I really like how this channel is evolving. I followed this channel since the early days, and in between I felt there were moments where I can no longer connect with the content. I must say the recent videos on finances, life admin, productivity etc speak to me and it felt that I'm growing together with the channel. Hope this continues and more of such videos please!

Isn't she? My husband is the same with my mother-in-law. My elder sister-in-law wants nothing to do with her, so the responsibility falls on us. After watching Ingrid do this I have new respect for my husband and Ingrid both.

Ingrid! I've followed you for years, including during some of the worst parts of my life. Way back when I felt incredibly lonely and disconnected, and I was watching your beauty reviews as Miss Glamorazzi daily. I know you got into RU-vid because you also felt lonely, which has helped me feel less alone in my experience. Seeing your recent videos and the change in the way you approach your life has been so helpful for me. I literally never comment on youtube, because being public gives me anxiety. I don't think I've commented on anything in over 5 years. But I wanted to make an exception because you should know that your channel is important and really helps people. I don't know you, but I love you dearly as a fan.

Idk why, but this is such a satisfying type of content to me. I think it's just comforting to see other people do the same daily tasks I have to do but don't always love. It inspires me to get chores and things done too!

As a new mom currently on maternity leave, invisible tasks are my whole life, every day. I've noticed that I am often living in the futur, to "help" my futur self (for example, when my baby wakes up from her afternoon nap, I set out her whole kit for her bedtime :pjs, diaper, creams, sleepsack). I've realized that it helps me feel less stressed because often circumstances and moods can change quickly and make a simple task feel chaotic, but it's also somewhat strange to often be thinking and planning for something in the futur. Sometimes it makes me feel like my life is passing me by. My old mindful self has a hard time reconciling this new reality. It's also tricky in a partnership when one partner wants to "be in the moment" and wing it while the other is thinking of all the things that need to be done. I end up feeling controlling, when i'm just trying to be efficient.

I don't even know what to say about this video, I loved it so much. The sponsorship fit so perfectly. You were so funny but personable and honest. I especially liked when you showed us what you do for your mom. Managing tasks and helping others sometimes takes more effort than actually completing tasks. I have always related to your spirit and aspirations, but lately I really relate to YOU. I'm currently having one of those Sundays where I try to take care of all the mundane things (including myself) and it's nice to know you have those days too. I've hit an age where the "exciting" things in life are slowing down and the more "difficult" things are ramping up, and I appreciate your calm thoughts along the way. You are one of the last RU-vidrs I watch.

Ingrid, I have been watching your channel for years-this might be one of my favorite videos! As someone who lives alone in NYC, I find it exhausting to get all of the day-to-day stuff done (while balancing work, grad school and social activities). I am thoroughly enjoying the "adulting" videos. Not just because, it's reasonable and relatable, but they seem so honest. I also help support my mom financially - it's not easy budgeting for 2 lifestyles. Even if you have the money, sitting down to actually crunch the numbers can be stressful.

I love how this was a genuinely real day in the life. A lot of youtubers who do days in the life gloss over bits that they assume people don't want to see but then it ends up turning into an unrealistic day in the life, you know? This video was great and shows just how you're like every there human :)
@sherryandharry
@sherryandharry 4 года назад
The idea of the mental load of household/life admin is something I've thought about a lot - it's the reason why, when you're in a relationship, when one person says things like 'but I'll do the laundry if you ask me, you just have to ask me' it usually ends in hard feelings is because often the mental load of remembering and planning takes up more energy than the execution, especially when one person is expected to remember every chore/admin. So I love the idea of a system that addresses the mental load and splits it! As someone who also lives on her own, I like to do big brain dumps a couple times a week, where I write down and organise all the things I have to do or are on my mind, either that need to be done right away, that week or are just weighing on my mind as an 'at some point in the future' task, usually I write list headers like 'work' 'kitchen' 'finances' etc... to help prompt my memory - this serves two purposes, the first is that it allows you to allocate tasks to a day/time and actually get them done, but also means you can clear your mind - you don't feel the pressure to remember everything because you know you have it written down - the only thing you have to remember is to check your brain dump list, and for this you can set a reminder on one of your devices!

That is just wonderful that you are able to take care of your Mother financially and provide her general support as well. My Mother lives with us. I am also an only child and had my Father pass away many years ago. Having her live with us has been the best solution. She has a place to live and we have a live-in cook!

