Thank you professor pride! I’m a lesbian and while your videos have personally helped me accept myself, I’m glad I can show this to my neighbor. They’re a little 12 year old kid whose non-binary. I know they aren’t my kid but I look out for them as though they were my own - helping them with homework, keep them company when they’re lonely, watch anime with them.

I remember back in 2010 or 2011 when I was 10 and first heard about someone changing their gender. I considered transitioning myself. I was a tomboy and enjoyed hanging out with the boys more than the girls and often ended up not hanging out with people, because people assumed I was girly and sometimes teased me when I hung out with someone of the opposite gender. I've never really been one to make drastic changes, however. The idea of changing my name felt strange, and I liked the one I had. I didn't want medical transitioning to harm my ability to reproduce, and I transitioning would likely make my mother encourage me to get short hair even more so than she already did. I didn't transition, but I got a special respect for transgender people. Nowadays, knowing more about transgender, and what it can be, I'm still uncertain about my gender identity. I could be non-binary or gender fluid. A few times I've imagined having a machine that could send my consciousness into a different body like in the movie Avatar, except the other body would be human too and be a male version of me. Something tells me I would enjoy being in that male body the most. For simplicity however, I've stuck to identifying by my gender assigned at birth, because I feel ok with that too.

I'm currently trying to decide between he/she/they, she/they and they/them as an afab. I already changed my name (can't make it official due to reasons I'm more than happy to talk about if you're interested) but only close friends and my boyfriend know about it. And they are cool with it actually. One of them is still dead naming me sometimes but he's really trying to get it right, so I appreciate his effort. My chosen name is Ashley btw.

I remember when I came out as transgender & bisexual to my parents. They wanted me to do research before my transition as in MTF. This channel has helped me so much. I can listen to the facts as many times as I want. Re-watch the videos so I can take notes. Along with a lot more. I'm thankful for this channel. They have everything you need. Plus, the channel is managed by people like Matt who know A LOT about being LGBTQ+, the facts and so much more. If I had to suggest a great LGBTQ+ organization. I'd definitely pick this channel. 1,000%

Intersex is a broad term that doesn't just apply to those who are a "true hermaphrodite" or ambiguous genitalia, or even karyotype differences. This video is incredibly helpful! I'm a character designer and I've made a few trans characters. I'm not exactly trans, though. I'm gender fluid (not exactly sure where I fit between trans and sis) but I don't think I completely understand trans people enough to fully develop a trans character. I'm waiting until I get the demo of my game out, and then set up a paytron, before I hire a few trans people to talk to because maybe I would be able to pay them more than what I could now. But in the meantime, things like this are very helpful! One question I had a while back was if trans men could wear dresses. This was for my character (FTM). I had drawn him wearing a dress a few times, but then I thought maybe that was insulting because in this society dresses are typically a female thing. And so I thought that maybe it would remind that character of being female, which I really didn't want to do. After a little search on Google I found some things on reddit and stuff that said it was okay. Once again I really cant wait until I can hire some trans people so I can ask them things without looking things up and possibly getting those things wrong.
@ConriWolf28
@ConriWolf28 2 года назад
Hello. FTM myself here. Some trans males wear dresses and that's ok. Some trans females wear suits and that's ok too. I personally don't think it's insulting for trans males to wear dresses because anyone should be able to wear whatever they want to express themselves. We all express ourselves one way of another and any males wearing dresses imo should be normalized. I appreciate your awareness though on not wanting to insult others and I wish you the best of luck on your character designs!

@@ConriWolf28 hello! Thank you for confirming that fact! It's a little nerve wracking to make diverse characters because I'm always afraid I'm going to get something wrong and make it insulting. So its very helpful to hear any sort of advice from people like you! Thank so so much!!! And now I can make some sort of accidental ally bit! Something along the lines of a transphobic person saying that my trans characters is just a man in a dress (like they're trying to be transphobic but they think that hes MTF) and the hes like:"yes! Someone gets it!!" Then the transphobe is like:"wait what?" Idk, how does that sound?

