It’s been a while since I met up with Tony G for a day’s videoing of trains, so arrangements were made to meet up at Peterborough today (3rd August). The day didn’t get off to a great start. I missed the email from Tony saying that 91127 fresh in its new Intercity livery was heading up the 09:06 Kings Cross to York service, so I was quite taken aback when crossing the walkway to Stevenage station I saw the tail end of the train pulling into the platform. I was however able to get through the ticket gate and on to the platform in time to record it leaving.
My train arrived at 09:44 and got me into Peterborough for 10:36. A quick walk across the walkway to meet Tony at the end of Platform and 801208, the 09:30 Kings Cross to Edinburgh was in platform 4, its drivers door open and the driver engaged in communications with a group of people. I then noticed all signals north bound were at red. After exchanging greetings with Tony and placing the camera down I approached the driver to inquire what the problem was. He informed me that 1E03, the 05:26 Stirling to Kings Cross had brought the OHLE down just outside Grantham, with reports that the pantograph on 801209 had been ripped off the leading car.
We did think that this would put pay to a good day’s videoing; we sat down and considered our options. Fortunately there was a lot of freight due through so that would give us something. It was well worth it, with my first sighting of 66004 “Climate Hero”
A few movements were allowed to pass through, some being used as a test to report back, and all were running on diesel rather than electric. 801208 finally got underway at 13:48, some 209 minutes late.
Anyway, sit back and watch how today’s events unfolded, and for those who love continuity watch to the end of the video, I have a treat for you.

Well Malcolm that was a very busy video you recorded of your visit to Peterborough, it was full of freight action which I love to watch and I still haven't filmed 66004 which you did on its normal working, and getting that doubleheader at the end was a nice bonus for you. Thanks for sharing all the best Mike.

Nice video Malc, good to see you again. I tried to put my effort on YT on Wednesday but I had some technical problems with my pc so I’ll try again in the next couple of days. Cheers
