Hey guys thank you so much for watching our reaction to the movie prey! This was our first time watching it but definitely not the last! We absolutely loved this film. The Predator was as menacing as ever but the lead Amber Midthunder was a complete boss! The action sequence were amazing, the cinematography was amazing and the score was perfect. For a predator prequel this is probably the best crafted film in the entire saga. I wouldn't mind staying in this timeline a little bit longer. With that stinger at the end I hope we get a few films with the Comanches! #prey #reaction #hulu

The reason this movie was so good is they kept it historically accurate for the time as well as used real Native American actors and directing assistant for this movie.

Oh absolutely! It was genuinely so refreshing and joyful to see actual Native Americans be a part of a story that is told about them and their ways. The bison were killed and skinned for their hides by the French trappers. It was set in the very late 1600's or early 1700's. The dog's part was increased from the original plan due to its personality. The dog was legit a rescue. You should watch 2010's Predators with Adrian Brody.

I like to talk about the subtle nuances I notice after watching a movie multiple times. I keep watching the ending and I think the actor who played Naru's mother did a great job for an extremely short amount of screentime. When Naru comes back you can see relief in her face even though she's reminded of the son she lost. She has her daughter back. But then you see pride. Her daughter didn't just come back alive, she came back as War Chief. But then she realizes what that means...War Chief is always at the front of the line, first in battle, taking danger and death head on. Also, I love how the Chief just kinda shoves her forward after giving her the spear. Kinda like, "You wanted it, you got it." Very good film.
@OfficialMediaKnights
@OfficialMediaKnights Год назад
Yeeesss!! The mother was phenomenal, she added such an interesting wisdom to Motherhood, to let your child go off and pursue what they want, instead of doing what they do best. It's to let the bird leave the nest, and hope they come back as unscathed as possible but also learning to let go and let them experience life, and everything that comes with it! Thanks so much for the comment, we appreciate you!

Loved watching your reactions (just for context, I am a 48 y.o. Marine veteran and Predator '87 is one of my very fave movies!). I LOVED this movie! The vitriol this has been getting from some just baffles me, especially when people try to claim she has no arc and is a flat character. I don't agree with that at all and thought she had some great development. In the beginning she was so inexperienced that her confidence was really unearned, but by the end she had really developed into a predator herself. That so many miss that her arc was in her transition from prey to predator just baffles me. I mean, the movie goes out of its way to show us that she is no match for these things she is fighting (cat, bear, young men, etc). I mean they show us the bear will kill her, and then this crazy alien monster thing kills the bear... with it's bare hands, mind you... and then presses it up over it's head and bathes in it's blood... I mean... seriously??? I have also seen claims of "plot armor." Well no kidding. If she died halfway through, the movie wouldn't be about her. She survives these scrapes by being just a little faster... or smarter... or observant, and all come together to teach her how to win. Anyway, don't mean to ramble. Was great watching your reactions. THX for the great video! :)

No rambling at all! Loved your insightful comment. We started this channel for this precise reason, to talk all about the films we love and meaningful comments like this warms our heart. First of all, thank you for your service. I’m pretty sure a Marine would be an awesome match vs the predator haha. That’s exactly how we saw it too! Her arc is right there and it’s a great one. She is not a perfect hunter. She is insecure in the beginning. Not minding her surroundings etc But through this movies we get to see her learn from past mistakes, come out of tight situations and eventually outsmart the predator himself. And becomes a huntress by the end of the film and it is implied she is in fact the most respected one in the tribe. SO WHAT DO THEY MEAN NO ARC!? Cmon, people will bash to bash. If it didn’t go the way they were expecting it’s a bad film. I thought it was absolutely fantastic and executed in such a polished way, predator fans should be proud! Thank you for your comment and for the support! 😃

Not all reptiles have thermal sensory organs, but rattle snakes are pit vipers, which do have thermal pits, yes. I really liked the story-telling that they were doing with the Predator in this movie. This is obviously one of the first, if not *the* first visit to Earth by the Predators, so they haven't determined that humans make for the best, most challenging prey yet. He works his way up by studying the animals, watching the rattler kill the rat, then the wolf going after the hare before deciding to test them as opponents. He does the same with the bear attacking Naru later, before going after the Comanche hunters/warriors after realizing they have weapons. I also love that the movie showed how the Predators have also progressed in terms of technology, like having a weapon with the triangular laser pointer, but instead of it being a plasma cannon it's a predecessor that fires flechette darts.

great reaction...there are subclasses of Predators: warriors, hunters, ancients, young bloods, bad bloods, and ferals, which is the predator we have. they preferred minimum tech and weapons. but also Predators adapt their hunting based on experience. i think thats why this Predator doesnt have a plasma cannon but like a rail gun. their tech was based on their prey. the predator also may be a youngblood, not really tested or a badblood, predators who used stuff to enhance themselves.. thinking we will get a sequel based on the credits. new sub!!! also what Tabaii screams when he fights the Predator and it cloaks can roughly be translated as, "Cheater."

I don't think it was a result of the mud, I think it was just because the Feral Predator didn't notice his helmet targeting him until the last second, since the bolts were shown to follow the laser's when the Feral Predator shot at the dog earlier in the movie. This may very reason could also be why Yautja started using plasma-casters, so they could avoid killing themselves by accident (This is my own little theory so I don't really know if it's true.