On another note, I've found aiming to do one extra chore a night has really helped me keep on top of everything (I work 9 - 5, bae works 8 - 8 shifts in a variety of combos) so usually bae makes dinner if home, i clean up afterwards and we take it in turns making lunch for tomorrow; (we both hate doing it) so that's my staple routine. Usually I'm like ARGH DO EVERYTHING but now a measured approach is I have to do my staples and then one extra chore, tonight it's folding laundry and now i have my bedroom back yay! I do a deep clean on Saturday mornings (ie everything I didn't get round to) but it's honestly so much faster if I aim to do a load of laundry midweek, clean the bathroom and keep on top of the clutter corners it stops me feeling so overwhelmed on the weekends. (That's why I mindlessly scroll)

This was amazing please do another one! It made me think a lot. Right now it’s holiday season with Thanksgiving so lots of menu planning, ordering groceries going to specialty shops to get it all together. But that’s in between making gift lists for Christmas, helping my parents with their travel plans, going to the dentist, calling the bank to dispute a charge, all these things add up mentally and do take space. Of course on top of normal work too. Thanks for making us aware that book sounds really interesting

What a refreshing video! Loved it!! I liked the concept of having Task cards, I always use what I call my Life To Do List, and it's as long as my arm and often makes me feel overwhelmed. I live alone and all tasks fall on me as well. Thank goodness I recently finished a massive round of decluttering and simplifying my stuff - that was adding another layer of stress for months if not years, because I kept procrastinating and feeling guilty.. Thanks for sharing and hope you have a lovely day 😊

I really loved this! I love all of your videos, but the on-the-go vlogs are more interesting to me than the sit down and talk to the camera videos. These are so nice to play in the background while I get stuff done! Also would love a video talking about how you support your mom financially. I know my mom would hate a situation like that because she's always wanted to be the one taking care of me, not the other way round. How do you guys navigate that?

I love this video so much!! I love that term you used: “invisible tasks.” All of us have these things and they actually take a lot more work and time out of our days than we think! We need to give ourselves more credit and compassion for the all the struggles & things we overcome on a daily basis - from going into work, to putting in a load of laundry... it’s all important and we need to be more proud of ourselves ❤️

This is just what I needed in the background whilst doing some tidying! Invisible thing I do is just all the little things around our flat share, I spent a lot of time wiping counters, putting away clean dishes etc. I should get better at asking the others I live with to do those things as well.

10/10 would watch more of these types of videos!! Watched this while I was updating my budget for next year. Also, as a young adult, moving into my first couple apartments, I'm still learning not to feel guilty for spending on maintenance things, e.g. a new phone when my 5 year old phone is regularly crashing. I think this is because, before, spending money was always on things I wanted but didn't need, which led to this feeling of guilt when spending money. Whereas now, I'm learning that spending money shouldn't all feel the same way and I shouldn't think about it the same way.

Ingrid your videos always inspire me to get more out of my life lol 🙈make me get out of my blob life and take back on some responsibilities... in the best way possible. I always get so caught up with assignments that my day is just taken up by ‘doing assignments’ until it’s done, and often I’ll just half ass my meals and everything else, making me feel even worst, less motivated and unproductive. Seeing your video just reminded me that self care is also a responsibility I have to myself. Hopefully making small steps to a better self. ♥️

Since getting married 4 years ago I've been incharge of running the rented houses where me and my husband live. My husband visits his mother almost every week (or alternate week) for few days. All the planning of running the house is done by me. When I was working (even in weekends) I used to delegate duties to my husband. Now I do it myself. I still sometimes take my husbands help. It can lead to a burnout because you never get a break. It is important to take breaks. Be it a day in the week when you don't do any chores. Or a longer vacation. The list of tasks include - dusting, vacuuming, laundry, cooking, deep cleaning, regular cleaning (putting things back), paying bills, grocery shopping lists, etc. One thing that has helped us is a Monthly planner in the kitchen. We write tasks, to do lists, grocery lists, events etc on it. And each of us get to know what is on the other persons list. And if anything we can do to help them

I love this!! I usually make pancakes for my daughter every morning, so the dishes throughout the day, try to vacuum the house once a week and do laundry, take the recycling to the recycling place once a week and go to the chiropractor!

I loved this. I can really relate to this. I live on my own and some days i just wanna curl up in a ball and hide from my list of tasks or have someone to share teh load with. But with that being said i feel so proud and accomplished when i finish even the smallests of tasks. More of these videos please!

I think learning more about the CPE really helped put that feeling into perspective for me, because a list of tasks really represents all of the conceiving, planning, and executing subtasks too.
