I remember that I just turned 12 years old when Rambo First Blood came out. I grew up on a small farm in upstate NY, we had over 120 acres with a river on our property, and plenty of woods. I scrounged and saved up my allowance from my assigned farm chores and bought that cheap Tiawan made "The Survivor" that they had at Kmart. It had that round liquid filled compass, 2 split key rings, hollow handle with fishing line, sinkers, hooks, matches, wood cutting wire and 2 sewing needles. I bought the camo version with a painted black blade. I actually still have it. Of course, I can certainly recognize what a cheap piece of crap it is, but I didn't see it that way one little bit back in 1982. I loved that thing. Took it camping with me all the time with my buddies, who they bought the same knife. We loved those knives, they made us feel cool, like little green berets in battle. Even though the sheath which was constructed of bonded leather (not the vinyl one) broke apart from heavy use, I always took care of the knife. I didn't throw mine at trees as common sense told me the compass could easily bust open. Boy does that knife bring back old memories!! We would construct a decent 2 to 3 man shelter out of feed sacks and bailing twine, build a fire, stick our knives into a log by the fire pit and just sit there feeling good about ourselves!!! Thanks for the video!!

@poolee77 6 лет назад
That's actually not true. The Jimmy Lile knives (used in the movie) ARE REAL, tough as hell knives. Made by a real knife maker - Jimmy Lile. The fact that they actually had a custom maker make a practical knife for the moves is pretty cool, story is he knew Stallone personally and was asked to make a knife to fit the character of Rambo. The handles on these real "First Blood" knives are press-fit to the blade tang not screw on like cheaper movie replica knives and Chinese knock-offs. I would 100% trust this design for hard-use. (I wouldn't actually use this knife due to the value and history though).

Watch carefully the scenes where Rambo holds the knife to Teasle's throat when he has him up against the tree, and again when he holds the knife on the guy driving the truck. Also, check out the history page on the site Rambo-knife.com and read the paragraph "The Purpose" written by Jimmmy Lile where he lays out his personal specifications for the knife he designed.
