If we had to take shots every time Jasmine said “Black Excellence” we’d all be dead! She was doing a little too much. I was happy when her friend (I forgot her name) called her out about it only being her second time in MV! 😂😂 Brooke - they need to cast you for season 2!

The show has a ton of potential. Bravo is smart to have a huge cast first season so they can see what works and trim it down later.

It was so good. For a premiere episode, it definitely a hit. Jasmine especially got on my nerves and at the end solidified that she is not really a good friend to Jordan. She let her husband talk down to her instead of standing up for her. Silas is one of those people that don’t like their partners friends and Jasmine is definitely the type that will choose a man over their friends and it’s so sad and controlling. I would never put a man over friends that’s been my rock for life. Absolutely not!

Nick is weird, Jasmine is pretentious, Bria is entitled, Jordan is conceited, Amir is lost, Silas is controlling, Preston is speaking facts and everyone else is on the fence right now.

I want to visit Martha's Vineyard now😊

Yayy, I’m so happy you are reviewing this. Also, Preston made me think about Black Excellence differently too, but I know when people say it, it’s not meant to be harmful. I hope he doesn’t make it a habit to over analyze everything, that would be annoying. Also, I would have an issue with the dog too, especially if it was shedding all on the furniture. It’s probably shedding in the pool too😅.Silas gets a side eye from me because sir what’s the problem?

Honesty, I do believe Bria about the whole dog situation. The way everything has to go through production and the show runners, considering I assume they’re helping to pay for the room and board for the cast. If they let her have a dog and didn’t seem to make it a disqualifying factor for her being in the cast, then so I believe it to be a fake issue.

I think Jasmine had too much pillow talk about her and Jordan's single life excursions. So, Mister is insecure about the going out and thangs. And Bria, you need to get your dog Sis, emotional support my foot, just say you didn't have a dog sitter for 15 days.

When Jasmine asked that question what yall think about struggle of singlehood? I was like okay girl not feeling her. She gets married and now she is an expert. When Silas mentioned about Jasmine going out with Jordan and Jasmine is not saying anything, I wouldn't be inviting her anymore. You get a man and now is my man, my man, my man...and she didn't defend Jordan. Silas if she doesn't have curfew, why is there an issue her out being late especially if you are not home.

I didn't know what bothered me until Preston pointed it out. I am with you: as soon as Preston said what he said and the others agreed, I was hooked. Bria was rude to just show up with a dog so nonchalantly. To be honest I am not really here for Amir, who got his first fade with 24, wanting to have the black experience...when you waited until 24 I feel like it was by choice and not by opportunity so no pity party for him from my end.

I really like the show! Preston is my favorite overall as well. Bria should have given a heads up about the dog but I like her, she's like Hilary Banks. Jasmine & Silas are already getting on my nerves individually and as a unit lol. Nick being a Kappa checks out, his clothing is big Kappa energy 😂.

The show is really cute. I hope they return for a second season. I never watched the original Summer or Winter House franchise's. I really love seeing this all black cast and checking out your recaps on it every week.

This shows' formula is more like Summer/Winter House.

Brooke in my opinion Sylis is the “line brother” that I remember from college who was going around the black frat parties being dogs to the women there. Some of his homies are men who perpetrated on women. And his wife is probably the woman who was being perpetrated on or her friends or the girls who they were slutting out. And her going out is bringing back memories of what used to happen when he would go out as a single college guy.

Hey Brooke 💕 I love this show. Jasmine got on my nerves but Bria need to keep up with her dog or go home fr. Hopefully they get a second season because Bravo aka Andy loves to keep the white shows that ain't giving nothing.

I am going to love this show! I am from DC so we went to MV many summers. I can def relate to this cast and my upbringing as well.

I'm a dog lover, my do is my child. However I do know everybody doesn't like my baby, so I do take that into consideration. So when my dog is shedding I carry a lint roller. I would never say there's nothing I can do about it. I'm liking this show so far. I love seeing people like me on TV.

