I'm 45 years old and only now learning how to properly care for my skin. I never knew we even had access to better skincare products and I'm truly enjoying everything I am learning! Very grateful. I love skincare and I need it badly. I hope I can make real progress with consistency and maybe give others hope that they can too!
Wow, I know I'm late because this was filmed three years ago in 2021 and right now it's 2024. Nonetheless, this video is awesome. I've been doing it all wrong! No wonder my skin remains dry. I happened to stumble upon a link to this channel in an article I was reading. Lucky me. I have subscribed and look forward to hearing more tips. Thank you SO much.
I love your channel!!! I wish you would post more. The tips and instructions have been game changers. I’m in my mid 40’s, but everyone thinks I’m in my early 30’s!!!
That is the result of amplifying health in your body and skin! Bravo! I wish I would post more too, it's challenging with a full practice of seeing patients to make content - but I will do my best. Have a new one coming out today. Thanks for you support!
Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with us. Love the way you deliver the information of the subjects.I m very interested in Gua Sha technic and Chinese philosophy in general. Please continue to share with us your knowledge of skin care.
I have started to mist my toner on more often and I like the results. In the past, I had thought toning more than once would cause me to wipe or "wash away" the actives I had just put on. It's hard to make the shift in thinking that all these layers are actually making into my skin and doing the work they are meant to do.
Hi. First of all, I would like to thank you for inspiring me to start doing Gua Sha. My face is loving it! Secondly, I have an acne prone skin so I have been using acids (like retinoids or azelaic acid) . Where will this come in in the sequence of prepping your skin for Gua Sha?
It depends on your skin! We love to use our actives between our hydrating fluids and oils, and then facial Gua Sha can help circulate those products further, but if you have reactive skin you can use them after you Gua Sha!
Funny. I literally sent an email out to all my clients last week about doing this. And how important it is to use the hydrating toner. Something that doesn’t have any dry ingredients like any kind of acid or witch hazel. I firmly believe toners need to be hydrating not astringents and not to be used as a cleanser.
Thanks so much for these videos, I’m learning so much from you! I use a medication for acne (curology) on my skin at night. It is like a lotion, so would I do this last since it is the heaviest? Also, I do not have an oil but a lotion (cera ve with sunscreen) that I use in the mornings. Should I use that in place of the oil layer? Or should I add in oil then do cera ve on top? Thank you!!!
A lot of times your skin is only oily cause you’re not hydrating right so your skin over produces oil… maybe try to switch up your routine and see if it helps a little!!!
Just wanted to say thank you for your instructional videos. I just bought the rose quartz and jade beginner gua sha tools and they're so pretty! It has made the face care routine more enjoyable- I was using a ceramic spoon before (mom taught me that lol).
Wow dear... I've waiting for your videos n God blessed me 🥰 my skin has improved alot since I do guasa... N now I'm currently using face oil.. I will definitely do your tips from now on 🥰
if doing this at night do you apply anything after gua sha? like more oil etc.? is any of the moisturizing components that you would want during sleepping stripped off during gua sha and need to be reapplied after?
Thanks for another amazing video, Sandra! I'm having a hard time believing you're 45 in this video just as much as I couldn't believe you were 43 in your first video; there's just this light that seems to radiate from your skin! I have 2 questions. Can you suggest any other face oils that are nourishing for lipid sensitive skin? I really want to love face oils, but my face doesn't really love them, especially around the humid Australian summer. Also, is there any difference between gua sha tool shapes and their efficacy on different parts of the face/body? I really like the unique shape of your Lanshin gua sha tool, but also see that you sell spoon shaped ones and I'm curious haha. When I bought my first gua sha tool, it came in a set, but I just stick to the H shaped one and haven't used the others. I have a kind of hockey stick shaped one, a mushroom shaped one and one that looks like a fish and I'm not sure how to use them? Any tips would be helpful!
