque from the left drive wheel tries to push the front of the kart to the right. Fun stuff though!
And because of my luck with everything, the stock parts were a pain to get off, the new ones were a pain to get on, most of them didn't fit properly, and then something almost immediately burnt itself up so I had to sit outside doing fire watch for ten-twenty minutes. My main regret is I'm never recording when I goof something that badly.
Have you ever done any Duramax 18hp motors? Im trying to make a aftermarket air cleaner because nobody makes one.....That extra air hols on the carb manifold cannot be blocked correct ? Any ideas would be appreciated
I have a Predator 212 with the go power sports stage 2 kits .Love it. But now I am blowing oil out the valve cover. What could be causing this to happen
Is the sump/crankcase gasket on that one the same as the 6 1/5 Greyhound that Harbor freight sold before Predator ?? If so where are you getting the parts ??
Hey read beard. So I bought a crappy kandi 150cc go kart. And the engin will turn over and rev but it will not go into gear. We took the transmission apart and everything was fine. We cleaned everything put fluid in it and put it back together and still nothing. Any clue on what I can do?
Will this run ok without the muffler? My cart doesn't want to run without the choke on. I was wondering if it needed back pressure from the muffler or it needs 18#springs. I need help bad please.
Hello i have a quick question my predator 212 motor dies out on tight turns ? It will restart easy but once again on the next tight turn dies again. If u got any suggestions would be great appreciated thanks.
Is the new Emulsion tube more open then the stock emulsion tube, I ordered a bigger main jet and was wondering if I need to change the stock emulsion tube to feel a difference.
Question what would be the best valve kit and the best cam kit for a predator 212 all we are doing with the go-kart is running around the neighborhood but we are looking for Speed
What do you do about the vacuum lines from the gas tank and valve cover is that when you use the kit that you can add on to the kit? Love your channel thanks
Red Beard's Garage doesn't go power sports make a kit I think it's called the vent filter kit? Correct me if I'm wrong but thanks for the reply love the channel.
mayor productions, the fuel tank is vented to atmosphere. So, you can let the little hose hang loose, put a long one on and hang loose, or you could even hunt some little filter if you prefer and rig up a super tiny filter, like maybe a fuel filter, if you’d prefer. Nice cart.
if i wanted to install head springs for a 7 hp would it be 18 or more lbs and what would happen if i got to strong of srings?????????? really i watch a lot of yours and cars and cam but i havent seen where u speak about what happen if you get to strong of srings
I think my clutch is catching on because the kart keeps going forward and shutting off like it did to your friend how can I fix that I got the 212cc predator engine
it makes a really loud noise and it goes away when I give it gas but then comes right back and shuts off. do you have a video on how to take the clutch out I'm very new to this just got mine 3days ago
at 7:58 that thing sounds bad ass! with some 20% off coupons its crazy you can pickup these engines for under $99. i was looking to replace the engine on my trailmaster mid xrx with one of these. is the performance muffler add on worth it?
Can you please respond I got me a 212 and just bought the stage one kit . I wanna make it go fast you said you don't know what to go with torque converter or a racing clutch ?
Clutches are easier, but tav units give more instant torque and a wider powerband. I've got a centrifugal clutch on my home made rat rod kart, and it's a 50+mph kart, but 40mph is plenty scary 3" off the ground.
If I run the bigger jet do I need to replace that tube above it? Or can I just use the one that is in there? Also do you recommend using Lock tite on the header? Thanks for any help, I just ordered 3 of these performance kits from Go Powersports and I am excited to see what gains it gives me. Thank you for any help, love your channel. Thank you, Red Beards Garage and Go Powersports are great tools to have in any mini bike and go kart shop
Great vid! May I suggest a racing clutch?? :) So on your regular 212cc predator, you has no governor, 18lb valve springs, air filfer, jetted carb, and a header on that motor? Just wondering cause I'm thinking of doing a build using that power plant.
+Joaquin Juarez it is the same price just make sure to buy the one with the part number 60363. Thats the one with the hemi head. And thanks, I appreciate your support
Yes i do on all mine just because if you take a curve hard it sometimes will cut the engines off. The only reason they are there is because they use these engines on pressure washers and generators so if they turn over it will kill the engine to prevent damage.
Red Beard you should hire me because I just had the best idea: Once your done building up the predator motor and you have the clutch, the flywheel, the valve springs etc all the power mods are out of the way, Your gonna be afraid to ride the thing like anyone. Assuming your able to tame the steering setup - or to help tame the steering behavior - Buy or make a WEIGHT BALLAST. You know that would be the #1 way to make a kart like that feel and drive a helluva lot safer. you build or buy a weight ballast and keep it low as possible if your making one and you move the weight distribution as far forward as you can to hopefully achieve roughly 52:48 or so with a rider on board. reason for this is because once you have front end grip your gonna be able to balance out the kart when it wants to get squirrelly. it'd be a lot safer
on my go kart the carb studs are not the same lingth when a put my aftermarket air filter adapter on it will not fit. does anyone have an answer to why it is like that?
