@@joshmcatee689 i was kinda surprised ngl. I checked his yt channel then he had like less than 10 videos and im like "wtf? U only have that much videos but ur so good"
@@hkarma8580 I'm not certain about that. Wolfey got to the Elite 4 in Emerald Kaizo, which is extremely impressive, because he only played Emerald Kaizo for just 1-2 Months if I remember codrectly and he got as far as PC got in like 8 months. Just because you don't have as much experience in Nuzlockes, it doesn't mean that you can't be amazing at them (even though that is obviously a factor), because being one of the best pokémon players ever will also be a huge pro for Nuzlockes.
@@huekeks2231 A lot of people look at how long it PC is taking with Emerald Kaizo, but leave out how he started out blind with no help. but people starting now start out with 20 different calculators, catalogued exact stats of every pokemon in every fight, and tons of written strategy and advice.
@@orangesilver8 Yes, that is true. I still think that getting to the elite 4 even with all of the calcukators rn is impressive and that Wolfey is an amazing Nuzlocker. However, it probably is mkre impressive that PC came extremely far blindly and when the tools were completely developed it was only a question of time until PC got to the Elite 4 and it is a question of luck how long it will take him until he beats the game as a hardcore nuzlocke.
I would love to see a soul link between you two. There are so many times where you guys literally explain the exact same benefits and/or thought processes, I feel like you two would be a good team.
Pc you're reviewing the wrong video. The one that is impressive is when he's playing the mono fire HC nuzlocke where only chimchar and ponyta are the only available Pokémon. It's epic
I can't imagine being part of PC's Twitch chat and calling literally anything or anyone cringe. That chat is ridiculously stupid on an average day and unbearable on a bad one.
Mfs will be like "this run seems too easy with EV training" and ignore that there's less than 10 encounters in the whole run, and half of them are mono fire type
FlygonHG is one of my favorite nuzlockers. Hes usually really good at explaining his thought process and factors in calcs and goes into IV talk. Very helpful for a noob baby like me at nuzlockes.
I just like how he doesn't start every video with the condescending dogshit phrase " I'm the best nuzlocker in the world" 🤢🤮 literally makes me hate pc eeeeevrytime.
@@Fanimati0n hey I'm down with that lol I like flygon forsure. It's not that I don't like PC it's just I hate that super giant ego of his 😂😂😂 I've seen that man make dozens of fuckin mistakes . Can't be the best in the world if you fuck off that much 😂😂
And he has a real knack for picking interesting challenges; my introduction to him was the Smeargle-only run that popped up in my recommended bar, and his sense of humor reeled me in right off the bat. The 'baby pokemon only' run was also really interesting. Honestly, his content's been keeping me sane this semester; I've been having a really rough time with grades because of health issues, but Flygon always has the most chill vibes and just helps me space out and forget about things for a little while. I couldn't recommend him enough
@@darkphoenixgaming8253 Aang is the protagonist from avatar the last airbender, he named his Eevee (which evolves into Flareon) that cause Aang masters all 4 elements within the show (water, air, earth, and fire), which is similar to eevee having elemental themed evolutions, not sure what the OP meant by "both" Aang jokes tho, suggesting that there's two, ig I missed the other
Azula has a calm nature.... “Yes! We defeated you for all time! You will never rise from the ashes of your shame and humiliation!” Yes, indeed. A very calm child.
I love the question "Who plays pokemon for the story?" in twitch chat. No one plays it primarily for the story, but jesus does it have to be complete shit each gen? Even if you don't play it for the story, doesn't mean they have to give you Cocomelon level storytelling.
Technically, when you play spin-offs like Pokémon Colosseum, Gale of Darkness, the Mystery Dungeon games, and the Ranger games, you then have games with great stories. You don’t play mainline Pokémon for the stories. But perhaps the worst part about Sword and Shield is that if you aren’t preparing for competitive, you are going to have a horrible time because everything about that game is crafted to be bad no matter how you play or for which reasons you play.
