In this installment, I cover installing the linear rails on the Y axis supports and getting the BK12 block locations ready for later installation.
My audio problems are still ongoing, so please bear with me. There's traffic noise on and off throughout the video. My apologies!

Super useful to anyone building a PrintNC (or similar) machine! Successful punching, drilling and tapping are so important!

Thanks! I wish I had more time to work on it though.

A huge thank you for documenting your build in such detail. Like you, I've watched many videos but it seemed that omissions we're in each. The one thing that caught my eye was the lack of orientation marks for the 3D printed parts. It's implied that there's an arrow on some but it's just the shape of the holes. Yes, the holes form some semblance of an arrow but an unambiguous orientation marks would help.

You're welcome! The part orientation can be a problem if you're moving fast and not paying precise attention to the wiki documentation for those steps. That's what bit me. I'm hoping that the clarification I added to the wiki article for the BF12 blocks will help folks in the future.

Nice work Gene, strictly speaking those are called center drills. They are used on a lathe to drill holes in the end of stock so that it can be supported by a live (or dead) center. Lots of folks assume they are used as pilot drill but the angle is completely different from a 118 degreee metal drill bit.

Thanks! Yeah, it was a recommendation on the Discord, so I figured I'd give it a shot. I knew they were normally used in lathes.

kudos for such accurate drilling. that ground rail is engineering porn, isn't it !? looking forward to the next instalment :)

Thanks! Using the right sized center punch along with my little printed alignment tool makes it pretty easy. I spent the weekend doing yard work, so nothing got done on the machine. :(

@@f15sim *cough* transfer punch... I did tell you ;)

FYI, You DON'T need to drill every hole. Every other is more than sufficient.

I used my one time machine trip to smack myself in the back of the head for even starting this project. Hopefully your advice will help the next builder. ;)

Would i be able to use aluminium extrusion for this job ?

In place of the 3x2 steel beam? No. Aluminum isn't stiff enough.
