We got some VLAND headlights for our 2015-2021 generation Subaru WRX and came across an issue with our high beams being stuck on. This video is a quick explanation for why this issue happens, and how to fix it.
Explanation:
The high beams on the original halogen lights are the stock day-running lights (DRLs), so when you plug in the new LEDs as-is, the high beams take that DRL signal and turn on whenever the handbrake is released. By disconnecting the stock DRL resistor from the high beams, it blocks this signal and leaves the C-lights as the only DRL. This also explains why the red wire is needed to get the DRL function to the C-lights, because it is the only remaining DRL signal running back from the fuse box.