Naru wins for the same reason Dutch wins: she's smart, she figures some stuff out about what she's fighting, wears it down, tricks it, traps it, and eventually... it's killed by it's own technology. Just not by choice this time, lol I.e. Even muscle bound special forces dutch couldn't straight up out fight the Predator - he had to outsmart it. Same here. I fully agree: she's written like a very smart, very fit, very determined human being. She has main protagonist syndrome - she can take hits she shouldn't be able to, and recover too quickly, and get thrown around instead of sliced in half, and all that but then... like... she's the main protagonist? Best Predator since Predator 2, definitely. Possibly even better than that. I'll have to watch them both again to decide oh no...

The scene with the skinned cows. Those were buffalo, and it wasn't the predator who did it. It was the French. The predator only goes after other predators to establish dominance. It doesn't go after weaker species, and would not just wasted animals like that wholesale.

The Yautja only kill prey that kills. The snake, wolf, bear, even Naru's dog who the Feral recognizes as hunting dog, a warrior's companion. But from what I read from the novels, Yautjas sometimes kill weaker animals too, but only for sustenance, since they are carnivores.

This was such an awesome movie! I know Hollywood has been obsessed with writing female leads who are Mary Sues and putting them in situations that would never happen in real life. But for "Prey" it works, because they showed the girl practising and honing her skills, and the trick with the tomahawk and rope. She's shown as a capable "survivor" and uses skills that are realistic for the tribe she's part of. When facing the predator, she uses those skills to great effect in order to overcome, rather than some silliness because of the Hollywood farce of "strong, independent woman". And that's why I love this movie, second only to the original "Predator".

The Yautja (Predator race) call their hunting ritual, The Path. This is what they are born to do. To constantly prove themselves in a dangerous hunt. The law is to hunt the prey that kills, and to match the quarry, weapon for weapon, hence the spear and bolt gun in this film (although some say the Yautja haven't develop their energy weapons at this point of time). And yes, in the books, they do hunt Xenomorphs, which they dubbed "Kainde Amedha" which translates to Hard Meat (the Predators called us Soft Meat, btw 😂). They also referring the Xenos as "serpents". Usually they prove themselves by using spears, scatterguns, or even their bare hands when hunting Xenomorphs.
@OfficialMediaKnights

WOW! Hunting a Xeno with bare hands is probably the most badass thing a predator can do!! So interesting man. I would not be mad at giving the Predator Vs Alien story another try in today's age. I think if they take it seriously it could be a blast to watch that showdown again 😀

@OfficialMediaKnights
@OfficialMediaKnights Год назад
Precisely! It seems feasible that a person, especially a girl like her that is smaller in her dimension compared to the Predator, could outsmart her enemy, rather than defeat it by brute force - which is exactly what she did! That is also what makes her such a fantastic protagonist!!
@taylemgames2652
@taylemgames2652 3 месяца назад
@@OfficialMediaKnights Sorry, have to disagree. Not only was her fighting style fictional and physically human impossible ... but by her size alone; she does not have the physical strength to do most of what she did in the film. Despite how well it was shot, this film was absolutely contrary to the human vs predator element we saw in the first film. This was clearly made in the post-Superhero movie world we live in now.
@OfficialMediaKnights
@OfficialMediaKnights 3 месяца назад
Would you specify what exactly she did that was superhuman? Her usage of the Tomahawk, her general physical abilities are easily within the realm of possibility so, definitely confused on what superhuman element we missed here. Also, if you think size determines strength, I'd suggest watching a few videos on rock climbers vs body builders and then come back. Strength and endurance do not necessarily strictly depend on height or weight, nor does muscle mass or muscle size. There are many more factors that go into that such as the kind of muscle fibers, muscle stretch, speed of muscle contraction, neurological efficiency etc. We literally witnessed Schwarzenegger outsmart the Predator rather than defeat him with brute muscle strength, which is exactly the same as our protagonist in this one did.

Finally someone who gets it. There are too many people blasting this movie for being some kind of 'woke' propaganda where all they wanted to do was shove gender neutrality in our faces and I personally did not see any of that. Other than one moment in the movie there was never really anyone who doubted her capability to be a warrior. The tribe just didn't think she was ready, and she wasn't. Which is why the Predator didn't think she was a threat; not because she was a woman. The potential and drive was always there but she had to learn along the way.

Great reaction as always .👍👍👍 I truly love this movie , in fact this was the best film of 2022 for me , I went into this after seeing the previous entry The Predator and was expecting it to be another lacklustre average entry in the Predator franchise imagine my surprise when it was truly amazing . It is so great in every aspect , the Directing by Dan Trachtenberg ( 10 Cloverfield Lane ) was fantastic , the action scenes are sooo great I love the scene where the Predator slaughters the French fur trappers so brutal .The story and character are great , the Cinematography was amazing the truly great shots of the landscape are so beautiful , the acting is fantastic Amber Midthunder is great as Naru and Dakota Beavers is just as great as Taabe ( Hard to belive this is his first movie ) I love the way the Predator looks slightly different to the others and that the weapons are a bit more primitive using arrows not Plasma Cannons , and as for the soundtrack by Sarah Schachner it is one of my favourites so atmospheric and exciting in the right places , if I had any slight criticism it is that Native Americans in 1700 would not have used modern terms like bleed out , and that the other guys in the tribe apart from Taabe were the cliched male chauvinists but these are very minor criticisms so all in all a truly great film which was way better than I thought it would be .
