Years ago i volunteered to mentor some primary school kids to get some work experience as i was considering going into teaching after working in scientific research. I had to have an enhanced crb check etc etc but as a male i was constantly treated different to the females who were doing a similar role. I had to be under the constant supervision of other staff members and a female teacher at the school said straight to my face that someone else would have to collect the children for me as they couldn't have a weird bloke wandering around the school. Now i imagine this same woman would be more than happy to have the lgbtqxyz brigade visit with no questions asked.