@@mochiyeosang1908 SwSh graphics are great compared to the 3DS games, but compared to other games of different series on the Switch, the graphics... weren’t great. Talking about the wild area specifically; the cities were pretty good-looking. Wild area had awful textural irregularities, weird framerate drops, and clipping, though the DLCs improved that stuff (didn’t eliminate it entirely still). But DLC also brought that... less than desirable follow system, so... yeah. And we also have to talk about the frankly underwhelming pokemon in-battle models. I’m sure they chose to downsize them in battle to make the dynamax models more impressive, but honestly how often do you see dynamax models as opposed to the regular ones? Totally breaks immersion to see a tween-sized Gyarados on the battlefield. IC, graphics were a mixed bag
@@iantaakalla8180 but they don't have to be that bad. Many fan made games have great or at least adequate stories. It's great that the ranger games and gale darkness have good stories. Why can't that be in mainline games. It's the difference between selling 10 million because people will buy any pokemon game and selling 15 million because you've made a good game that even non pomemon fans want to experience.
Moral of the story: Gems are broken in Unova. Bring them all back please. Even if the boost is only 1.3x like the post-Gen-5 Normal Gem instead of 1.5x. They're literally in the game's code, even a Fairy Gem. Disappointment in Game Freak out of the way, FlygonHG's run was not at all a disappointment. Best nuzlocker reviewed so far except for maybe Wolfe
I would like to see you react to his monotype in diamond, in which he manages to get to elite 4 with only infernape and rapidash. basically a monotype with 2 pokemon only
Monotype nuzlockes can be really interesting in fangames where all mons from all generations are available, you end up with a lot of variety in encounters despite restricting yourself to monotype.
A little sidenote: In Castelia City, if you want to catch an Eevee, just grab a level 19 Pokemon, use repel and walk through the grass, both the dark and light grass work. The only encounter that can happen with this setup is an Eevee. Makes it much easier and faster to get one
The thing I love about these monotype nuzlockes is having to come up with extremely specific plans to beat the gyms or hard fights that have an advantage against you. Coming up with smart plans to beat the water and ground gyms are really interesting.
I remember this with my mono Rock run on BW2, I used everything I had in order to minimise the damage I was taking, using Light Screen, Sunny Day and multiple Struggle Bugs, as well as Safeguard. After sacking Onix (the MVP that swept the first 5 gyms, Clay included) to get rocks up, all of the setup allowed Crustle to set up twice on the Wailord despite the Scalds and SpD drops which allowed me to sweep with only the one planned sack. Then you have Skyla who is basically just "set up rocks then haha shell smash".
"Although, to be fair, rival fights against Bianca are not that difficult." This is a factually true statement; however, during my first ever Nuzlocke (I'm still on the same run, actually) in Pokemon Black, I was completely unaware that there was a Bianca fight on Route 8. This normally wouldn't be a problem, since Bianca really isn't a strong trainer; however, at the time it just so happened to be raining in my game. Since I picked Tepig as my starter (best Gen 5 starter btw), Bianca had a Simipour with Scald on her team. Most people, in this fight, would have a very easy switch into Simisage and move on with life. My idiot self left Simisage in the box and brought a team of Emboar, Darmanitan, Krookodile, Carracosta, Fraxure, and Cofagrigus. I thought that there was no way I would run into a trainer with a water type strong enough to break my Fraxure. Even when I saw the Simipour initially, I thought to myself, "That's no problem; my Fraxure has five levels of advantage." The problem? I got burned and crit on switch-in. Now, instead of a good roll for an OHKO with easy 2HKO if not, I was dead to the next hit of Scald. And those who have Nuzlocked B/W should know how huge of an asset Haxorus can be for the Elite 4 and final battles (as I have been quickly learning by doing E4/Team Plasma prep). I quickly pulled up the damage calculator to see if I was in trouble, and (of course) I was. Emboar and Darmanitan were completely helpless, Krookodile could never pick up the OHKO I needed even if I sacked Emboar to bring it in, and Carracosta's bulk was so bad that it would be 2HKO'd (and at the time, I really wasn't sure what my E4 team would look like, so I didn't want to sack it). My only hope was Cofagrigus (and a crap ton of healing items). With the HP EVs I had invested, as well as Cofagrigus's natural bulk, Scald crit into burn damage was never an OHKO. So, I stalled out Bianca's uses of Scald. In the end, my Cofagrigus survived five crits, a second hit burn, and being dropped to 2 HP and put that stupid monkey six feet under. The rest of the fight was a piece of cake, with the rest of my team, but that's one of the few things about my run that has really stuck with me... That and how stupid Bide is and the fond memory of Cress taking away my Lillipup because I just didn't have better death fodder at the time.
