It sure is amazing. I hope that new artists who come into the business will be able to follow in his footsteps. I know I would like to have control over my own work.
@@ethanwarner1164 I'm not sure how old Zappa was starting out. But I was just looking over some of the things prince did when he was 21 years old. American bandstand, opening for the Rolling stones. And at 22 years old writing 200 checks a week for employees. It really is remarkable what prince did at a early age. Just saying.
@@saa9099 I absolutely agree, will never be another like him. Zappa was a big fan of Prince and I believe visa versa as they were both professionals dedicated to providing the best possible product for their audience, they share a lot in common.
Chills went up my spine when he said. "God willing I make it til 60". Just something came over me I felt he was gonna say that when she asked him that question. Prince always predicted his expiration. When he made that song sometimes it snows in April. He made that on April 21st 1986. Rest in purple. :'(
+tina I LOVE this man, he was one of the best he was a musical genius there will never be another like him Such a sadness in my heart for the loss of this beautiful man.
M Rhode if more people thought that the world would be much better. People make such a big deal about everything now and days instead of moving on with their lives
This is ONE MAN who actually did “live life to the fullest”.....+ not just as a musician but he seemed to me to be very comfortable with himself. He accomplished so much in one lifetime!
bless his heart he didn't even get to live to see 60. His music has inspired me in so many ways and has gotten me through some tough times as well, but now being the age I am I will never get to experience my first time seeing him in a live concert. lord why must the good die young when we needed him the most R.I.P Prince he is no longer suffering he is with his parents and his two kids now.
yes he did love music I believe he bled music symbols and not blood. He LOVED music, it was like the air he breathes it oozed out from every pore of his body. He was a TRUE artist, a rare thing these days.
It's so sad that this wonderful man didn't make it past 60. :"( I still don't want to face the reality that he's not here. I've been crying about it too, because it was so sudden! And to know that he was alone when it happened broke my heart even more. :"( Why did we have to lose Prince, and David Bowie and Michael Jackson, and Whitney Houston, and Natalie Cole and all these other greats? Why? Death sucks man. :"/ I miss Prince like fucking CRAZY! I wish I got a chance to meet him, and see him in concert. Breaks my damn heart man.
Prince was sexy, sensual , charming , funny, talented , creative, artistic , otherworldly , bad-ass, out spoken , uninhibited, ethereal , spiritual, an enigma, unique and a SOUL BROTHER. He will always be in my heart💜. No one will every compare to you PRINCE💜
And quite the versatile actor! Remember in Purple Rain when he says to Appolonia 'what you gonna do that for'? straight up midwestern! just to name one...i have officially gone off the deep end and watched the dvd once too many times and i don't care...
I will never understand why after having a airplane emergency, going to the hospital, needing medicine, from Walgreens, why was he alone. I'll never get over him dying slumped over in a cold elevator alone. 💜👑
we come in alone and we go out alone, its sad but true , of course we all loved him so much so we all hate the sadness of his passing and the way he passed but we cant fix it, grief is hard
Ik just thinking of gin dead in that elevator it is so heart breaking that no one was ever there for him to try and save his life it's fucked up man poor Prince 😢😢😢😢
wow! he is talking about playing when he turns 60...I wish he could be still here. So devastated....balloons of purple love from us all going up in Heaven Prince. We love you
skitsy17 True, he didn't let fear stop him from being vocal about protecting his own interests, and the media made him look like an eccentric jerk instead of a clever business man. "The Powers That Be" want us to be afraid to stand up to tyranny, and that's in more than just the music industry. :(
His music is for everyone, but I still saw him for the awesome, talented, creative black guy that he was... "you cant leave a Black man in this state" - Prince. Rest In Purple.
Prince was a real sincere person. He thought different than others and that's fine. I think his childhood affected him as we all have our own issues from childhood.i loved his way of thinking to a point. Forever miss you my purple 💜💜💜 friend wish I could have met you.
