I thank God for you! I grew up in a home with a mother who never knew how to care for our hair and I suffered from hair breakage almost all my life. My hair has grown just past my shoulders for the first time in my entire 28 years of living thanks to you.

Yay!! Part 2. Shampoo is "cool" again!!! Unless of course you use only natural, one ingredient, water soluble hair products. In which case your reading this post in your 5x5 living room in your eco solar powered home, that you have arrived in after a thrilling cycle to home commute. Therefore you.... will.. still have to use shampoo because even natural products will create a buildup over time!!! Shampoo for Everyone!!! I LOVE this video!! I am so happy!! Shampoo is my new FAVORITE Thing. And that Means YOU get a SHAMPOO Bottle!! And YOU get a SHAMPOO Bottle!!! And YOU get a SHAMPOO Bottle!! EVERYBODY Gets a SHAMPOOOOO Bottlllle!!!!!!

Hahaha Im dying ..... Yes, cleansing your hair properly is just as important as detangling and moisture/protein balance. But, sadly its a bit taboo in the hair community. So, please share this 2 part series on your social media and blogs b/c I think its important to spread the word so, others don't mistakenly set themselves back.

You are by far the best at divulging information about hair care. I learned about porosity from you, It has taken me a long way. I also learned about the magnitude of damage a relaxer does to the hair from you. I learned about the PH balance of healthy hair from you. Currently I am transitioning to natural and I have discovered the benefits of apple cider vinegar which relieves soreness and itchiness once I reach the 4 month mark in transitioning from relaxed to natural. I usually abandon my natural hair journey once I reach the 4 month marker but now I know what to do to stay on the natural track. Thank you for this information. You are soooooo awesome.

Thank you for mentioning that using clarifying shampoos once in a while is ok...Gotta get the word out there again that sometimes clarifying shampoos are ok. Once I mentioned to another naturally textured woman that I sometimes use a sulfate shampoo to clarify and she 'bout just bit me head off telling me how I was wrong in using it. Telling me all my hair would "dry up and break off"...It took all the strength I had not to go upside her head...anyway...thanks for another informative video...keep them coming Cheers!!!

lol ... I'm trying to spread the word on the importance of clarifying (striping) your hair once in a while. For example, I don't really use complicated insoluble ingredients on my hair so, I clarify my hair once a months sometime once every two months. Please share this 2 part series on your social media and blogs b/c I think its important to spread the word so, others don't mistakenly set themselves back.

So glad you're back. My hair is acting different it looks dull, and way more frizzy then usual. I wash or co-wash once a week. So I don't know if it is build up or what. My hair is color treated my a professional and that has been every since I became natural two years ago. I been experiencing this problem for the pass two months. The other day I sprayed oil on it and it just sat on top all day. So sorry for such a long post lol
@rachel6ix
@rachel6ix 10 лет назад
hair dye can affect your hair's porosity and raise your cuticles. raised cuticles = dull hair. i'm having the sameeee problem since my hair is color treated as well. shampoo, rinse conditioner with coool water, and add something acidic to your hair afterwards and it should lay the cuticle and look better. some ppl do acv rinses, i am *not* about that life (lol), but some cold aloe vera juice added directly or mixed into your leave in should help.
@GreenBeauty
@GreenBeauty 10 лет назад
What you are explaining sound like two problems; raised cuticles (use to color treatment) and build-up. I suggest to first try, spacing out your co-washing sessions to once every two weeks (less if possible). Also, add a few drops of tea tree oil into your shampoo when you wash your hair and let the shampoo sit on your hair while you shower (1 to 2 mins). Doing a REAL Protein Treatment after will work excellent in safely smoothing your lifter cuticles without causing build up. Afterwards, I agree with Rachel, add something acidic to your hair. From your pic its seems like a thicker leave in conditioner will weigh your hair down so, try using a spritz with an acid pH.

I'm trying to figure out if my hair is going through the exogen stage, experiencing increased hair breakage due to a mild heat damage, or if I need a good protein treatment. Brief account of the heat damage. Got a trim in March ( this year). I informed the stylist that I had applied avocado butter and grapeseed oil to my hair. She reassured me they were HEAT PROTECTANTs. She began flat ironing. No blowing drying or anything. I had just washed my hair and followed the loc method. I could hear SIZZLING SOUNDS ( similar to frying eggs). I stopped her more than 3 times. I was told my hair wasn't being fired and that I was hearing the products. My hair was put in a protective style immediately thereatfter. Don't ask me why she just didn't blow dry my hair and trim. Guess she wanted to see my length or something. But anyway, after a month in a half cornrows (natural hair) and half sengelese twist ( extensions) style. I noticed my hair was breaking off more than usual. My hair would break off just from a simple rub and more some when finger detangling /comb detangling. I noticed slight thinning. I have extremely extremely thick hair. I'm high density. You can't see my scalp when fully dried. I also had very very small section of my hair that would hang lower than the rest when wet or dry. . My hair normally shrinks 50 percents or more. That has also seemed to change slightly. I have no straight ends. It's just the constant breakage and pieces of hanging curls. I have/had tighter curls. I got a another trim this month (MAY) from another stylist. BEST IN HOUSTON... btw, I'm considering purchasing the real protein treatment. Although I'm not sure if my hair needs a protein treatment. It's just breakage! Breakage!! Breakage!!!. ANY SUGGESTIONS FROM SOMEONE MORE KNOWLEDGEABLE WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED! !!!! THANKS

Thanks for the information! I try to make sure I use water soluble products because I don't want to have to use shampoos with SLS. I used baking soda on my hair and I could feel the difference but someone posted microscopic pic results of baking soda being ineffective. Thing is, she said it didn't remove oil layers & her microscope could not see product build up so I'm not sure if her results are saying anything important. Nevertheless, thanks for the info!

Try applying your shampoo to dry hair before getting in the shower. Focus on your scalp and massage it in then rinse. I used to have the same problem but for some reason it breaks up the grime better when applied to dry hair/scalp.

Hi, tganks for the video. To be honest, I was expectong information about which surfactants remove what kind of builup? When you use cocamidopryl betaine or other nonionic surfactants you will clean different things than with sodium laureth sulfate or sodium cocoyl istheonate or c14-16 olefin sulfonate. Does they remove polyquaterniums for example? Or excess oil or both? And non soluble silicones? In other words, when do you choose which cleanser? Maybe you have already a video on that? I liked the video's about clay for cleaning.

washing my hair once a month comment made me cringe a bit because i put gel and leave in conditioner heavily in hair. I put the leave in heavily because i think i might have low porosity hair so it gets a bit dry after abut 3 days and the gel for keeping my curls uniform. Would you suggest maybe using a clarifying shampoo every two weeks instead or is the once a month still your best suggestion for my scenario..?

What do u think of the water only wash method? U only use your natural sebum to moisturize your hair, by washing your hair every day until u have full sebum coverage. No products, less buildup, and u only use water, but u can use oil for the tips of your hair.
