I'm impressed that they managed to find areas in the UK that could look like NYC. I never been there but from what I've seen of photos, this scene looks like they actually filmed there... unless, they actually did. lol
I know this is obviously a fictional recreation of a real event, but I love how Diana doesn’t even hesitate. She knows exactly what kind of platform she has and what she can do with it. And the best part is, she WANTED to.
The true Queen. Princess Diana, Queen of Our Hearts. We will never forget you. And we will never forget the heartache that you suffered from your cheating husband and his homewrecking mistress.
She's a mother.. she clearly couldn't understand that.. hiv isn't important when a child needs love. Very heart warming.. a simple show of affection 😊🤗
@@melia7772 it means french kissing a corona positive person in the hope that you'll be able to do that in heaven too. That's the kind of belief people had

@The Ringo & Monte Show fr and I think at the center of it all is the queen something about her is just so off, (excluding the fact that she just refuses to die) she just seems so shady.
I love how compassionate Diana was with children. This not only stems from her former job as a kindergarten teacher, but from her childhood. Caught between divorced parents, she desperately wanted to be loved, but didn't quite know how to give it in return. 😔💔
I agree. I’m not a monarchist but you can definitely see Diana had an affinity for children. Her love and natural ease with them it’s so palpable from actual newsclips.
Not only that, it didn't surprise me that she hugged these kids. Being a parent herself at this time with 2 boys, learning that these children were abandoned by their own parents because of a disease, how could she not show affection and hug them?
@@Serenity113 The parents had their children taken from them because they were drug addicts, not because their kids got sick. They themselves likely have AIDs.
That lil boy really got me. In the 80s Being black, have hiv and Being a foster kid must be something hard For em cos no one understood em and Diana hugging em makes them so happy :,)
Diana was like a primrose. She bloomed too early (her marriage to Charles at such a young age) and died too quickly (the car crash 1 year after her divorce).
I miss Diana so much... No member of the Royal Family has managed to match the affection and admiration that she knew how to achieve with her charisma and humility. It will always be unique and even if they want to imitate it, they can hardly overcome it
@@emusaurus kate doest have the charisma and personality like of diana, she is mediocre, at her age now she is nothing compared to diana's status and works and achievements, died at 36 but accomplished so much more than those all royals combined
I wasn’t even here during this time but I’d imagine stigma against the gay community or true ignorance, or perhaps a mix of the two. Very very sad. These kids deserved so much more
remembering when she and Prince Charles went to Indonesia and met lepers at the hospital. She did not hesitate to greet the leprosy sufferers who used to be called contagious diseases. Some sources say that the Queen was angry because of this action
i mean if people thought that it was contagious the queen is right to be angry. It is so unthoughtful of diana to do so because she could have been sick and make a lot of other people sick

@@inigobantok1579 Which is funny. They say it exaggerated how poorly the monarchy and Charles treated Diana. But as someone who as watched many Royal documentaries, what the show depicted seemed pretty on point.
She's really the People's princess, imagine if she's still alive today, her compassion would bring more changes as what the world needs today, and I think she's one of the few people we do need today. Cause I have seen people still carrying today the stigma that touch could bring transmission of HIV/AIDS, which is not a fact, I have seen that bit of disgust in their faces when they'll know that someone is infected so they decided to distant themselves from them, I've studied medicine and nope, it will not, even salivary will not, Princess Diana did really a huge leap on this 1 which is the right thing to do.
