The mv has a lot of inside jokes of the ReveLuv fandom lol: 1) Irene and Yeri are always said to resemble each other so much so that they could be twins. 2) Seulgi's viral ghost walk 3) Joy is really great with animals and also has a cute dog but in the mv, the wolf thing bites her... 4) Seuljoy is now definitely a thing after Bad boy, Cookie Jar and now this song...

This is definitely a song that grows on you. I personally like it a lot after listening to it a couple of times. I'm very pleased with how they used the members voices in this song. Especially with Wendy, Seulgi and Yeri

I agree about the brass but more so when it's a synthetic brass. Also I hated Rookie at first but now its a jam haha

RV is one of those unique girl groups that really do need one or more listens to really get into the group. Experimental is a good way of describing their style of music and mv.

as im korean, when peek a boo or bad boy had been released, many people questioned how it can be a good song because it was too experimental for redvelvet called summer queen. but then people noticed . it is that the Red Velvet's identity. yes. not only popular red side but the other side velvet. i think 'the perfect redvelvet' is Legend of RV history.

The beat and percussion continue through that bridge part, so it seems coherent and consistent to me, not as jarring. Anyway, at first listen I too was put off, but upon multiple listens I like the song. I am really put off by the Halloween theme this close to Christmas. I think you have to listen to the song outside of the music video, you need to listen to it on its own without the music video to really appreciate the song itself. The vocals stand out that way and you really start to hear all the great runs they are doing in the background. So try and listen to it sans video, IMO it's better. The instrumentals are very crisp and fresh in this.

Compared to BAD BOY, RBB it's less melodic. RBB has more hard bass percussions. I won't lie, I had to listen to this title a couple times and I really love it, I do prefer BB, nevertheless pls so a "diving deeper" because their Bsides are epic

Just wanted to add, I agree with you on the repetitiveness of the lyrics in the song that you mentioned toward the end of the video. "Really Bad Boy" is said way too much toward the end, Just My Opinion. Needs more break periods, or something in-between lyrically. IMO.

I think the main thing that irked me about this song was the sheer number of adlibs in the chorus. It felt like a kind of messy collection of adlibs and not much of an actual chorus melody. I’ve listened to the song since and it’s grown on me a lot, and I’ll always support RV because I love them so much, but yeah, that was my main problem with it 👌🏻

Thriller was also released on November 30th *cough cough* post Halloween horror concepts just work. Red Velvet killed it this comeback. This song and all of the b-sides are certified bops. These are facts.

What i like about RBB is even though its title is just basically adding a word to their previous song, it totally sounds different so you can never say this is just another Bad Boy or just Bad Boy 2.0

i never thought i'd say this about a red velvet song because i adore their vocals but... i feel like this song suffers from having too many ad-libs and background vocals

Thank you. When you listened to it a second time, I remembered why I always look forward to your reviews. This song is too much of a shock to judge on one listen; I particularly love how they flirted with jazz in this release because I haven't heard much of it in K-Pop. I was completely overwhelmed on the first listen, but on the second listen onwards my brain started breaking down each individual element and I haven't been able to stop listening to it since. Some notes: - The Irene & Yeri twin scene is definitely a reference to The Shining, given the cinematography through the corridor which is unique to that. - Try to watch one of their live performances on the music shows. The performances are really impressive. They also have a live performance of one of their B-Sides, Butterflies (which is a more conventional pop song) - I believe the Halloween theme was a slip-up on SM's part (something to do with scheduling their different groups' comebacks). Oh well, if they say it's Halloween go for it lol

Honestly this is the type of song that grows on you. I didn’t like it that much at first, until after I actually found myself enjoying the song without even noticing.

Yeay, finally! PD, your channel is one of my favorites! When RBB came out I'm really curious for your reaction and also your reasons about the MV. What I respect about your reaction video is that you're explaining it with various angles and approach. I'm working in entertainment industry also and I'm really enjoying your video. Yup, RBB is one of RV's experimental-ish MV, but it came out great for me. My favorite would be the bridge part, tho. LOL I have soft spot for that kind of music and shifting style. The choreo is also good, you better watch the live performance! What I'm happy about this MV is that Wendy's great voice is being explored to the max! Yeah, she didn't come out to play with this comeback. And the "SPEED TALKING" thing is so interesting, I tried to listen it again and I understand what you mean about that. Somehow RBB is kinda "EXPERIMENTAL RAP PERFORMANCE" for me. Waiting for more of your reaction videos!

Tbh the main reasons i do not like the song is because of the late halloween concept, screams and the overuse of adlibs. Im s huge rookie enthusiast i loved it since the first listen, but with RBB....it feels like one of their weakest title tracks in my opinion. Also i have sensitive hearing and the screams make me want to rip out my earphones, i wish they took them out of the actual song. I think Sassy Me wouldve been better as a title track. I love the rest of the album though.

