Question: I tried this trick. I went to the trim tool, right clicked. Turned on TCE & i stretched out the wave clip just like you said. However, when I play the clip back, it sounds like it has been affected by time shift: as if I turned down the speed or lowered the pitch transpose. Is it supposed to do that? And the longer I stretch the wave out with the TCE method, the worse & worse it sounds. Am I doing something wrong? Or is this to be expected? Forgive my novice approach and lack of correct terminology.

Hey there, it’s normal. There are definitely limitations to the tool and the more times you repeat the procedure, the worse it gets. That’s why I recommend only doing it once (you can simply undo if the manoeuvre wasn’t what you wanted). That’s because it re-renders the clip everytime you stretch. It also has to do with the sample rate (audio files with higher sample rates give better results). So, to conclude… The purpose of this tools is mainly for small tweaks. For something more robust, use audio suite plugins. Hope that helps, thanks! - Stefan

@@decibelpeak Thank u much. So so much. This is gonna be huge for making my beats sound much more perfected & professional. On a side note: Once I tried applying the TCE technique to the sound I needed to tweak (half second sampled piece of a guitar over a baseline) & I took it & put it on a track with elastic audio enabled, it also helped quite a bit. I was just spitting in the wind, thru trial & error kinda thing, cause I'm not too familiar with elastic audio. And in terms of using the different options, like Polyphonic, Rhythmic & so on, I read what each one is for & tried all of them, but the one that really helped the most was X-form. I was able to stretch the sample just a bit more without it sounding like it changed drastically. Bro you have no idea!!!!!!!! THANK GOD!!!!! Sometimes I spend months on 1 beat, (not just the construction, sequencing & arrangement). But even prior, I Dig & dig searching for the perfect sound, that no one has used b4 (which is even harder to find). Finally found an exceptional sample/melody worth working on & this ONE SECOND piece was denying the ENTIRE beat from perfection. And I've learned QUITE a few tricks over the past 30 years making beats (mostly on the mpc2000) to smooth out 1 second problems, more on protools now. Now it sounds fantastic. So again. Thank you. It does however still sound a little stiff. But only when the sample/melody is solo'd. When the drums play over it, it's much more difficult to hear. But I think I can work around that. So again...a thousand thank you's. You really came thru for me. And the fact that you keep it short & simple is tremendously applicable for anyone who is trying to get work done & quickly. So keep doing what you are doing. There are too many videos, where, as they do help, they drag on for entirely way too long, especially for something that can be kept brief. Just a heads up;. It is very difficult to see what you are doing on a cell phone. I went and watch your video on a PC, and had no problem seeing what you are doing. There are some videos of "audio production help" out there, where the video will zoom in a little to help see what the person is talking about & how they are doing it. If you can, I would definitely try to incorporate that. It definitely helps broaden the demographic. Especially in the day & age of cell phones. But even if you don't. What you are doing is still awesome & perfect. Just wanted to throw that out there. Kids today. They don't put their cell phones down for anything, so I know if I was doing what you were doing I would definitely try to reach that audience. Zooming in def accomplishes that. Please don't take it as negative feedback. It's more of me just trying to help a brother back. Keep up the good work regardless. Did I forget to say thank you? 😆 I'll send as many other producers as I can your way that are looking for quick tips. 🫵 R the MAN!!!