I agree. I don't have hiv/aids. I'm also a (cisgender/biological female) lesbian. Society/the media may act like being LGBT or having aids/HIV no longer comes with stigma or that everyone accepts/is pro gay & pro trans, etc. However, I disagree. I've noticed this offline and I've seen it online, even though a lot of people are more accepting of being gay or trans, the stigma still exists. I've noticed this too, that a lot of people will like and say they have nothing against gay people but I'll notice in conversation that they may say something that leads me to believe otherwise or they make a face. I think being gay, especially the thought/idea of two men kissing or having sex or getting married is still a very disturbing & disgusting thing for a lot of people to accept or wrap their head around. It's like with the whole discussion of transgenders, I think a lot of people still have a disgust towards trans people. I feel like with the subject of gay people, a lot of people are willing to lie so that they seem friendly or that they won't lose their job, but based off what I've noticed, I think the trans community still has a long way to go before society truly accepts them. From what I've noticed about hiv/aids in current society, I believe a lot of people still view it as a gay disease or a disease that's shameful. I remember, in the early 2000's, I was a child then, I clearly can remember how other kids and adults would act if they subject of blood, homosexuality, or HIV/aids came up. Believe me, I still believe strongly that the stigma still exists. People just may not be as open about discussing how they truly feel. It may be more of a behind-closed-doors type of discussion. It seems very hushed up and I've come across a lot of things that would suggest that a lot of people don't think aids/HIV even exists or maybe they don't think they can get it, I guess because they aren't gay. But so many people don't use protection when they have sex, etc. I could go on and on, but this may be a topic I need to make a video about or discuss on a forum.
I think she needed help. Her bulimia was a sign of that enough, but I'm starting to think that she was afraid or even paranoid about abandonment. They should have brought a psychiatrist into the castle or helped her find one.
Sakshi Srivastava She had struggles. She was a human. The way she handled those struggles is what made her amazing. Let’s not pretend she was perfect. She was perfect because she didn’t pretend to be perfect.
Almost 25yrs since Princess Diana died but the impact she made to the world still immeasurable. She is no saint but Diana's compassion and empathy is enough to be admired even until today. She is the reason why I started watching "The Crown". Never thought I would fall in love not just with the show but to the actors as well especially to Emma Corrin. She did a great job portraying Diana as if I was watching the real princess.
I love when the Doctor says the kids can't get adopted or fostered and Diana asks, "why?" so innocently. It's like she can't possibly fathom a world in which people would be cruel to children for any reason. I know that's probably a dramatized moment, but it really speaks to her character in a subtle but effective way.
What I love most about how Diana viewed the photographers and paparazzi, was to USE them. They want to photograph her? Fine. So she'd go to all the charities and hospitals and foundations she could, and use them photographing her to bring attention to those organizations. Publicity used to benefit those who needed it, take a negative for you and make it positive for someone else.
Can we all agree that she deserves the nominations and awards she will yet to achieve! Congrats Emma for playing Diana and for bringing home that Golden Globe! 🏆 🙌🏽
This scene made me think about life, it isn´t about what we do. It is al about what we will leave behinde. This hug was so meaningfull at that time, Diana left a legacy of love behinde. Even the royals became more loving toward their own childeren.
The look on that doctor’s face said it all. She knew exactly how much that hug would mean to that little boy - deprived of love and affection because of peoples’ fears and prejudices over a disease he has no control over and suffers from every day, to be hugged not just by anyone, but by such a loved and popular public figure. And she knew what a positive effect the hug would have. The image of someone so well known and beloved touching people with HIV without any protection would achieve more than a thousand lectures, PSAs and documentaries.
Even people of former colonies loved or respected Diana. It's remarkable what legacy she made. She's one of the rare few that used their power correctly while having flaws like everyone else.
I love her...she didn't use her status to rule...she used it to work hard for the people in need, to love everyone unconditionally. This is what a royal should do for the people
Diana is the Queen the people chose. She's the first and Last Royal Family member I respected, and she's not even considered Royalty by his former husband. XD
I was so happy with the Golden Globes this year. Well-deserved awards to Emma Corrin, Josh O'Connor and Gillian Anderson, all of whom were brilliant and really made this season!
Diana was an angel but that actress studied her so well! That look she gave the child when she smiled, moved her head closer, stopped smiling and leaned in we’re princess Diana’s mannerisms to a T.
I really miss Diana. Just imagine how much her boys miss their mum. Especially in these critical time. I’m sure Diana would’ve be furious seeing her boys not talking.
@@disneyfan0557 SAD when people compare MM to Diana! Totally different women. Diana seemed compassionate and loving. MM is proving to be a gold digger classless D-list soap actress. Diana was loved and adored worldwide...