Everyone's reaction to Irene's scream is funny. Its always "who the hell did that note" and the answer is most likely the last person they would think of which is Irene. Everyone assumed it was Wendy at first. Also, at first listen I didn't like it either. I wasn't as hyped and the arrangement felt off. But after the second listen I enjoyed it a lot. The different sections even when it felt repetitive because of the lyrics actually felt different from each other and had a different vibe each time. But at the same time it felt coherent because the beat and music doesn't change too much. The power of the song was all on their vocals. They were aiming for it to showcase their vocals. To me it works but to some its probably too much.

SM is all about setting trends through their artist but I've seen them do it *especially* through SNSD, Red Velvet, and NCT. I really enjoy that all their comebacks have different concepts and completely different or new sounds that you think they would never try before or wouldn't really sound good with. But those three groups have always surprised me by taking a song no matter the concept and making it completely their own so that it's still completely different and new but also familiar? I don't know if that makes sense lol but that's how it feels

I can’t logistically explain why but any song of there’s that starts with an “R”, I just dislike at first but I love the video. With Rookie, Russian Roulette, Red Flavor, and now RBB it’s been the same way, but by watching the video so much, I grow to love the song as well

a lot of rv songs are growers, but bad boy wasn't which is why it did so well. but even so, all rv songs are actual masterpieces. i love that a lot of people appreciate it.

Not a huge fan of the lyrics - too much repetition of RBB and i think the lyrics could have been written better, although Wendy's run during the bridge was awesome. Absolutely love RV's vocals here but it doesn't tie in with the music for me. BUT I LOVE the instrumentals, especially the sax/brass in the background. I really hope they release the instrumental version!

i really didn't like it at first but after listening to it w/o the MV and watching the live stages, i do actually like it. i think the MV doesn't really match the song so seeing it performed w/ the choreo makes up for it. however, in comparison to the rest of the mini, this is my least fav track. like it's no surprise that i love their b-sides but literally every single b-side in this mini blow this title out of the water. it's more of their red side which i loooove

The late halloween concept is was irked me the most, it doesn't seem like a wise choice to me, like you said i doubt anyone's feeling it. As for the song, i really liked it. It's repetitive yes but in this case that's probably its forte along with the vocals, and the bridge it's my favorite part, yeri saying you're a bad boy and you're bad for me over and over does the trick, it sticks.

I actually thought i wouldn't like it as much as i do now. I remember with rookie it definitely took me awhile to like it cause it was so different and red flavour, for some stupid reason i wasn't feeling it at first, but later on became one of my top fave RV tracks but with RBB i instantly loved it even though it's not normally my style of music.

Truthfully, i dont like this.. I dont understand the melody, its like bad boy and power up combined. And a lot of harmonies And adlibs than actual lyrics and when performed live, no one is singing most of the adlibs. I truly appreciate your honest feedback PDnim, a lot of other reactors was kissing the a$$ of kpop fans when their face clearly didnt like it. Bad boy, dumb dumb and rookie are still my fave red velvet songs.

I've listened to this on multiple times and I still have to say that I'm not a fan. I really don't like the "heyeyeyeyeyeyey" all the time. I love red velvet and I loved bad boy but I didn't like this and that's ok because I still support and Stan them.

The thing about Red Velvet is that they don't give you basic. They don't give you a song you can forget. Even if it is because you adore it or absolutely hate it, it stays with you and eventually, as you understand the way they take on their music is different from everyone in kpop, you end up liking it. Why? Because Red Velvet doesn't make bad songs, only different ones, and you get to realize that with time. Something about the perfect formula and chemistry of putting these five women together in a group makes every song their very own. I can't imagine any other artist performing Really Bad Boy. And at the end of the day, the fact that they end up making me feel this way with every single song of theirs is what really matters. Because in years to come and when people do try to cover their songs, everyone will realize a huge part of the songs being so good was that Red Velvet sang them. THAT is legacy.

I have listened to this track over and over the last couple of days and I agree that it is not very interesting lyrically. I'm confused by songs who don't use the verse-chorus-verse format. However, I think that the bridge is amazing, with very good vocals by Joy and Seulgi.

Literally sums up almost everybody’s experience with Rookie. You either stay hating it or listen to enough that it becomes one of your favorite RV songs. Whenever Red Velvet drops a song especially their red side and people say they don’t like it I always ask “how many times did you listen to it”

I liked Rookie and RBB right away and all the other songs were ones i had to listen to multiple times before i liked it. I now realize how unique my music taste is lol

The adlibs just irritate me. Apart from them the song is quite okay. After several listens I'm still not really into it. I prefer the B-sides imo.

This is probably the most Red Velvet song I've ever heard, the bridge was especially my favorite part, it was so different and unique, unlike anything I've ever heard. Like when I first heard it, I said to myself "what even is this?", I don't know how to describe it, but it's just so THEM!! I love this entire song and have been playing it since it released. For me, it's probably my favorite Red Velvet song to this day.

