It was well known Pat Patterson had a thing for young boys but you can't blame McMahon but he still should never have took him back after the allegations in 92
I really like the way Phil Donahue conducted his show. He obviously did research about the subject matter, he kept the interviewees under control, and he knows how to clarify the comments of others. I just wish there were still others like him around today.
Bruno Sammartino and Joe DiMaggio are both legends of gigantic proportions in the 20th century. My point was Bruno Sammartino is to wrestling what Joe DiMaggio is to baseball. They are icons much larger to the fabric of America than the sports themselves.
Vince kept Pat Paterson who still works for the comp'y & is Godfather of Stepanie McMahon. Pat not long ago has admitted he is gay. Vince was 47 in '92, to believe he didn't know what went on in wwf when he was 33, is not convincing. Vince started in business in late 60's. Vince's body language & eye expression say's it all.
It occurs to me that on the WWE issued DVD about McMahon that this footage was not mentioned at all. That wouldn't be suspicious except for the fact that pretty much all McMahon's "failures" were mentioned. Not important, but slightly irregular.
He did a show with AWA 7 years or so before this that showed wrestling in a much more positive light. The announcer had his case settled by WWE in the end.
Vince admitted to Congress that steroids and drugs were a problem. Every wrestler is still on steroids and drugs. For Vince to claim ignorance is laughable at best and criminal at worst.
John Arezzi, Vince Russo was the financial backer of John's radio show from 1993-1995. The two also did a newsletter together until they had a split. John also got Vince Russo a job in the WWF as a magazine editor.
@davv1975 That is Miss Elizabeth and next to her left is the victim Tom Cole (who brought up the charges in the first place but later settled with McMahon)
@superstr5 Vince didn't plant her there...she just happened to already have tickets and by pure coincidence they happened to be talking about wrestling (wink-wink-nudge-nudge)...
Is the announcer they are referring to Sean Mooney? Did he have a deal going on with Pat Patterson? To my knowledge SEan Mooney with offered a new contract but declined....why?
@blarson12 yea hogan did steroids so did warrior unfortuantly probably savage, flair, benoit, guerrero, edge, randy orton just off the top of my head there are more and in the attitude era val venis always seemed to be on the juice to me idk if he was he seems to be alright now
inlight of what happened at penn state university with jerry sandusky, I am inclined to believe that this happened...horrible that it did, but I think it did..
Donahue: "If you don't fix this, you're not going to be able to give these tickets away" For all the good points that Donahue makes, I disagree with the above. Look at all of the scandals in sports, it's only gotten worse over the years, people are aware, but the crowds still come. Look at the people in the music industry and how many people buy their albums and tickets, no matter what trouble they cause. Bread and circuses will always find an audience.
@paco0384 It seemed like a trial by fire at the time, but wrestling was in the shitter at the time because of all the allegations. If he didn't stand up for the company or pro wrestling, it would be bad PR, and it would have been disrespectful to the boys in the locker room, whom depend on their CEO to stand up for their profession. If Vince backed down, it makes wrestling look like they are backing down. Looking back, he did it right. He just needed a few years for us to realize it.
