Seriously, though. I got whiplash listening to the rest of Preacher's Daughter because it sounds nothing like American Teenager. I've yet to find a song that gives me the same high as this song, and it's so frustrating haha
@@panchikofan123cant blame him since taylor and lana are one of the most main stream pop girlies nowadays so I get it when people who are new to ethel and any alt girlies are reminded of lana and taylor
You'd go absolutely crazy over her album Preacher's Daughter. I'll always remember my first listen and it's probably the best concept/storyline album I've ever heard. She deserves all the recognition and success and I can't wait for more people to find her music
would actually kill to see you react to this album, she’s incredible, she made the whole thing herself in her bedroom and it’s one of the best concept albums i’ve ever heard
Oh my god! I was literally just thinking earlier today how much you would love Ethel Cain. Her album Preacher’s Daughter is a very stylized concept album that’s to my understanding entirely self-produced. Her real name is Hayden Anhedönia, Ethel Cain is both her stage name and the fictional character whose story is told through the album.
OMG hell yeah. You should absolutely listen to her whole album, it is a masterpiece. I don't even care if you do a reaction video (even though I would love it of course). She's written AND produced basically the whole thing.
Dude honestly you should do a reaction of the album from start to finish. Preachers Daughter has been on REPEAT since I discovered it a few months ago.
american teenager was the first ethel cain song I ever heard from preachers daughter and I’ve been hooked ever since.. also lovee her 2021 album Inbred
if you’re planning on reacting to the full album there’s a full story going through it and every single song is amazing, the story itself is really well done and well portrayed enough you can follow along as long as you catch the important lyrics but she does such a great job of making sure the story building parts stand out, it’s so great
"Somebody listens to lana", well that somebody is not Hayden lol. How can anybody listen to her and not recognize Florence's influence right away. Hell, it's even in the way she says "choir", like immediately 😂 Hayden is Florence's child through and through, but she's still herself, never derivative, and that seems to be enough to put people off track.
YES! Please react to more Ethel Cain, she has an amazing album called "Preacher's Daughter" which is also where this song is from, i would love for you to react to it. It's like a horror album, really cool concept! Love the reaction
WOW YOUR EAR! I cannot BELIEVE I never even _heard_ that Journey guitar part toward the end before you pointed it out! WHY AM I NOT ADVANCED ENOUGH TO PICK THOSE THINGS OUT 😭
La primera vez que escuche esta canción quede ipnotizado, tiene algo espectacular qué te atrae demasiado, no se como explicarlo, pero mueve cada fibra de mi ser!
LISTEN TO PREACHERS DAUGHTER!!! it genuinely is one of the best bodies of work to come out in the past decade in the alternative space. and amazing lyricism and producing aside. the absolute masterclass in storytelling alone, with the themes, tone, etc. is enough to make a full deep dive video for!! something to definitely consider!! but warning, it will absolutely take a TURN by the 7th track!! (not in a bad way ofc lol.
React to the entire album (Preacher’s Daughter). If not the best, it is one of those great records released in 2022. PS. Yes, Ethel used that riff from Don’t Stop Believing. The lyrics of this actually had some references to the song too
You should give the whole album a try - paying special attention to the lyrics since it's meant to tell a story... Honestly, Preacher's Daughter is one of the best albums I've ever heard. And the fact that she produced almost everything herself says a lot about the kind of artist Hayden (Ethel Cain is her stage name) is.
The Imogen Heap influence is front and center, it's such a lush anthem. Wanted an upbeat _Beach House_ with _Emma Ruth Rundle_ aesthetic for ages. It pulls back to let you enjoy the verses, then tidal waves back in with the chorus. Last _Pale Waves_ release did it on the poppier side, Ethel Cain here on the moodier, love it.
I've been addicted to Thoroughfare since the absolute very first time I heard it!!! Still my favorite. But, american teenager is starting to close the gap! Both great.
Not me smiling so hard to my screen cos you’re enjoying this masterpiece as much as I did. Plus! Do you always look this good when you wake up in the morning ! NOT FAIR.
