Dora is about to undergo some major functional & cosmetic changes over the next few months.
In this video, we take you on a tour of our new, but old, Quintrex Explorer, fondly named Dora.
Our current list of things to do:
- Install new sounders (especially bow mounted)
- Create a platform for a bow mounted electric motor
- Make the casting deck bigger and safer
- Include storage into the casting deck
- Tidy up the finalised wiring
- Link and Sync the electric motor with the sounders
- Service the 4Stroke 25hp Yamaha Motor
- Build a rear casting deck
- Suss out a way to create a rod locker
- Build a livewell
+ Way more stuff!

Hugh thumbs up! That was fantastic, I dream of buying a small tinny and transforming it into a fishing weapon. I can't wait for the future installments of this series. My experience with boats is nil and some of the tech talk goes sailing over my head but it is still really enjoyable. Keep up the great work. Thank you.

great little boat you have there. what paint did you use for the repairs around fittings, did you use an etch primer?

Ben Law hey Ben, used an etch primer and a not glass enamel paint afterwards. Not the cleanest finish with a brush, with an airbrush or airgun has a much smoother finish.

@@GriftCo did you have any problems getting the etch primer to stick? Im doing some spots around ss fittings and im some spots the etch primer is crinkling up around the edges of the bare aluminium and old paint.

@@benlaw6826 Hey Ben, I don't think I had any trouble. Did you make sure to clean the surface well before applying? I generally use Wax and Grease remover, or if it's totally bare ally I've been able to use Acetone.

Hey mate, your nav lights aren't legal. They cant be flat like that, you will have to fold up some ally plate to 90 deg and fix to that so the port light cannot be seen from starboard side and vice versa.

Interesting Hooker! I recently changed these up when we put the motorguide on the front and moved them from the side and had them facing outwards, the cops checked us out one day and they said even then they weren't quite right. I'll have to have a closer look and fix them up next time I unwrap the boat!

@@GriftCo Just to clarify, the lights you have should be side mounted. Both of the lights should be seen at 180 degrees except for the all round white light for obvious reasons. Essentially an oncoming boat passing you should be able to navigate to your port side seeing the red port and white all round light which tells them you are on coming and they are passing on the correct side, likewise an overtaking boat depending on placement should be able to see your starboard green starboard and white all round light as they overtake.

@@GnomeL2B Thanks Gnome! I actually sorted this all out last weekend (or at least I think I did). Appreciate the time put into your response, makes the law a lot clearer.
