You know them for their AR-15 handguards and many other innovative upgrade parts. Today Brownells Gun Tech™ Caleb Savant is joined by special guest Troy Storch of Midwest Industries to give us a tour of MI's growing line of tools. MI's philosophy is to develop new tools that solve problems existing tools don't address AND that perform multiple tasks so you need FEWER tools in your toolbox. The AR-15 Lower Receiver Block (separate AR-308 model available) can be bolted to your bench or used as a vise block. It holds the gun securely so you can assemble it, perform maintenance, and clean it. The LRB also helps you install the gas tube roll pin in your gas block and even has as a built-in bin to keep those pins from rolling away.

As an Industrial Electrical Maintenance Technician in American manufacturing, I'll be sure to start purchasing things from Midwest. American Made is very important for me. Even though here in 2022, I catch a lot of flak for that.

I’ve got the receiver block. It’s well made. I’m buying the wrench next. MI makes good products.

If I was ever held at gun point and asked “which gun law are you okay with? And why?” I would most definitely say 922R because it forces the hand of American firearm manufacturers to manufacture their parts in America.

I wouldn’t recommend MI, substandard quality, premium price

I love Midwest industries. Everything I've bought from them has been great. Also, they are the only company that offers an aftermarket STEEL extended charging handle for the Ruger PC Carbine, all the other brands are aluminum or polymer.

I’d never used any of their parts or tools until about a year ago when I was working with a suppressor and discovered that, despite having 2 AR wrenches, I had nothing that would fit into that tight spot, ordered their wrench and am sold. Great tools!

I agree. Solid products. Handguards have qd points that stick out but are nice cuz u can actually use them. Sometimes/most receivers you cant even use most of the provided machined qd slots

Got stuff like that for Mr. Kalashnikov's baby? So yes is the answer. Should've watched the entire video before commenting. Maybe, I'll learn that one day.

You can’t go wrong with Midwest Industries products. Everything I’ve bought from them is absolute top quality stuff. And if you have questions their customer service is outstanding.

These are very very well thought out tools. That wrench is the absolute best. Their MI URR makes a needed improvement over the Geissele one. Their aren’t many opportunities to out think Geissele on anything but they did it here

i have the MW lower block blue too..i have the magpul and Avid ones, but i go to the "blue tool "more often.. the gas block pocket it has is a great help! They truly have great items, tools, and firearms parts. ! Glad to see Brownells supporting these guys! I would love to see them get into the "reloading" aspects of firearms , I bet they could make some great items!

Love midwest industries, wish they would come out with something like the giessele reaction block that works as well at a better cost like they did with the giessele reaction rod and their upper receiver rod. Magwell vice blocks work in a pinch, and can be handy for other uses, but that's a lot of force being transferred into your lower when you hit proper torque specs on the castle nut/ receiver extension. Giessele's is the only really good solution that I know of but man that price....

Yes their tools can be pricey. The quality of their tools is outstanding. I have gone the “cheaper” route before. In the end I’d buy the MI tool because the others were crap. You get what you pay for, you’ll never be disappointed in MI tools.

@@SayanGiant no it's not, the mount in this video interfaces with the extended ak rail (although even this specific one isn't on their site yet), but it also interfaces and goes around the rear sight. So it's clearly a product that's not available, or on their site yet

Caleb, you are slacking again on the job. You did not make sure that Troy had a cup of the "FAKE" cold coffee. 😁 That way you had a proper ending to the video with the sip of the cold "FAKE" coffee...🤣 Yes it is (sarcasm) yet I want to see you dump a cup of coffee on the table once again. I am double dog dar'n ya...😂😂😂

Now if Midwest Industries will take that AK LRB and make a LRB that has the Saiga-12 on one end and the VEPR-12 on the other, they would have a nice addition to their line up. They could even make one that has HK-91/G3 on one end and HK-93/33 on the other and one that has the HK MP5 on one end and the Colt SMG on the other. Or ...
