Hi John! That was a weird one, eh? It was even weirder just to put on the ground! Anyway, it’s down and thought I would just show you all. Thanks for watching! WST
Hi Heinzie! That pole was rotten for sure. Some decent wood in it, but getting it down was more about eliminating the headache it could pose later. Thanks for watching! WST
Pete?? A man that appreciates totally left field jokes. Trust me, I don't write these in advance. Hangers are the 8th wonder of the world. When you think you understand what they are going to do.....nope, you're wrong! Thanks for watching my friend! WST
Hello Mike, great video, appreciate the PSA on the IOV, WST, good to CYA , before you and the MRS. go to the PTA, ok, that’s enough. Liked the Tom Arnold joke, you do remember he was married to Roseanne, he must have really tied one on that night. Anyway, thanks for the entertainment, the world can use a little laugh right now. Have a nice weekend
FYI, THX for watching 🤣 Thanks for playing a long and getting what I’m getting at. You need to laugh these days. If not, it’s a sad place. Thanks for watching, other Mike. I appreciate it greatly. WST
LTD, I had no idea what was the right thing to do. Yank here, tank there and it would come down. Yea, right. Husky did very little. It will in future episodes .
Hi Del! Yep. That was a longer task than I expected. That’s what’s fun about firewood, not everything is straightforward. Got to think a little. Thanks for watching my friend! WST
B&F!! Hope all is well. The widow maker was a bonus for you and me. Imagine my surprise to se this sucker dangling. I like spur of the moment puzzles….. so does Tom Arnold! Thanks for watching! WST
That widow maker reminded me of virtually the same scenario I had with a Douglas Fir. I tried to cut down a tree a bit bigger and taller. It got hung up in the other trees and spun off the stump. I had to pull it with my truck in reverse, hooked to the front of my truck. I think that's the last tree I have fallen. It spooked me.
Hi Steve! Trees that do that are spooky for sure. I was confident, but uncertain at the same time. Does that make sense? You just hope everything hits the ground and you are still alive and in my case, you have power. I have too many trees around power lines!! Thanks for sharing your story and watching WST
Hi Mike! Hope all is well on your end. The vacation was a nice sabbatical for the family and I. I got back and had some catch up to do with my real job. I hope to get back in the swing of things again and put some content out there. Thanks for the note. WST
Hi Patrick! I agree that would be the thing to do. I however buy my non ethanol gas 100 gallons at a time. I would just take the splitter by the pump. I appreciate you watching and hope to see you again. WST
Hey Max! Thanks for coming back down from altitude to watch! Making it easier to do maintenance may seem overkill, but why not. The stem score 🤣 That’s awesome! Take care my friend. I will be booking a seat on your next flight. WST
Looks like taking your time has paid off . Everything is thought out well and done right . Looking forward too some splitting action with that predator engine power house . Newholland blue with light blue high lighting would look nice and match your tractor . Nice job Mike 👍👍👍👍
Hey SRR77! That’s your new name 🤣 I appreciate the comment. I hope this comes together like it does in my dreams. I have redone a few things I did because I wasn’t happy. All off camera of course. The New Holland color was thrown around in my head. Whatever I chose, it will look as blingy as I can make it. Take care, brother. Appreciate you! WST
TOA! Are you looking at the same splitter I am? 🤣 Just need time to get this thing done so I can realize my work. Soon, I hope. Take care, brother. WST
Mike that was a great idea with elevating the motor, along with the vibration isolators and the boxing in of the square tubing. Now the widow makers, not my fav cuz if you cant control it like you do i get the nervous sweats cuz you dont know what its doing. you did amazing with how safe you took it down!!!!!
