I’m a month or so away from turning 40. I worked as an auto mechanic, truck driver (owner operator), freight broker and now dispatcher. Feels like I wasted my life! If I had $200k burning a hole in my pocket, I would not hesitate to learn to fly! $50k for part 61 school and the rest to live on while actively training. Where was this pod cast when I was 20 and could live with parents?! Ha. Hope the stars align for me to end up where you guys are sooner than later. Love all of your podcasts!

I'm in flight school right now and these podcast are so useful. It's hard to find this information being new to the aviation world. Thanks for putting this out 👍

Ok so you guys are very much like me personality wise. I’m a 24 year mtg guy, played football in college ( Oregon State and Utah State ) but unfortunately I did not find way into a cockpit until the age of 41 the day my grand-daughter was born. The other grandpa is a very experienced and wealthy pilot and he asked me if I wanted to fly the Baron back to the ranch with him, of course I said hellllll yes! He asked me if I wanted to fly alittle, and from the second I touched the yoke I was truly in-love. Trying to manage generating business and getting through training has not been easy but I purchased a PA28 180 so that has helped a lot with building time and not having to wait on planes being available to rent. At this point I have my PPL/IRA and working on my commercial now and should have that done in a month or two but I will be 48 at that point. I truly would appreciate a quick call with you guys so can get your opinion on some of my goals. Don’t want to put any contact information here but maybe I can send you guys a private message with my information. Thank you very much for any information you can assist with👍

Wow I am glad I found you guys. I was smiling and laughing through out the entire video! Everything you talked about was exactly how I feel. I’ve also got a very entrepreneurial spirit and can’t wait to be able to leverage my pilot salary to get into real estate and more. Flying has always been my everything and I’m so excited to have a job I truly LOVE! Thanks guys for the motivation!

Had an experience similar to the Charlestown trip. I was Air Force maintenance prior to flying, absolutely hated my life. Took an airplane down to Nashville on a ferry trip, had such a great time, stayed in a really nice hotel. Couldn't believe that soon that was gonna be the norm.

Wow. This was really interesting! If I could afford to quit my job and train to be a pilot, I would lol

This is incredible, it’s so strange the word hasn’t got out with how cool of a career this is, how well it pays, how few hours you work compared to other people, the amazing destinations and travel perks. It’s all too good to be true! I already wanted to do this, but I’m much more willing to take out a loan and do the accelerated training to get there ASAP and do this full time. Keep it up!

The barrier for entry is more than just financial, a lot of people don't have the determination and motivation to get through the training.

QUESTION: Expand on that bidding for 1 day/mo & working reserve.---How does that pilot make any money?--I thought if you swap flights, the 75hr/mo guarantee is no longer guarnateed??

This is really great to hear. What about the downsides, like being away from home, missing holidays and family events and the like?
@ProPilotPlaybook

Hi Nate, it varies greatly depending on what company you're with. You can miss some holidays for sure and family functions. Keep in mind, all jobs have downsides. Thank you for the comment.

I was thinking cargo, but if corporate is THIS good, then I might just go that route. I can create my own flight plan, get snacks, and schedule maintenance for 2/3rds of the month off.

@donovanknowles2641

the airlines pay you a minimum amount of hours even if you didn't actually fly those hours. if you bid reserve as a senior you wont fly much but will still get your full flight hours pay.
