Borahae! I am a singer/songwriter/producer that rediscovered my passion for music during the pandemic after hearing BTS. A wild musical journey ensued that reunited 2 childhood friends (me & Lucas). 🦒🪩 OPM as an industry has created a lot of careers for people from poor backgrounds, like Roland Abante. However, it also contains a lot of people from middle class or even well-off backgrounds or relatives in the industry. It's not always clear how to succeed if you are a talented person from a poor background without connections. It doesn't help that OPM is very Manila centric. 🐪🐫🕺🕺

Majority of Filipino singers doesn't have training in singing until they get in the industry. And if they do have one, usually it's done by a family member (parent) just like in Regine's case. Filipinos just do random opening of their mouth and it they like what they hear then they stick to how they did that. That's how they learn musical techniques. Crazy for others to hear but this is just how Filipino singers "master" their singing techniques 🙂
