Yes, it's late but the PRO-800 can be ordered now. There may be reasons why years have passed since the first announcement - nevertheless, here are my reasons for Behringers keyless version of the Prophet 600.
Supposed to be 80,000 pre orders... if so, that will make the Pro800 one of the most popular synths of all time! If Behringer are making $100 on each synth, thats 8 million in profit (not prophet!) alone.
With so many vintage synth pages, there's a lot of info on the production run for classics like how many Minimoogs or Prophet 5s were made, although those numbers are approximations. It's even closer to real numbers when you get to the number of Korg M-1s or Yamaha DX-7s that were made. The number of production runs for these modern synths is really up there, probably helped by the fact that with RU-vid, the mass public finds out and gets to see/hear them in action on these content pages. Makes me wonder how many OB-X8s there will be and how many sales when the production run is over, and that makes me wonder.... how many people would have been clamoring for the vintage synths of old when they were brand new if RU-vid had existed back then? Hey that new Prophet 5 sounds awesome. I gotta get one ;) The production run of the new rev 4 has got to be way higher than the total revs 1, 2 and 3 combined...
I ordered one as well. The expected delivery date, here, in the States is the 2nd week of October. So I will need patience in abundance. Should be worth the wait. Thanks Pete for all your great videos.
What? On Thomann the expected delivery time is 12-15 weeks, which means sometime in August. Aren't you able to order from Thomann in the states as well?
Sensational price for a great 8 voice all analog Polysynth. I mean this is cheaper than the mere 4 voice Korg Minilogue Xd. And, yes, the fact that you now can store patches is something that is the most important aspect of it. That is what is holding me back from ordering more Behringer Synths. I only have the Model D (which is good) and the TD-1 (which was more a disappointment to be honest). But I'm fed up with the lack of patch storage for the Model D when the Legend is sounding almost identical and can store patches (And is polyphonic).
and...plenty of sequential instruments available as a plug in if you are comfortable working in the box. UHE Diva covers most analogue synth sounds, it's pretty much a classic itself!
Amazing sound, can you make this kind of sound on mini freak or op1 Field? I'm thinking of getting the mini freak or op1 Field to complete my setup with some synthetic sounds to my handpan looping station
That's a fantastic price for an analog poly, but I still want to wait for the Pro 16 or UB-Xa desktop versions. I have no idea how long I'll be waiting, though. 😕
But by now his pro800 has arrived, because I ordered mine afterwords and it has arrived yesterday. But @PeteMidi will be playing with it the whole time, so we can expect the relating video in a week or two I think.
I need to give Behringer a chance with their other gear. I always want an original or a remake from the OM. But whenever I hear Behringer's replica/remake versions, I'm always surprised. Maybe I need more than my TD-1 haha. Good video as usual Pete 👍👍
but 2 of them are 😆. Have pre ordered 2, them gonna run them through 2 sem filters (doepfer) and then insert the big sky. I'm hoping with a small degree of confidence that it will sound epic. Am very impressed with what behringer are doing here.
@@specialistsound that’s about as stereo as it gets then! It does seem like many people have gone for two units. I think I even saw that someone had 3…. I couldn’t believe the price, had to get one the morning of the announcement. It sounds lush in the demos - Behringer are smashing it.
I just meant the combination of prophet 5 and pro-800 would be stereo, in contrast to the prophet 5 extension board. But I'm also tempted to order a second 800 😉