Maybe sell it to them as a really tight sports bra? I don't even mean actually lie to them, but let's be real, boobs can sometimes get in the way, especially in sports. I learned that the hard way while doing some archery on vacation, and frequently hitting mine with the bowstring. So you can tell them, that yours sometimes get in your way and you don't feel comfortable during certain activities. You could also say, it's for cosplay, to better play a character, really get into the feeling and be able to depict a masculine (or neutral) physique. After all, if you really want to explore yourself like that, but don't feel absolutely safe in your current environment, it's okay and handy to have a little white lie to hide behind, to protect yourself from hurt, physical or emotional. Hope everything goes well for you! And it's okay to be unsure of your gender identity, you can wear what you want to wear, you're always valid and deservant of love, kindness and respect! I wish you all the best! ☮🕊😘🌈❤🧡💛💚💙💜💗🤍🖤🤎🏳‍🌈🏳‍⚧🤗🕊☮

im not sure where you are located globally, but ive recently ordered myself an 'underworks' binder (my preferred brand) directly from the WALMART website! im in canada, and 'underworks' is based in the US, so if you're in north america i wouldnt assume it to be a problem :) you could either have a walmart order/package shipped to you (which wouldnt set off any red flags, most likely), or if you have a store near by, can arrange to have it delivered to the store and pick it up there yourself. also if need be, pre-paid credit cards are always available at most gas stations, pharmacies, many grocery stores, etc if you dont have a card of your own to use. i hope this helps 🤞 good luck, make sure to size yourself properly, take binder breaks during the day and avoid putting it in the dryer to maintain the elasticity :)

I deeply appreciate this, especially the section about trans people in sports. I'm agender and transmasculine, so I got really uncomfortable when I was asked if I wanted to join a women's disc golf league. Thankfully, disc golf isn't as divided by the gender binary as most other sports, so there are tournaments in which everyone plays in the same bracket regardless of gender, which is really nice.

Heyhey! Great video. I do enjoy your channel! A friendly head's up: Please double check your information regarding "Do transgender people have periods?". Specifically your statement starting at 16:55 where you say that transgender women who have undergone bottom surgery and have a uterus instead of a penis would have a period. If someone does not have ovaries (to create the egg, which is then shed along the uterine linings -which is essentially the blood we see and refer to as a 'period'), no period can actually be produced, to eventually be shed and bleed out monthly. Unfortunately, it is not yet possible to surgically transplant reproductive systems as of yet.. :( As for transgender men (or any gender identity that was assigned female at birth), we can still have our period, even without bottom surgery. I can not personally speak regarding the effects of hormone blockers and their effectiveness as I have no information, myself. But transgender men who’s bodies have naturally started to menstruate monthly can still experience regular monthly periods. Many who medically transition will notice their period will stop if they chose to start taking Testosterone for their Hormone Replacement Therapy (I had 3 after I started T and nothing since February 2016). Also, should a transgender man decide to undergo a hysterectomy, this will of course remove the body’s need to create a period to bleed monthly. If he should choose to undergo bottom surgery, he will need to have a hysterectomy first. Sending much love and support! Happy pride month! :)

Ok. I’m asking this in good faith, I promise. Every time the trans athlete thing is brought up it seems you always assume they are on hormones or puberty blockers. Now, let’s say a person is a trans woman, but they have no desire to medically transition. I want to know what you say here, because it almost always seems like that is never talked about. On that topic, it seems like people only ever talk as if the only medical option is a full swap of hormones. Is this true? Or is there a nonbinary neither option and/or even a both? Taking it back around, so basically if you aren’t comfortable identifying as a man or woman, being nonbinary, are you even allowed to play sports because there are only men’s and women’s leagues?(by allowed I include being told to just choose a side as being disallowed, because, just like bathrooms, they aren’t included in the gendered lines man or woman.)
@PoweredByRainbows
@PoweredByRainbows Год назад
So first, let’s say someone isn’t on puberty blockers or hormones and still wants to compete in sporting programs. That is the only instance when the IOC says they should compete in the gendered sport matching their sex assigned at birth. We don’t necessarily agree with that but that is the highest ranking sporting officials in the world so that’s what a lot of smaller sporting programs follow or should follow. As far as non-binary people go, they are allowed to compete in either mens or women sports teams because there is no current option for a non-binary team. I think one day we’ll get to a place where gendered sports are a mute issue and we have unisex everything but for now, that’s pretty much their option.