Britt, he knows now. I dream about him often, just chatting with a friend, it's so real I don't want to wake up. I had a lot of freaky coincidences with him. Birthmarks in the same place, Mothers died same age same day! Weird psychic stuff. I had a vision of him all in white holding a 🌹 then weeks later a pic of him exactly the same came out. I designed a red costume for him just as a doodle for myself, then later that year he was on stage wearing an exact version and even same color outfit although he never saw my creation 😏
Hate to even repeat this thought, but after seeing him over the last few years just wasting away from 130/135lbs to barely 100lbs... he was frail...clothes just hung off him...even his complexion/skin wasn’t the same...He really had that “just don’t care anymore” look in his eyes... his music reflected it as well... very melodic, melancholy, like he was “confessing”... Sometimes a soul is “done”; finished. And I think our “Beautiful One” was tired, and ready for “The Dawn.”
@@marylawrence6709 wasnt them babies she lost one son, she stated this she had a molar pregnancy the second time the doctor detected no fetus. And she couldn't just show up at pasiley she was banned that's why she couldn't just go
This lovely man has filled my empty heart in a way that I needed at this point in my life that nobody else has done or could do. RIP dear Prince 🤴 he's so amazing and so wonderful and missed. The world is that much emptier now but wherever he is he is shining ✨️
I LOVE listening to Prince just mellow on a serious conversion and then become a kid when he's pranking someone . LET US REALIZE . The man never had a formal education . Ever bit of knowledge came from something he learned while building a musical empire (and bedding the finest women on earth) BLESS this man.
Olu Bukonla YOIu are a fucking idiot .... TELL ME what HD Pribce went to or College ? I am admiring the fact he was NATURALLY BRILLIANT . You and your fucking racist offenses to everything that any white person may say is what is wrong with the world. Now .... BITCH ... TELL ME what HS Prince graduated and what College he graduatted , you can NOT so fuck off!
No need to call names! I understood what you meant! He wasn't 'formally trained' in terms of music. He learned on his own. To the other poster: he is quite brilliant because of this.
Oh boy ..... I have been blessed by 4 years of Franciscan Monk's tutoring . I speak as they do, any thing else is just YOUR insecurities about your believes . Bible thumping sounds SO pious uh , BUT can YOU tell me what the curse Jesus put on the fig tree that did not have figs when he was wrong ? Or what Jesus said to the Pharisees at the Temple ? Or wehn he was expuslded of the land of the GARDENIANS (GAD) in souther Spain .. did not KNOE even that did you ... You words may be as pious as you want to make them , but the lord listens to your heart. And YOU are in trouble.
my 10 year old recently discovered prince's music and she loves him.she tells me mom he is a great singer..I told her he died and she was crushed..so sad I was her age the first time I heard little red Corvette...where did the time go
Prince was so many things but he was also the coolest Dude ever! NycBeauty has spoken for me in her comment already. I can only agree with her in every aspect.
2:30 He had no manager by choice. Love his explanation for that. Prince knew how to handle his money. And he studied the words that came out of his mouth before speaking them. Here with the "man" in manager. He was leery of the "con" in contract. Most managers demand at least 10% of their client's earnings and I imagine most artists today just never consider that a manager is not always needed. On the flip, some groups/artists are only where they are because they had an excellent manager to guide the way.
So basically, Prince became a corporation of sorts where he would not get fazed about comments critical of him. That is my impression of Prince using the symbol to represent him. RIP Prince
I think Prince worked himself to death. He rarely ate etc. He said he works none stop! I've been crying on and off since he died. I keep trying to figure out why he died!!! It's has become an obsession. I have to stop.