@@raerohan4241 i always find gen wunners that shit on gen 5 to be hilarious. They'll shit on tepig, but squirtle was literally a blue turtle. Man, watching after one year and mostly just noticing the difference in quality between Flygons videos then and now. One of my favourite content creators!
I love how chat just laughs out load and doesn't not get that it's a joke when Flygon pronounce Arcanine, bet they felt real funny and smart right there xd
after weeks of watching jan's content without subscribing, his direct call out to me at the beginning made me finally give in and subscribe. i'm now a part of the cesspool of youtube commenters and viewers that he absolutely despises, but it's for the algorithm so it's ok 🤝
You know how Flint has a bunch of random Pokémon in diamond/pearl? Yeah, he tried this challenge, lost to Cynthia, then caught some random moms to fill out his team.
What I like about monotype challenges that they are kinda short and not encounter based or good rng based and it shows how much of a stategy you can juice out of a usually small selection of pokemon
When I do Nuzlokes I'm gonna start each video saying "I'm probably the best Nuzloker in the world with over 4 hours of experience." As an homage to you, the guy who made me want to actually do them
Nice! The nuzlocker I respect the most reacting to my favorite nuzlocker! FlygonHG has a lot of monotypes, including a diamond fire only, and is really smart about how he plays
I did this in Pokemon white not knowing reshiram was a fire type at the time (it was my first time playing gen 5 and it wasn't a nuzlocke) and I just kinda beat down clay with scald embore which I'm as surprised as you are the first time I saw a fire type learn a water type move before volcanion so yeah
after watching this story, I'm imagining this guy's character retiring after becoming champion and setting up his fire-type gym, which would soon become known as the Hell Gym by all trainers trying and failing to get a badge from him in the future...
I actually love watching FlygonHG's challenge runs, between him, Scott's Thoughts, and Jrose11 i honestly can't decide who i like more. They're all extremely adapt at their styles, granted Jrose is almost strictly Gen 1 as is Scott's Thoughts, but still they make stellar content imo
The core of these videos is how well Jan can transition to his sponsors. Much like how Core can help transition you into competently creating your very own games without the need to learn code.
I love flygonHG and its so cool to see this vid after getting into your channel! dude really has some good skills and 2 years later he's honed them even better, love watching his vids!
You should react to this guy who did a hardcore platinum run, he made some rookie mistakes but also made some high level plays by grinding up friendship for Pokémon who evolve with max happiness for upcoming gyms.
Fun fact for anyone curious, the reason Iris' Haxorus went for dragon dance is because it speed tied with Chandelure, and Gen 5 AI will almost always prioritize speed control over a kill. Also in case anyone's curious for Flygon's Chandelure to be speed tied with max speed EV's it had to have had either a 5 or 6 IV in speed, so at the end of the run all the EV training did in fact save the run.
He's both. Watching someone who knows how good they are is a bit tiring cos he's the least modest youtuber i've ever seen, but he's also the best at the game.
@@asdfg3046 1) it's still good practice; 2) just by probability eventually you can get lucky and win even with bad early game encounters; 3) imagine taking youtube comments seriously kekW
The 'you think you're subscribed but you're actually not, go scroll down and subscribe' actually worked on me this time 😂 been watching your videos for the last couple of days and am really enjoying them, subscriber count +1 😄
Thank you I'm not alone in my love of Chandelure, my friends always bring it up as backup for their Gen one propaganda, but in my favorite pokemon list it placed 10th . The fun I've had with this mon is wild and I actually love the possessed object pokemon Archetype. This one being by far my absolute favorite in that little sub genre of Pokemon.
for only the fourth nuzlocke Flygon did, this really shows off how analytical he really can be. He fought his way out of hard situations by doing what he needed to do instead od being so hyper focused on the potential downsides of every play and being obsessed with shoring up the downsides. I think that's the biggest thing many beginning nuzlockers have a hard time getting past
Hey man, I would appreciate a Pokemon Blaze black nuzlocke. However this one is different, 9 years ago a youtuber called PJHD did this and since then noone has done it. The new rule is that you can only use any healing center once. So you can only use your mums heal once and heal only once from every pokemon center. PJHD got upto victory road before he dissapeared off the planet.
