It's so weird how this movie starts out as just another macho action flick with Arnold, but quickly turns into one of the great sci fi horror films of the decade.

It's like Aliens - the script sets up the jungle warfare team as unstoppable badasses, then subverts this by having the Predator kill most of them easily, because their guns and muscles aren't much use against an invisible menace that can see in the dark.

This was peak Arnold for appearance and acting. 40 years old, mature hairline, piercing eyes with crows feet, and a slightly more slender and more appealing - yet still formidable - muscle mass. @@johnny-mnemonic13 yes the yautja’s are almost entirely all stone cold killers but they are capable of laughter and some level of amusement some also can even be merciful and they really consider xenomorphs to be a threat and thus are some of the ultimate prey so they’ll target those first. Humans and Yautja have worked together. And they do have an honor system somewhat. In the Batman predator run Batman actually beats the predator and they take his body away and claim earth is no longer a hunting ground as he earned their respect as a warrior. Technically how this movie is. Except they had to make another 5 or so movies.