Prince was my everything. Seriously he was my father, my mother, my sister, my brother, my soul mate, my reflection....in my mind. His songs are so great it hurts. I have listened to the Purple Rain soundtrack thousands of time. Something about those lyrics move my soul. I am enchanted by his work to a point that I did not listen to any other artist for over five years. When he ascended I felt a deep loss as if my Siamese twin had been cut away and died. I really cannot accept he is gone. I hope to meet him one day. Love and Peace😇😇😇
Wow wow woow!! This is strong, deep and beautiful. You are the friend (as he'd say instead of ,,fan'') of Prince by your whole heart. I can understand :-)💜🌟 He was in the simplest words said: SURREAL in so many aspects, on so many levels. Have a lovely day :-)
I bought my first album at 13 teen ''for you'''by a unknown person. Something drew me to his album. His eye's and lip's.. And when I heard his voice...I fell in love...I miss him so much. In my heart I know he did not do drugs of any kind and the media lie's. They took own betcha by golly wow because on the back of his white coat it had 3121 on it... Something to think about.
vanitysmirror You have to remember that he said that, in 1998, that's when that interview was only 40, or almost 41 then. So he wasn't close to 57 & when he passed, he was only 2 months short of being 58 years old. So I don't think he was thinking about dieing then. 💜💜
I'm gonna keep it real, I didn't appreciate prince that much when he was with us.. I didn't realize how powerful and wise he was.. I just took him as another hot for the moment artist.. If I had the chance to apologize to him and and thank him for blessing us and sharing his gift... This is my moment.. Thank you prince rest in peace.... ✌️
Who else grew up in the Twin Cities in the 00's and LOVES Robyne Robinson?!?! She was THE newswoman to come home to as a kid after playing outside! Also had the BEST hairstyles!
IKR? So many things he said...and his last performance of "Purple Rain" at his very last performance sounded like he was saying goodbye...The way he sang it...sadly...softly...slow...like never before. Gave me chills!! Did he know something no one else did? Subconsciously or in premonition....At least in a premonition a person can take caution...and prevent the actual event...OMG!! Our minds and hearts cannot rest. We are tortured by warning signals that were there. How the chain of events occurred which should have sent up flashing red lights!!! This restlessness of ours, trying to undo his loss in our minds and disbelief is killing us!
+ANGELA FALSETTA I believe it has done it to us all will forever be reminded and haunted by that the what ifs how why when where questions that we ask ourselves why
allure searles It will never end. We are not at rest...no peace can be found... because we lost this man...and the way that we will never know. Forever haunted!! Love to you!
you always have to go away to get your home town to respect you and your music. They will love you more when they find out your from there when you made it instead of trying to come up with in your home town. Trust me, being from Hartford CT and only doing shows in Hartford font get you any where because you're just a local rapper/singer. When other people from other places show love, that's when your home town steps up says "yeah that's our home town hero". I bet it was the same when prince first started.
Especially when he still lived right in his hometown. People were so used to him being their neighbor, that whenever he came home from tour, they welcomed him with open arms. That city will be forever changed.
It's the only place Prince didn't sell out a show. It was so weird. I flew there from NY to go to a party at Paisley Park and the ppl in the airport, stores and restaurants didn't even know he was still there! When we said we were there to see Prince, they said "where?" We said "Paisley Park" and they said "Is that still there?" Whenever he threw a dance party with one days notice, only locals could come and sometimes there would be less than 100 ppl there. Parties almost every weekend in the summer and they didn't go! He let us in for $20 and he jammed like he was in an arena for 40 ppl. Apparently they didn't follow him on Twitter or IG because that's where he'd announce them. Here we were WISHING we could get there and the folks there could care less. It drove me crazy. They all came out of the woodwork when he died tho.
It just makes sense. He did all the work. Writing, playing, singing, etc. I know the company gets a cut, but come on now. He stood up for what he believed in, tall and proud. The industry is still wrong. 360 deal and setting up artists to fail. Bae, I kinda disagree with the criticizing thing. You've criticized music before. And you know you have. I think because you played all the instruments you felt like nobody could tell you anything. I get it, but you had a few albums that people didn't like which lead to criticism.
Prince had a gift, of vision: he was aware enough to know that he may not live a long life yet he was a peace with knowing. He new that 4 - 5 hours a night with pain even then may not being sustainable. He was built different.
Not true. Please please please. Prince was all about love and peace. We weren't there and don't know the circumstances or reasons for that time in his life. I do know he chose her and loved her and for that, I respect his choice. It was never about us any way or our opinions. RIP Prince
