By removing the negative battery cable you are disconnecting the battery from the chassis of your vehicle. If you begin to remove the positive side before the negative and your wrench would make contact with any part of the vehicle, then you could cause a short in the system.

Yes. You only need to disconnect the negative too.

This is terrible advice - always disconnect the negative first to prevent any problems (like accidentally touching the chassis) when disconnecting the live.

What I know is, you take off negative first then positive when removing it and positive first then negative when fixing it back....

Question after you disabled the battery and locked the driver side door what happen with other electric doors will the remain locked during this processed. Otherwise someone open any door then wired back battery cable.

I disconnected once and when I came back I couldnt open the car door, because even the physical key was not able to open it because there was no electricity whatsoever

THIS IS THE WRON GGUY TO ASK ! NOT A MECHANIC ! and gave terrible advice by disconnecting POSITIVE FIRST. nope ! negative first. And mechanics say just negative will do the trick.

Some cars will reset your radio security setting when you remove the battery or screw up the computer. To set it up again will require going to the dealer. There should be other options.