Make sure you listen to their album! We all know Red Velvet’s album tracks are almost always better than their title tracks. 😂

I totally agree about red velvet creating a melody with just their voices ..thats why i find it genius how they do the repetitive lyrics because the melody that comes out of it is ameeezing! RBB is literally That song that has everyone pressed over cause its way ahead of its time. We love a group that gives us something new everytime and has people completely shocked but still has that trademark rv weirdness..ugh The Talent! Also they already are serving us so much lyrically and that traditional song arrangements in their b sides like who cares if RBB isn't your cup of tea just listen to butterfly then.

It always surprised me how people were so divided about RBB. I *hated* Rookie and Zimzalabim on first listen, but RBB was an instant bop for me. 😅 I love the B-horror theme, and this was Wendy's best visual era IMO. 🥰

Im not a huge RV stan tbh I like their title tracks and a few bsides but sometimes I feel like their red songs dont quite fit them (looking at you rap part in power up). They're supppppper vocally driven which is why I instantly loved RBB. Very unique to feature their vocal versatility and the whistles just blew me away like okay go off. The chprus is my favorite part honestly like its so complex each time and nver the same (another thing they tend to pull off well)> I vew their gorup style as more r&b tbh while bops like power up and bad boy can occasionally surface

I loved really bad boy from the jump but i definitely get why people would not like it. It was really repetitive but I think that its still good. For me, I love brass horns in pop songs as long as its not overwhelming. I love Halloween so much I was actually really happy that it was Halloween themed, even if it really didn't make sense. I love all of these outfits though and how they all had their horror trope part. Can we talk about Joy for a second tho??? Yeri is my bias but phew Joy was wrecking my shit. I loved everything about her in this video, especially all of her outfits. Specifically, I'm super whipped for her sparkly outfit with the gloves. Red Velvet really brings the gay outta me tbh like wow. I was really sad when I saw that Joy didn't wear those sparkly pants on stage; they switched them out for some velvet ones. smh hopefully in a future stage they'll give her pants back.

After listening to RBB I can confidently say Power Up was a weak comeback song. But I like listening to it when I do my chores lol Rookie was better than Power Up and the awesome choreography helped a lot. No one expected Power Up to be a hit but it earned a PAK in Korea and surpassed Rookie's music show wins. That's saying something about the Korean public's taste in music in general more than anything else tbh So now I don't think that because a song is a hit, then it's musically superior than any other releases. Bad Boy was lit but idk why it wasn't well loved in Korea that time?

While I love Rookie, even after listening to this song over and over I still dislike this song. It seems so disjointed and while vocally impressive, the high notes tend to grate on my ears and I don't really like the lyrics or short amount of singing in this. I can see where people would consider them similar though. It was interesting seeing your opinion though and it did enhance my view of the song. Has a very cute vibe to it, particularly the Wendy scream :D!! Unlike Bad Boy, this took a VERY LONG TIME to grow on me (still hasn't as of now). The intro, while seemingly catchy on first listen (due to great sound production) wasn't distinct like the melodic arp from Bad Boy. After a few seconds, starts to become monotonous becomes overwhelming/underwhelming at the same time due to all the repetitive brass + special fx/sound fx. Much of the song's main melody centered on a one note bass (D) which made a lot of areas sound boring where as Bad Boy had a 4-6 bar progression with breaks that featured much more melodic vocals. It felt like more time was spent emphasizing MV vocal segments and ad-libs over a specific vocal structure for each singer. Had a bit of difficulty following the over all song structure which seemed a bit random at times and all over the place. My guess for the strange song structure might be because the songs highlighted synth brass hook is a sample and not something composed so they couldn't re-arrange or change pitch without affecting the sound quality of the original sample and decided to make that the primary hook/lead for the entire song while building all verse/chorus segments around it. Overall, the MV quality was excellent in terms of visual captivation. The song however, was too repetitious and lacking in melody when compared to previous releases, most notably Bad Boy. This song is great for live concert performances because of all the visuals but the song itself is not something with a lot of replay value...

If there's anything I've learned from being a Reveluv is that a somewhat large portion of their music is like...SUPER experimental...This song is such a friggin' bop and I'm super happy with it. It's such a connection with Peek-A-Boo, too.

The video threw me out of the song the first time and then I watched it again and couldn't handle the screams. I love Bad Boy and when I saw the title I really was hoping for another smooth r&b song. I actually love brassy sounding songs but couldn't get through the loudness of both the screams and video more than twice. Lol

What??? Am I the only one who _lived_ for this song after first listen?! Their harmonies are some of the best work they’ve done vocally PERIOD, especially when it comes to title tracks. They really went brave here to depend so much on their vocals and not much at all on the beat... and the sax is just outstanding it gives off a really funky vibe ( but in a much more tasteful way than Rookie ). I honestly cannot fathom the disappointment, all of you had to expect a Bad Boy 2.0 or something, meanwhile I didn’t cause I’ve been following them for a long time and know they won’t take the same road twice. One of their better title tracks for me tbf. Oh well it’ll be sad if this song flops, it was a really good switch up for this group I thought.

Honestly Red Velvet is my favorite kpop band (and one of my favorite musical acts) because they are always experimental and interesting. Like who would have guessed a song that is such an obvious follow up to their biggest hit to be like this? And yeah they all have killer voices.
