Theres levels to fighting. Its the only sport where fat dudes on the couch think that they can compete with pros. Ive been in and arounf the fight game off and on since 2002. Untrained peiple have zero clue how helpless they really are in a physical confrontation. Ive trained for 20 years and Mitch would disassemble me in minutes. He had zero chance against Strickland and yet idiots at home think that they could compete with either of them. Sorry, rant over. It's a pet peve of mine.
Love the story about how he at first considered the others not worthy of the challenge. Then he was humbled as he found himself unprepared and was helped by the very people he had earlier insulted. Great story. I need one of those STAY HUMBLE shirts.
Mitch Aguilar & Every other Vet, National Treasures! Even tho there are levels, And Mitch is on another level, they are all National Treasures! Thank You guys! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Watched entire episode and first came across him on RO’s podcast. Actually helped get me into fasting and it’s AMAZING! Gonna get sum Smashin’ Greens and Reds next! So glad to hear his stand-up to C19.
What badass dudes must have been the Greeks.. No Nike shoes , no roads, walking through the mountains wearing sandals , no socks , no food ... I presume they had to hunt and search for fresh water , no pain killers , no hotels , nothing... All these in full armor, and all these (and more I can't even think off) knowing they have taken the no return road.
Do you have something baked into your channel where your videos only play while I’m sleeping? Your channel never shows up on my feed or in my recommended or anything until I wake up at 3:30am and there’s a fucking 3.5hour Mike Ritland podcast on. Happens often
People should really look into Spartan history. Mandatory military homosexuality, women not allowed to be seen in daylight, brutal slave masters, and on and on. They were a disgusting lot
Didn’t know much about Mitch - but I find him to be genuine and he has a great perspective about things he has been a part of in his life. Plus he has a Pig - lmao - which makes him good in my book- I have three lol. Great Show today
Love this podcast, but ya'll really need to read your history. The ancient greeks had pankration, which was basically bare knuckle MMA, and was the main event at the original olympics. There's a ton of ancient artwork showing people doing heelhooks, armbars, strangles, etc. Everything that we train in BJJ today (No Gi), was being practiced thousands of years ago(the only exception would be the triangle choke which wasn't known to be invented until the 20th century).
Regarding people not being able to think for themselves and being told what to do, how to do it and when to do it, I have owned companies for 32+ years and I remember back when I was looking for my first employees, the single hardest trait to find was a self-starter, self-motivated individual that I could train, then turn loose. Sure, almost EVERY individual that you talk to will claim that they are both, however for the job position that I was hiring for, they had to walk the talk, not just talk it, as they would get exposed very quickly, and very very few could. I was hiring supposedly the "best of the best," that top-2%+, and based on their resumes and past track records, they were, however they were successful in highly monitored environments. Like Mitch, I was stunned with some of the questions that they asked. The bottom line was that I was looking for sheep dogs, though the majority of the world was/is comprised of sheep🐑🐑. Today's youth are even worse, and I'm talking from the Top-10 Biz Grad Schools, lol. Continued Success🍻 RP
The average size of Spartans, taken from archeology, is 5ft4 to 5ft7 and 135 to 155lbs. They were extremely fit, extremely skilled with weapons, and would absolutely smashed by any mediocre professional fighter. Imagine what a John Jones or Anderson Silva would do to one. They had very basic grappling based on historical findings and the levels of striking would be rudimentary compared to today. There's also the jack of all trades, master of none thing going on. They spent far more time with swords, spears, and shields and they also had to tend to their crops and animals.
Regarding the 'no jiu jitsu' in Spartan times, they did have wrestling, pankration (and pammachon, the combat version of pankration). Granted, today's game is far more refined and in a pure grappling ruleset I'd give it to modern athletes but it would probably be a lot more close stylistically than people may think.
In regards to the line drawn , I’m with Mitch , my theory is “ can I walk away from this ?” If it something that if I walk away gonna feel like a coward , feel guilty , I’m going to in , regardless of what happens , done it numerous times , thankfully only got held by cops once but cut loose from scene
Totally with you on COVID I was shocked and very disappointed at how many people just went along with the stupid "rules" that made no sense. Calling out the BS got me on a number of S-lists. Sorry to hear about your business, listening to this podcast I know you will be back stronger than ever.
One issue with this conversation, 75 hard isn’t a “challenge” it’s a one small step of year long program. So no it should not be “tailored” to a specific individual. If you can’t follow the standards of a program then what standards do you upheld? (No disrespect to Mr. Ritland and his guest this is one of my top 3 favorite pods)
Agreed. God put all that stuff into the food we eat for a reason. It's really something the way people think they're "improving the formula" so to speak. Even the plains Indians foraged for edible plants and stuff. They didn't just eat meat and nothing else.
so glad mitch said something about cell phone radiation. its like no one talks about these things even if it wasent spoke about deeply atleast it was heard. love it man keep it up
yeah why talk bout cell phone radiation when he was shooting lead all day as a navy seal all those explosions and training your gonna have a high exposure to chemicals and blast so worrying bout cell phone radiation is crazy
Umm you do realize that you’re getting small doses of radiation every single from the sun. It’s sounds like your more scared of the word radiation than learning exactly what it is. I work at a nuclear power plant, if I get 1 single X-ray at a Doctors office, that X-ray is a higher rad dose than Me working an entire year at the nuclear power plant. Point is that it’s not *what* you are getting radiation from , it’s *how much* / how big of a dose
@@banks4realmusic413you’re right, people hear “radiation” and their brain thinks “Chernobyl”. Cell phones have never given anyone brain cancer or any other malady, except for maybe carpel tunnel because they never put the damn thing down.
This guy could be my twin mentally and look alike. A humble Buddha. I think the same as he. What a great story. Mike drop is my favorite podcast and humble Mike is the best podcast host.
