Peter, the one thing I really love about your channel is the introduction of really cool tools!!! I have been subscribed to your channel for over 2 years and have learned so much. During this time I have purchased many of the tools that you use daily. An example of what I have bought includes a "Strip Light" with magnetic base, a Toyota Motor Oil Funnel, a gallon of Super Clean, and of course, I only use Denso Spark Plugs in my Tacoma. Granted, I'm too old to perform maintenance on my own, but it does help me understand my vehicle and I use these items when I need repairs performed. My most recent oil change, I took along my oil funnel to the Toyota Technician. He really loved it!! So much so, he offered to buy it. I gave him the source of purchase and told him to have the dealership purchase it to speed up oil changes. He felt this was a good idea. Again, love the channel. Thank you so much Peter for sharing your knowledge!!!!
In doing some minor snooping it appears his shop is scheduled to re-open Sept 7. So in all likely hood, he's in the midst of a move. At least that's what I'm hoping. He's a great guy and I do love his vids.
Peter, you’re the greatest Toyota mechanic in the world! My 2003 Tacoma PreRunner 5VZFE 298k I put 140k of that and done plenty of work on it. It has me confused. Cranks and won’t start. Is there someway I could ask you questions on fixing it? I’ve done ALL my own work for my 140k, 9 years I’ve owned it. Timing belt/water pump, full front end rebuild, valve covers, Throttle body, etc. I’m stumped on it right now though. If you have time and a way I could contact you, would be eternally grateful. Thanks!
I had my 04 Tundra cats stolen. I installed a 1/8 " skid plate and had the muffler shop weld the skid plate onto the frame in several places. I wasn't going to just rely on the bolts that held it place. This plate seems far too flimsy and a angle grinder will cut through those screw heads in seconds. He should spot weld it in several places as well. Because of how flimsy the metal is, thief could easily cut through the sheet metal with big tin snips nice and quiet.
Most are looking to cut the cat out and get away as fast as possible so they don’t get caught. So if they see one of these, most will move on to one that is faster and easier. That is all they are looking for with these guards. Besides there are other devices and methods to stop the theft by causing “consequences” to occur.
My local Toyota dealer sells vertical plates to be used in conjunction with the bottom one to make it a cage… thieves have figured out how to work around the flat plate without even cutting it!
Hi Peter, Congrats on 100k! Any chance for a video on hybrid in neutral not charging battery and associated alarm. My 06 Highlander/hybrid has batt alarms while in N going through the car wash and I wonder if its telling me the battery is getting near end of life. Thx
do those gold rivets come with the cover? Where do you get the toll to install? It would be great if you have a list of tools needed to install or may be cheaper to take it to get it welded on??
Aw you cut your hair! I thought it was cool, man! ALTHOUGH in the summer I know it would be hotter. Don't let the commenters get to you too much! Yes eventually you will need a haircut but know that we are here for your expertise first and foremost. A busy tech with long hair and cares about the car more? That's what I want over a useless newbie pretty boy. Thank you professor. Always look forward to your repairs. Sorry about your neighbors. When you did the bearing video I heard only the air hissing. And now this crazy moto guy. At least the birds are around singing today and not the beeping of the bobcat construction bulldozer always making beep beep backing noises this time.
Hi sir I have 2007 Toyota Prius 2nd generation I need installation protection should can you pls where’s are you lacted I live Long Beach California stat where are yours locations thanks
I sold my second-generation Prius 2 months ago because of this problem. They visit me 2 times and the last time was with cover also ( not the same brand). In my case, nothing could stop them. Unfortunately, I had to sell my magnificent car. :(
We're sorry to hear this happened to you. Thieves tend to get what they want given the environment or amount of time given to steal catalytic converters. With the development of Cat Shields, many thieves have begun to think outside the box so we adapted with them. We developed the DeadBolt add-on for Gen 1 / Gen 2 2001-2009 Prius' to prevent thieves from accessing the front pipes of the catalytic converter. I have 2014 toyota corolla and it's making a weird sound every once in a while a weird sound, i took it to toyota and they changed the drive belt but it's still making some sound what it can be can you please help me
I hate to say it Peter but if I didn't live approx 7,970 miles away I could show you just how easy and quick it is to defeat those anti tamper screws very quietly without using similar anti tamper/theft bits. I won't put it in writing here as I don't want cat thieves to know.
It might sound crazy. But if you're paranoid thief's will get their hands on these unique bits. You could always strip the screw head so bad you can't remove them. A little extreme but effective.
Not worried about the heat generated from being enclosed? Those vents look a little tiny compared to wide open aeration. But then again who can get a hold of a cat these days.
All our Cat Shields are designed with louver vents to give our customers the best product on the market. They are not simply there for looks, but help cool your vehicle and protect it from debris. Check out the scientific reason behind our design here: catshield.com/pages/faqs-tech-info
Great q & a provided. Was just concerned about say parking on a field with tall grass. I heard that the heat from a cat could start a fire and CA doesn't need that right now. I've never seen it myself but some dealerships would tell me to never park with tall grass.