Hey Brooke! I could tell by looking at them that they were all first time MV vacationers! Jazmine doing THEE most…was an absolute dead giveaway! Loved how her friend got her together and exposed that it was only her second time there! Lol! That’s so sad and typical that some of them were standoffish at the premiere party! SMH!! Brooke - they were probably nervous you might replace them if there’s a next season LOL! But like you said, “stay humble because you can be here today and gone tomorrow!” Nothing is guaranteed in life especially in terms of reality tv! And yes, Preston is my favorite as well. I get the feeling that she wasn’t really that upset about the dog she just wanted a bit of drama in the house. But maybe I’m biased because I love dogs lol! Super late, but I finally saw the premiere today and thought about you during the episode. I said “Nah Brooke would fit right in, she would give everybody a classy read with a glass of wine in her hand” lol

I like Bria and Preston .. Jasmine is not my cup of tea.. she’s super pretentious for no reason because she was just struggling

Brooke I have not watched shows in years and i just might watch this.

Until you drop some names, I'm doing a hard side eye on everybody. If these people know they are the fan favorite off rip or production favorite, it will gas them up further. We do not need another Hazelnut Hoteptress or Gizelle.

My comments on these people (those who I can remember): Jasmine & Silas: I can relate to her trying to be the hostess with the mostest because I’m the same way so I understand why she was annoyed about the dog. However, she seems to be jealous of Bria in some way. The way she tried to belittle her relationship was giving envious. Silas bringing up how late Jasmine was out was inappropriate. That seemed like a private conversation that they already had so bringing it up was weird. I think Jasmine is a little unhappy so she’s weird toward Bria. The fact that she didn’t make sure Bria wasn’t even in the room before she started talking made her look so goofy. Bria was wrong for not letting anyone know about the dog and then getting mad when it’s brought up. It’s giving wrong & strong. I think it’s because she was already irked by Jasmine that she responded that way though. I liked Alex laidback approach and Nick also seems unproblematic. Amir is an obvious womanizer, girlfriend or not. Jordan idk I’m not sure about her. She seems conceited and haughty but I kinda felt what she said about constantly being called pretty but not asked any real questions. I get how that can be annoying. Jordan seems like there’s more to her though. I liked Mariah’s personality the most so far.

I just finished watching it and I am hooked! Great premiere. I can’t wait for the rest!

I have two crushes !

So while I agree brea was in the wrong for being so non chalant about the dog I also think jasmine came at her wrong too. She brought her friend to confront the girl and I can see why she got defensive so quick. But also girrrlll p/u after your dog! If I have a dog that sheds, I’m gonna bring at least a handheld vacuum so I can cleanup after my dog. I would be mortified if somebody had to tell me something about my little fur-baby. And the way that Silas was acting towards Jordan really peeves me off because I’ve been that friend where the husband seems to target you and think that you’re the bad influence when in reality, it’s not our fault we’re single. Single woman are not heathens trying to corrupt married ladies. We just want to socialize and blow off steam too. Like what are we supposed to do stay in locked up in our house and cut off our married friends bc we’re single?? Like c’mon get over yourself. And jasmin should have nipped that in the bud with her man. I would have stopped that before it began. Gotta trust your partner otherwise why be in a relationship! Very solid first episode!! I have severe dog allergies to certain breeds but I am also a dog person. So I see both sides. However, THAT dog I am allergic to & I would be pissed if I had to go get some Zyrtec & an epipen because you weren’t considerate enough to let us know. Jasmine was on my damn nerves chile. HUSH! I like Preston & Mariah. I don’t care bout the rest of them yet lol.

I hope it wasn’t Mariah that was standoffish because I’m intrigued to know more about her story.

They were doing the most on the first episode. It was the overacting for me…

I absolutely hated the oppression to black excellence talk the whole episode but I understand it was an opening episode so I’m hoping it doesn’t continue. “Black Excellence” as the term is often used is very much so an arm of white supremacy which I don’t think most black people are truly trying to embody.

Based on this episode, Milo was my absolute fave and I enjoyed Bria the most of the humans. While she should have given a heads up about the dog, she apologized later. Jasmine annoyed me from Act 1, Scene 1...so pretentious and over the top all the time. She could have addressed Bria from the monemt she arrived but needed Mariah (whom im not really feeling) to be her hype man 🙄.

I actually disagree re the usage of black excellence. I see the term used for kids academically shining, ppl doing good in their communties etc it's just not just used in reference to material possesions and status
