quite confused on the first one i thought that 4.8 * 10^-11 would be a larger acid than a 5.6 * 10^-11 for an acid and lower for 1.8 * 10^-5 than a 2.1 * 10^-4?
Hi Favio, the largest Ka is the strongest acid (more ionizes than the weaker, smaller Ka, acid). The equilibrium will lie on the side opposite of the strong acid. Thanks for your question!
Thank you very much for this lesson. But I'll like to ask please, "How do I know which acid or base is strong or weak when those numbers are not given?
Hi Legendary Linus, You have to have the Ka for both of the acids in order to definitively answer which is the strongest acid and the side that equilibrium will lie on. You can Google acid ionization tables for the information. I hope that helps! Thanks:)
