Problem. My printer would continue to feed my sheets all at once or some individual and the others at once. Solution: The video said that it could be the quality of the paper. I copied the applications onto fresh paper then I scanned them with the printer. The pages all fed perfectly. Thank you. U just saved me $250. I was on my way to buy a new printer scanner and I watched this video. Just Awesome. thank you. It worked.

VERY helpful!!! This DID take care of my problem!! BUT, and it is a BIG but. Follow EXACTLY what he says. No short cuts. I tried, and for whatever the reason, like not unplugging both ends of the power cord, it does not solve the issue. My issue was the paper WAS pulling through but it was grabbing it too hard and too quickly, therefore damaging the upper edge of the printout. To my surprise, since this was not the exact issue in this video, it did work. So apparently it is a reset of the process and will take care of, at lease in my case, more than 2 issues concerning the feed. I would not doubt if it worked on other printers HP or not.

Step one, unplug the printer and take it outside. Step two go to garage and get a baseball bat, golf club, hammer whatever tool you like. Step three, beat this piece of junk into as many pieces as possible.
I had to undo the cover in the back and forcibly pull the paper through even after cleaning the pickup roller. After doing that twice, paper picks up every time. Thanks!
WOW 😮 !!! Wouldn't you need an extra hand to do that, how did you manage it, especially if the pickup roller isn't engaging the paper at all?! I honestly think that when the carriage jam initially occured, it shook the printer 🖨️ like an earthquake, not guessing what magnitude ☺️, I suppose, something very specific, but invisible to the naked occurred at that point. HP should have something built-in to protect parts, like they do for car engines that drop without annihilating everything around them.

The printer is picking paper a bit better now, but the Win 10 drivers still suck. Every print job I send hangs at the end. And Power cycling the printer isn't freeing up whatever in the driver / system / printer is stuck. I've got the wired version, FWIW. Steve Duval's comment mirrors a couple of friend's opinion, but I'm going to see if I can get it working.
The only printer that needs a guide to load paper. My Canon printer was 11 years old when I replaced it with this garbage, the only reason I replaced the Canon was because I needed a multi function. Stay far away from HP products.
Looking at the Printer Specifications for HP Officejet 4500 All-in-One Printer Series - ( ow.ly/8JgU303QDIV ), there are three versions of that printer with different connectivity options. All versions of that printer have USB available, one version also has wireless capability, and the third version has an Ethernet connection available. So depending on which version you have you may need a USB printer cable, or an Ethernet cable.
I've owned the printer for a long time but it has been used sparingly. The other day, out of the blue, get a carriage jam, clear that, can't clear "out of paper" error. Tried this videos and others. Support Rep attempted extortion for clearing an alleged printer virus. Computer is clean, drivers reinstalled, software reinstalled, same issue. There are no loose bits there are no loose parts the printer is spic and span clean, but it still does not want to pick up paper. I swear that driver is corrupt. So really, is it the driver or the hardware had a spontaneous failure?
Ok, I tried all of the trouble shooting steps above and still paper will not feed. I know the next step is to call support, but no one here states what could actually be causing this. I could see that the uptake rollers are not even spinning. My printer must be at least 4 years old and taking it in for repair is probably not worth it. So my question still is, "what is the real cause"? Has anyone here talked to support or has actually gotten this issue repaired, and if so, what was the problem? Thanks.
The paper pick roller is not lined up with the small roller beneath it. So now I get to pretend I'm a computer repair specialist and tear the entire thing down to see WTF is wrong with it
Dear HP Customer Support. I have the HP Officejet 4500 and the rubber pickup wheel will not rotate and thus will not pick up the paper. The several rubber wheels that run across the opening where the paper would exist after printing rotates fine, it is just the roller wheel that initially grabs the paper which is not rotating. It appears to me that whatever gears control this roller wheel are not functioning. Can you provide a possible solution? Thx.
Hehe, mine only feeds the paper when you pull off the paper jam tray. Of course, that doesn't do much good considering then it just goes out the back xD
I tried the first step and then realized maybe my HP isn't messed up i might not be doing something the right way?... I bought some tickets and i need to print them. The thing is it won't print anything.... Should i just continue the steps? Hi, I have tried all of the advice, but paper still will not feed/says there is a paper jam. I am sure there is not a paper jam because I have checked all over the printer. I do notice that even though the rollers turns, the gears (black on the metal against a white gear farther inside the printer) on the left do not turn. Please help!
It is possible that it is some other type of debris that is causing the issue. HP needs to update the driver for this HP Officejet 4500 G510n-z for Windows 10. Service options are pretty much non existent, mainly because it's cheaper to throw these units away than to send for servicing at $50 or $100 an hour. HP is scam.

My printer worked fine but when I changed to glossy photo paper to print pics it jams every time, mine is a 4512 envy, is it not designed for this type paper?
+Coyote Ta81 It does support Glossy photo paper, Load the short edge of the photo paper into the tray based on your printer type. If the paper has a perforated tab for handling the photo after it prints, load the paper so the tab faces up or towards you. Do you put the photo paper in the tray glossy side up or down? So far nothing works. From what I can tell the paper is being fed it just won't go into the print bar, or whatever it's called.
OK, got the problem taken care of. The paper path cover was not installed correctly lol. At some point it was taken off and when put back on not snapped into position right. It would print regular paper but jam on photo. Now it works perfectly. Thank you for the help.

The ink in the cartridge does not dry up, usually, the nozzles get clogged with dried ink from non-use, And then inspect the ink cartridges for any damage, ink buildup, debris, or protective tape on the contacts that might affect the proper functioning of the ink cartridge and the Printhead. This is an awful product. My HP4550 sucks up paper at random times, for example when you switch it on, then it crashes when it realises there's a random piece of paper halfway loaded. Usually when it randomly takes in paper it crashes with the paper about 1-2 inches sticking out of the output tray.