WD30! How are you my friend. Glad you to hear you are anti-vibration. As for the widow, she was stubborn. Forgives it out slowly and with calculations. Thanks for watching my friend. WST
HAY MIKE NICE MOUNT & DISMOUNT... YUP THIS INSTALLMENT WAS PRETTY ACROBATIC... BOTH THE ENGINEERING AND RE-ENGINEERING SEGMENTS... AT FIRST, I THOUGHT YOU WERE HEADIN' TOWARDS KIND- OF A JACK AND THE BEANSTALK THEAM, BUT THEN YOU SWITCHED GEARS AND WENT FOR THE JOHN HENRY THING WITH THE OLE PILEDRIVIN' ACTION... I LIKE IT! I THINK THE SPLIT-A-NATER GONNA BE RIGHT UP THERE WITH ROBOSOURIS & SHOCKWAVE... HAY IF I'M REAL GOOD, WILL YOU MAKE ME ONE??? AND CAN YOU PAINT IT GREEN??? I WAS THINKIN' BOUT DOIN' SOMETHIN' DIFFERENT LIKE SPLITIN' HEADACHES... THAT WAY YOU CAN HAVE ONE NOW, AND SAVE ONE FOR LATER... WHAT-DA-YOU THINK??? PRETTY COOL HUGH??? WELL I GOTTA GO I THINK I HEAR MY MOM CALLIN' ME... STAY COOL... PEACE...
Hey Gringo, hope all is well on hell’s doorstep. All I want to say is this. You actually guessed the name of my splitter. I named it 3 weeks ago and by my amazement, you said it. That’s as far as I will go. The colors with be, I can’t say that either. This whole build is the Divinci Code. One week at a time my friend. If the man ever lets go of me, you will get more of me. Thanks for watching and support this side of the tracks. Take care my friend! WST
The build is coming along nicely Mike. Maybe a piece of angle under the engine deck across the back for some added rigidity. I've been missing you and your vids.
Hey Clint! Thanks for reaching out. I’ve been doing a lot of work for my personal job and just got back from a 12 day camping vacation with the family down south. I do plan on getting back to The Tube and sharing more video. I just had to take care of my business and my family first. Thanks again for reaching out. It means a lot to me. Take care my friend! WST
FM, I’m speechless. In building a a splitter as slow as molasses in February…. That’s slow. The hiring pool is not good and here I am. Thanks for the support and the pics. Your help will soon manifest itself……. I think. Keep the 🚂 on the tracks my friend. WST
WST, like you I enjoy black lines and they do matter when laying out builds such as this. What we will disagree on is the isolators and raised mount. What I feel will happen is by having all that material (engine block, isolators, sq.tubing, floor plate) all sandwiched with long bolts and the limiting fastener torque due to isolator compression is gonna cause loosing/vibrating issues. I have a feeling it might loosen up and fall apart faster than the chaz/chop mlb autonomy zone of June 2020. I would recommend weld bolts inside one side of sq tube for rigid fasten to floor plate. Then weld bolts upward for engine and isolators. This will help entire engine mount to remain tight.
Hi Garny, I understand what you are saying. I looked at doing that, but the size of the tube was not enough to get the correct length of bolt for either side. I do have another idea that will yield the same result. The plan is to weld the lift kit to the platform. Have a big enough hole from the bottom yo feed the bolt length needed for the top section. Hopefully that made sense. I don’t want that whatever you mentioned happening in June 2020 to me…. Thanks for the help. WST
Mike, your splitter is looking awesome! Well thought out process. Those widow makers are something else. Glad you were able to get it safely on the ground!
Hi Craig! Hope all is well. Splitter is coming along really slow, but it has a clear path to something very, very usable. That widow maker was fun, but stubborn. If I knew then, what I know now, it would have been a quicker process. Thanks for watching as always. WST
Great information, Doug. It makes complete sense. I have a garage full of pucks. What do you recommend I do with all the broken sticks I saved over the years. I only kept the woodies from back in the day. Thanks for watching and commenting. WST
Hi Kris! Thanks for the comment. Now that COVID is somewhat behind us, my job has become my job once again. I have had very little time to get it finished in a timely matter. Plus, I spend a lot of time with the family since I travel. That being said, I am getting close to getting it finished. I hope to have it up and running no later than October. You will see it finished and working, I promise. Thanks again for watching! WST
Nice Mike! You could install a Drainz-It plug before you put oil in it. Del showed one on his channel last summer. Do you have a completion date in mind? I’m anxious to see it in action!
