I'm a Dentist and I would not deny what you're saying. Because the mechanism of action is very similar to the approach of IPC and DPC which Dentist also do commonly in order to try to save that tooth from root canal. There is also a group of Dentists who don't like to do root canals. Because once root canal is done. That tooth is dead and would just be a physical structure in your oral cavity. This remedy is as similar to prescribing Oral antibiotics, doing IPC and DPC. Also, she has mentioned you won't need root canal that time. That happens with above measures as well and then then the ball gets into the court of the patient that how is he or she taking care of his oral cavity after that. If you take enough preventive measures and start taking care of one of the most important part of your body.. Your mouth.. You might never need one. But you go back to being careless again.. Then you will again end up again with your infection getting back, spreading faster and in more acute condition. And unfortunately this is the situation which happens more often in India (with in the range of my experience) and that's when Dentist tell patients.. See you should've gotten the root canal back then only. Now you've increased the damage making to do a successful root canal challenging. And that's when conclusion comes that these remedies are wasteful. And this leads to a majority of practitioners not giving patients option for waiting if we can avoid the root canal. Another point to add would be.. When anyone has done this remedy, the infection is gone.. Get your tooth restored because if there is structural damage the chances of it getting relapse is high. And a tooth filling would just help you to take more care in future. And also long term studies say done with a cohort for 7-10 years would give tell us actual potential of this and who knows we might have a new regime after that.

For tooth ache and root canals gargling with decoction of guava leaves ( make small pieces of guava leaves and add to one glass water. Boil till the water reduces to half) Cool it and use it for gargling. Works wonders.