Hello Patti! Thank you so much for your feedback! Oils are just so tricky for lipid sensitive skin. I have seen olive squalane be the least irritating of most oils I've used. There is one by Shea Terra that I like and is very affordable, not sure if they are available in Australia. The shapes on Gua Sha tools do make a difference in my opinion, but at the same time any flat and smooth board is enough to start creating positive changes in your skin. For the shapes you're using, just challenge yourself to be intuitive with them, try to approximate an edge on your tool to the edges on mine in my videos - see how that goes!
I love your videos! Got really interested in gua sha, and i am going to buy one. I also like your product reccomendation, unfortunately its almost impossible to buy them here in Norway, but i will look for something similar
Your skin looks great !! Do you have a favorite facial sunblock that you use ? Are you usually wearing a hat when out in the sun or a hoodie as well ? Merci Madam.
Thanks for another VERY informative vid! I needed this! Would you be so kind to let me know if any products & sprays listed is are ok for sensitive skin? If so, which would you recommend. THANKS! (I’d buy them at the LANSHIN store of course! )
It depends on what you mean by sensitive skin. If you'd like a personalized product recommendation, you can email support@lanshin.com with a longer description of your skin type and we are happy to make some recommendations for you :)
We have some other balms/more occlusive products on our website you can check out! If you have sensitive/reactive skin, definitely reach out to support@lanshin.com with more about your skin and we are happy to recommend some products.
Thank you so much for this. I use avene mist but I heard it was best for oily and acne prone skin. My skin is dehydrated and dry. Would it be okay to use this still or should I try something else?
We love a lot of the avene products! One of my favorite mists of all time though is the Josh Rosebrook Hydrating Accelerator that is featured in this video! It is great because it preps the skin to accept more hydration, so when coupled with hydrating oils or products after, you will get so much hydration! @@Lanshin Thank you so much. I will definitely look at this. I have been using my hydrating k beauty toner and have been doing this for like the past week and it is amazing. However, I do not know if I am doing it right. I wasn't applying the hydrating toner onto damp skin, so now I am doing that. Is it okay if after the toner steps, I apply anywhere from like 3 to 4 layers and press them in. Is it okay if I dampen my skin with water before I go on to my essence? Also, can I dampen my skin before every skincare step? I was thinking about dampening my skin with water for each step(toner, essence and moisturizer) and then pressing the products in. Would that be okay? My skin is really dry and weird so I just want to make sure I am following the steps correctly. Thank you so much!
Hi. I have been using jojoba oil before gua sha (after I cleanse) but I am finding it annoying to remove & continue on with my nightime serums, etc. What do you suggest for gua sha? Thanks so much
We love a hydrating mist/fluid and an oil to prep the skin for Facial Gua Sha. Check out our website to see a bunch of curated products that we love to use as part of our routines.
So we gotta apply oil of a freshly washed face before gua sha and after that routine? Can I go back using my niacinamide and hyaluronic acid or should I stop?
Treat Facial Gua Sha as the final step in your skincare routine (before SPF and/or makeup). You can definitely still use your active serums/ingredients in your routine, I would recommend applying them in between your hydrating fluid/mist and facial oil.

Hard to say for sure! There aren't any specific studies about it to our knowledge. As a rule of thumb, we wait to avoid our SPF until our oil application as fully absorbed into the skin and is not still slick.
I’ve read from dermatologist article that face oils should not be used in morning because it comprises sunscreen efficacy? Can anyone suggest a different morning product that provides slip for gua sha?
Definitely understand your concern! We are not actually sure whether or not oils compromise the efficacy of SPF, it is a theory but hasn't been tested. We recommend using a hydrating mist before your oil and then gua sha or massage in the oil so your skin feels well hydrated but not greasy. You can also wait 10-20 minutes after oil application before SPF if you'd prefer. Hope this helps!!! :)
Sandra.. love your videos and crushing on you. What I love is how your personality comes through in your videos. Thanks for doing all you do and sharing with us!