Hi Mike! I had saw that on Del’s channel before. I was just going to hard pipe it. As for a completion date….. ASAP or this year. Whichever comes first. Time has been a big factor of late. With everything going on in the world right now, the real job has me busier than usual. Thanks for watching! WST
I don’t no Mike. All them big words come’n at me in the begin’n done threw me off, jess cain’t hang with you brainy folk. All’s I know’d is them there fancy lift kit thingymajobbers (See, I no’s me sum big words to!) that you dun put under the big black noise maker, they shore be purdy! Ooh, ‘n I liked me that closer up bonus footage to. Reel thawtlike of ya! Bless’ns to ya, Tedd
Hey Tedd! You had me at “I don’t know, Mike” 🤣 Nothing I say is really thought out. That was a riff. It flowed and you heard it. I often thought about going to one of those coffee house on open mic night. I could enlighten some people with gibberish. T-shirt are supposed to ship next week! Soon you will be sporting the squirrel. Take care! WST
As soon as you planted the widowmaker and then reattached a couple feet up from the bottom I thought oh no someone is going to do some ploughing rather than dragging. I've ploughed with enough trees/branches that I now try to drag from as close to the butt end as possible. Are you putting another urethane disc underneath the mount? With a rigid bolt between the top of the engine mount to the bottom of the frame there is still a direct path for vibrations to get through.
Hi Larry, good to hear from you. Between us, I made it 1” away. I will be more active again soon. Work and other family matters have taken me away from RU-vid. Thanks for sticking around and the comment. I appreciate it.
Gringo!! This reply is to show proof of life. I literally just got back from a two week vacation with the wife and boys. Before that, I was so inundated with work that I couldn’t make a short, let alone a full scale video. I plan to get back to it very soon. I just needed to get through the work and take the family on some much needed vacation. I really appreciate you checking in. See you soon! WST LIVES!!!
@@luisbatista1103 Well, life has been a bugger the last year. Thanks for commenting. With the woodyard starting to have the snow go away, I’m getting anxious to show the completed splitter. It’s a runner!
Hi Andy! This project has been dragged out beyond anything else I’ve ever done. I just need time and Amazon doesn’t sell it on Prime. Thanks for watching! WST
Yessir. The splitter is done. Just been busy with my business and haven’t had time to shoot videos. I take it you have seen all the videos on the splitter to this point? Thank you for watching.
@@WSTMike yes I have. I have really enjoyed the series so far and am using parts as inspiration to build my own splitter. One question where did you get your dump valve from?
@@christopherfaber3953 Glad you enjoyed the vids and you’re building your own. It’s a fun project. I got my dump valve from Splitez (Split Ez) Here is the link m.splitez.com/dump-valve.html
Mr wst! Your in the middle of building a super nice splitter! So this is the time to plan and fix the second largest complaint about splitters after speed. Noise! My splitter is quiet and so should yours be so you can hear the Mrs. Ask your son how to quiet that predictor down so you can talk while using it. You have plenty of power and that thing is loud. Do some research quiet it down and then WE all can enjoy your amazing talent of building and speaking big words that are so large people like me don’t even realize that your insulting them.lol. But for real it’s s great investment for your ears marriage and video production! I’m out!
THE STAN!! I skipped everyone to answer you first. The only way this thing is going to be quiet is if I get a gigantic baby bipolar and slap it over the top of it. Don’t worry, you will be able to hear me while I’m splitting. I just paid $1.4 million for a very good noise canceling mic. It’s so good, I can’t hear myself taking. Impressive. Great to hear from you. Soon I hope to go to twice a day again. Take care, brother! WST
@@WSTMike I know I’m full of ship all the time but this one is for real. Ask your son I’m positive you can buy or make a muffler to quiet that thing down. Cool quest. Fine I’ll figure out why everyone wants to have ear protection on all the time. Everyone but me.
@@WSTMike consider a muffler from moped or… my daughters have 4 stroke 125 cc 4 wheelers that are quiet too. Generator s have different mufflers too. If I had your ability I would try out my idea! Lol.
