PREY (Predator 5) is Overrated + Analysis 

Nothing will ever top the master piece that John McTiernan, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Kevin Peter Hall (RIP) released 35 years ago in 1987.

This predator got hurt by everybody in this movie. Even by the wolf...

I'm glad to see a negative review, there's so much positivity around Prey it's got me thinking its all just paid advertising.

Thank You! God I felt like I was the only one who dared to criticize how the main girl got so many of her tribesmen killed because of her stubborn attitude and decision making and never took responsibility for it. Everyone I’ve expressed that opinion to either told me I was wrong or just called me a sexist.

The only reason people think this is a good movie is because the bar for movies has been set so low, mediocre garbage like Prey is considered good by comparison.

i will say it as simple as possible ... prey is moderate ... but in the sea of movies that comes out this days ... it shines bright like a diamond ...

I'm glad I'm not the only one who didn't like this movie. Everyone is falling over each other signings it's praises but I just thought it was bad. The main character was so unlikable. Not bc she's a woman. I love strong female leads. She just sucked. Her brother was a way more likeable, relatable character. Not bc he was a man but bc he though about more than just his own goals and considered the well being of the tribe as a whole.

Not a memorable predator film ? I’m pretty sure no real predator fan will forget the first movie since the original to actually somewhat attempt to be different. Especially considering it’s time period. You have some valid criticisms but others are just nitpicks. The movie was really really good, and it’s the best sequel since the original.

You nailed it! This move was so damn overrated I ABSOLUTELY question those who overpraise it, if they are even predator fans at all let alone knowledgeable of its lore. There was a sh*t tone of inconsistencies with how it thinks and acts really stupid just to make it easy for naru to beat it. The overpraises keep claiming it's a different tribe variant or some BS like that which only confirms they don't know (or care) much about the predator itself and just wanna make up crap to overjustify its stupidity in this movie. At the end this is just a feminist movie through and through. If u wanna have that message, execute it properly FFS!

Second worst protagonist of the franchise, aside the fact that a scrawny little girl with LA vibe who doesn't look at all like a hardened wilderness tribeswoman can fight not against the predator, but against human males, several human males, like is nothing; aside that, she is a self centered, unapologetic and arrogant person, she doesn't care for those around her (barely mourn her brother), who she treat with contempt, she doesn't change at all, zero character arc, and all what happened didn't even fazed her. A total psycho. She may even be the worst protagonist. Add to that that all the other characters (sans her brother) are onedimensional assholes, and the predator is a moron and you got Prey. It's a well paced, greatly shooted, awesome conceptualized, poorly scripted movie. P1 > P2 > Prey/Predators >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> The predator

doesn't have any horror .. lad do you not see the chase scenes ? shit was spooky and the fact that the preditor stalks his prey gives it a nice thrill

What's really, really funny, and almost no one seems to realize this, is that she is actually responsible for the deaths of all her male tribesman! Don't believe me?? She is specifically told not to go to a certain area coz it's out of bounds but she gladly disobeys (there she meets the bear, quicksand, etc). What happens next? All the guys including her bro are sent there to bring her back (coz she disobeyed), hence she's responsible for them being there! What happens next? They all die bcuz of her including yup, her brother. So she wants to become a toughie... does that mean her tribesmen must all die???! Such trash! What's also stupid is at the end the tribe just cheer her on when she returns and no one asks what happened to the others (the men)? Such utter garbage bullshit it's hilarious!

The last combat scene was so Bad it tell everything you need to know ,the first half is decent but After that it become dog shit.

why is she always gaping her mouth, doesn't she know that if she's not talking she can just close her mouth and breathe through her nose?

Yeah, nothing will ever be the original, but this film is good enough to help me forgive some of the shortcomings of the more recent films. I can almost enjoy them (except for the acting in AVP:r) now, knowing this exists 🤷🏻‍♂️ looking forward to more predator films that don’t suck!

The film is a good film and i recomend watching it but i just feel they didn't really care about fleshing out the preditor they just made it a feral beast and the main character has quite a bit of plot armour. But all thats fine for a good watch

This is like the guy that says the book was better. The movie was great. I was hoping for the whole crew of predators to come at the end. But the movie was great a bunch of action and the doggie does not die. John wick approves. Is not the original but it's good.

I hate how she kills the Predator at the end, ok so the predator doesn't know how it's spear dart tracks whatever the laser is pointing at (you could say it's inexperienced, but that goes beyond inexperience). It just makes the Predator look like a dumbass; how can the Predator be fooled by it's own tools? I was actually hoping that the predator would dodge out of the way and the dart would kill Naru, that would've been a ballsy move; change up the boring and tired script of all the other movies. Its a decent movie doesn't really change from the formula is basically the pre-quel to Predator 2 in a way. But yeah apart from some design changes, the movie doesn't stray to far from the original movie.

she was lucky many times in the movie. while predator was killing everything around she got lucky she survived. the film is good and worth watching, but no great as some of my friends say.

Predator did well because it was a parody. You have to look at the time, it was the 1980's, you had action movies with a hero who was this larger than life figure; he was tall, he was muscular, he had an attitude of not taking shit from anyone, there was no enemy he couldn't defeat with machine guns, explosives, blades and his bare fists. So now you have Dutch's team. His team is composed of these Billy Badasses who are all these characters, any individual one of these guys would could have had a film about their character made where they are the action hero... except it's not an action hero movie, it's the predator and now all these hero's, with their rifles and machine guns and grenades and their almost inhumanly swollen muscles are as easy to kill as old ladies. Of course Dutch still comes out on top and we're all happy for it, but that's why we love the movie, because of it's uniqueness and how they brought the hero character trope down to the depths, these were no longer our strong, valiant hero's who abide by a code of honor that carries the day, Dutch is not the winner of a hard fight, he is just the only survivor. They did an okay job at recreating that in Predator 2, but it wasn't the same and it hasn't been the same since. 'Prey' is most definitely not superior to 'Predator', it's just another installation in a franchise devoid of soul, anyone who says otherwise I am convinced is being paid by the mouse or smoke rocks, it's just another "I'm a tough chick" movie where that's what it ends up being all about

Another great video, Omaha, though I do think there is something to note that you didn't mention. You refer to the Predator as a character, and that's true, yes, but it's not a singular character. Predator is a catch-all term for all members of that species. Being an advanced civilization, the Predators have a large and varied population. As with humans, each Predator has its own personality. Not all of them act the same, just as we wouldn't expect all humans to act the same. This is relevant because yes, the titular alien in Prey doesn't quite act like, or have the same personality as, the classic Predators, but that's to be expected. Think of it like how humans hunt. Some hunters are very swift, killing their prey in just a single shot to the head, while others like to toy with their prey, egging them on, taking their time. Each hunter has their own method and personality. The same concept applies to Predators.

"The actual predator in Prey has nothing added to it. It doesn't do anything interesting, just hunts and kills anything aggressive..."...I mean... yeah next time they're going to make it juggle or develop an app. I basically disagree with 80% of things that were said in this video. And no, original Predator with wooden Scwarzeneggers acting and cartoon like music (in some moments, most of the time it was decent) is not better than Prey (at least in my opinion).
