She's said it in multiple interviews, Bunny is a Rider is about this power you feel when you deliberately make yourself not available (for social activities, relationships, etc.)
yes, but she's also said that most of the lyrics are just a vibe and she's just saying stuff that sound good even if they don't make sense. haha a queen.
And Enya, too! Especially in the more laid back tracks (Go As A Dream). To me, that's the third vertex to the "Caroline inspiration triangle". But of course she brings her own new feeling to it all. Personally I finally got into her music in 2022 thanks to her appearance in Charli XCX's CRASH. Started with Door, got hooked straight away, and I can't stop...
To answer your question on the meaning of bunny is a rider. She said on Charli XCX’s podcast that Bunny is anyone who is booked, blessed and busy. Someone who never looks at their phone because they are always somewhere doing something at all hours of the day. Like a fugitive on the run, bunny never contacts anyone. No one can ever get hold of them.
This album has unreal production, songwriting and technical performance. Really crazy how advanced pop music can get in today's age. This record feels like alien technology to me.
saw her live twice this weekend and what's insane is she's able to hit all of these crazy high notes and vocal runs with no backing track! truly such a talented musician!
My favorite keeps changing, went from Butterfly Net to I Believe to Blood and Butter. Here’s the thing…I’m a 72 year old man, raised on Jefferson Airplane, CCR, lots of old soul, and ultimately, Little Feat. I’ve never heard anything like Ms P. I’m obsessed, listening to Chairlift, Ramona Lisa, Pang, and now Desire. Saw her in Chicago, so creative and dynamic. Love that she’s now popping up on stage with Weyes Blood and Lorde.
I think bunny is kind of explained by themselves refering to Alice in the second verse... It's the rabbit, always on the run...always a rider but so non physical...
thank u so much for this reaction!! we appreciate all the effort🤍 here are some albums that you would love :) -Melodrama by Lorde -Titanic Rising by Weyes Blood thank you!!!
This woman,😮 I have played this album so much I feel like I was in the studio with her.one of the 2000s top 50 albums and most moving.Fly to you is already a standard.and grimes and dido on same track..her former band Chairlift is great also..great reaction,KENT IN OHIO.
She also writes w a lot of intention and all the songs are used to build a very chaotic narrative. There’s a lot to analyze there I would love to hear what you have to say about it
i'm enjoying every minute of this reaction. your breakdown of "I Believe" is amazing, it could totally be a standalone video. keep doing these reactions, please!
the production and songwriting in this album is unreal!!! my favorite thing is when she repeats melodies or production bits in different songs… like easter eggs that connect the album. Pretty In Possible and Smoke in the “Dadadada” melody as well as the “Elijah!” Grimes melody in Fly to You being the same as the bagpipe in Blood and Butter and the Bunny Is a Rider whistle towards the end of I Believe.
Rumba flamenco is an actual style which is maybe what you were thinking of with that type of guitar strumming, which is a mix of the two, though I would say the track is not straight up that style but inspired by it. She recorded a lot of the album in Barcelona so it makes sense that that people would automatically say flamenco. The guitar on the recorded track is very synthy sounding, but when they play it live, they use a real Spanish nylon guitar which actually sounds a lot better and natural.
@@freezingpoints 1. Does This Inspire You (2008) 2. Something (2012) 3. Arcadia (2014) 4. Moth (2016) 5. Drawing The Target Around The Arrow (2017) 6. Pang (2019) 7. Desire I Want to Turn Into You (2023) 1, 2 and 4 are from her in Chairlift, and 5. is an ambient album. So 3 solo albums with vocals.
First video I've seen of yours, and full album gang! I think this is gonna be an all-time album for me tbh, loved having it -actually- analyzed and examined. A lot of other react channels tend to be either purely masturbatory (which is nice every once in a while) or purely slapstick, so this was very refreshing and engaging.
I'm addicted to watching people be jumpscared by the bagpipes in Blood and Butter. Cannot get enough of this woman just stunting all over this album in a completely humble and impressive way, was lucky to catch her live this year and can confirm she DELIVERS. What you hear on the album is what you get face-to-face, an absolute consummate professional. Really appreciate your breakdown, and as an aussie I am stoked to hear an accent like mine in this space Personal fav tracks gotta be Blood & Butter, Smoke and Pretty In Possible
you should try listening to Erika De Casier too! she just released called 'Still" this week and her first two albums 'Sensational' and 'Essentials' are top tier pop albums!
Love this album and your reaction. I would recommend you to listen to (BTS) RM's debut album INDIGO which has beautiful instrumentations and great lyrical content. The album features heavy weight artists like Erykah Badu & Anderson Paak. 😊
Interestingly enough, nobody needs to be told why a great song is great. We instinctively know because it has good hooks (we can all identify the hook) and makes interesting points or has good structure. What we REALLY need from this channel is to see YOUR songs, and why and how you wrote them. Even if it is just guitar and vocals, a good song will slap no matter what. Again- less reaction to things we already know and can tell you before you say it, more in-depth teaching of techniques to dive and listen for the best melodies/hooks.