@@samlane000 Yes, but they have a point. Both of them didn't fit in with the royals. Both of them wanted better lives for themselves and their kids. Heck, Diana had planned on moving to America before she died, and she was gonna take William & Harry with her. So, it's VERY likely she would have loved Meghan.
It was maybe because he made her smile and also he wanted a hug from her so that she could make him happier and better a bit Soo cute and that hug is what the whole world needs today ❤ 😊 And when Diana is our Queen of the UK she thinks that we all need to love her and we are living in the best timeline ever ❤
Emma really put herself into Diana's shoes. She looks so natural playing the role as Diana. And I'm sure she is happy to be recognized in the industry. A bright future is waiting for her. Best wishes and good luck.
Yet another powerful scene and not only a reminder as to why we love the real Diana, Princess of Wales but to the commitment Emma Corrin did in her work this season. Fantastic work and congrats on the Golden Globe! Very well deserved
that little boy's acting was phenomenal. him looking down while they were talking about the stigma of his condition, then him smiling at diana even though shes tearing up before she hugs him 😭😭😭
What she did with that one simple hug was so powerful! It changed so many things about how people and children with AIDS are treated. No one had ever done that before.
I legit had a tear in my eye. The pure innocence of the child. Diana hugging the child, and probably the child's only hug in a long time due to the stigma of the disease at that time
@@inigobantok1579 this was the late 1980s doctors and scientists pretty much knew it spread through bodily fluids at that point but regular people weren’t aware and princess Diana advocated for it to raise awareness and information about it. There was deliberate ignorance in the treatment of aids because it was seen as some sort of moral punishment for gay men so it went unstudied and unreported for years especially in the uk.
I Felt Like she Really Understood what the Boy was Feeling. When Facing Such Personal Hardships We Want to Know that We are Loved....That Someone Cares.
Even though I know this isn’t the real moment, and that’s not the real Di, or a real AIDS patient... it still made me cry. I watched my uncle die slowly from AIDS, and she is the person who made me not scared to still love him
It was a real moment, but a bit embellished. Look up the video "Princess Diana in New York, 1989" here on RU-vid. It's a video about the actual visit The Crown's scene was based on. 40 seconds in, the doctor talks about how she picked up and hugged a little boy with aids.
Whole World was stunned & it became revolutionary milestone for AIDS movement. Intelligent stunning human with a kind heart. DIANA YOU DESERVE BILLION OF LOVES ❤
I can’t help but wonder what she would have done for HIV/AIDS patients by now if she was alive. Queen of million hearts. My inspiration, my role-model. 😭💜 May her soul rest in peace.
Diana had immense bravery and compassion towards the infected community. One of the things I'll never forget is the way James Snape, an AIDS positive nurse at the ward Diana opened, spoke about her impact that day on the entire world's perspective of individuals with AIDS. A true queen 💜
I just realized this while watching this. The reason why Princess Diana is extremely popular, not only because she had a "fairytale life" as some people believe it to be, but because her soul attracts others soul. I think Princess Diana is a higher pice of energy that coincidentally became a well known figure thus making her fame even more wide spread.
As someone living with HIV I bless the courage and brevity it took for Diana to embrace those suffering. I also bless the scientists that invented the medications that saved my life. Basically everyone with a giant heart gets some serious blessage. Paying it forward is what counts.
The people’s Princess. The world’s Princess. Diana didn’t care about being a Princess, she cared about others. She was such a beautiful light in this world, a blessing to our world. So genuine, so loving, so compassionate, so beautiful and an earth angel. She was full of class and a true lady. No one will ever come close to her. Princess Diana, you will never for a second be forgotten and always be loved.
Instead of basking herself in the light of her fame, Diana redirected the spotlight that was meant for her towards those who were forced to live in the shadows, so that they would be seen and not forgotten. She gave love wherever and whenever she could, because she understood how difficult it was to live without feeling loved.
“I think the saddest people always try their hardest to make people happy because they know what it feels like to feel absolutely worthless and they do not want anyone else to feel like that.” -Robin Williams
What an angel of mercy she was. Despite all the sadness in her personal life. Oh Diana, I cried when you died, as I cry now. You had such a big compassionate heart. I miss you. The world misses you. And your sons miss you. Queen of Hearts.
