The old ID or the original AZ REAL ID design? Agreed that mass incompetence like this on behalf of government agencies should not be tolerated. If a company screws up badly enough, they go out of business, face fines, or even jail time. When the government officials screw up, there is zero accountability for the people involved so where is the motivation for those people involved to not screw up? It is good of you to resist getting it, and I support your spirit of rebellion against this ridiculous mandate to get the REAL ID, but never is a pretty strong word and you will get it eventually. The REAL ID requirement comes from laws that were passed when George W. Bush was President and when the news starts announcing that only terrorists resist getting a REAL ID or that you are required to present it for the socialized medicine, then you will comply just so that you don’t fall into the same category as “the evil doers”. The people who are in charge are very good at getting people to comply and you will eventually comply given a long enough timeline. Don’t worry though, you will even feel good about it when you do get the REAL ID. You will think to yourself, “I am doing the right thing because I am a good person”. This is the very essence of marketing and public relations: to frame the thoughts of the masses and to trick them into thinking they are making choices of their own free will.

Because they are government workers and most of them are massively incompetent. Think about it for a second…if these folks were geniuses and good at what they do they would be working for Elon Musk or Mark Zuckerberg, but they are not. The people working on this are people who could not hack it in the private sector. Deep down inside, they know it too, otherwise they would not accept the pitifully low compensation that they get as civil servants. They would demand more, just like the auto unions are doing right now.
