Brownells Gun Tech™ Caleb Savant continues his survey of the B5 Systems stocks for the AR-15 platform. Today, the Collapsible Precision Stock is in the spotlight. You can easily adjust both the CPS's cheek rest height and length-of-pull simply by turning the adjustment wheels. The wheels turn with distinct, tactile clicks, and once you get the cheek rest and recoil pad where you want them, they are reassuringly solid, with no play or wobble.
The Collapsible Precision Stock fits mil-spec (1.14" O.D.) or A5-type AR-15 carbine receiver extensions (buffer tubes). Unlike a lot of precision stocks for the AR-15, you can extend and retract the CPS just like a standard M4 carbine stock. Move the little slider on the release lever to make the stock captive to the buffer tube, so you can't accidentally pull it off when extending it. Don't worry, the full extend / retract range is preserved.
More features of the CPS: QD sling swivel sockets on both sides, plus bars for simple thread-on sling mounting. M-LOK® slots on the underside are ready for a compatible M-LOK® monopod. B5 Systems offers the Collapsible Precision Stock with three different-sized cheek rests. The MEDIUM is for standard .223 / 5.56 AR-15s. Even with the stock fully collapsed, you'll have enough clearance to operate the charging handle. The SHORT model provides more clearance for the longer charging handle of an AR-308. The LONG cheek rest is for AR-15s fitted with the Law Tactical Folding Stock Adapter AND/OR the longer A5 buffer tube. It gives you enough cheek rest real estate to position your head where it needs to be on the longer stock.
