I’m definitely interested in how PMs can make themselves more valuable! Especially because of the new methods of project management (like agile), I’m curious to know if you’ll forever have to get new certifications to keep up with the changes. Loved this Ire!!
Thank you baby girl !!! Love yah too! And I will defo bring out this videos shortly. with the whole PM qualification thing, honestly in my opinion (and I may be wrong) but I think once you have 3 years of solid PM experience under your belt, all that qualification thing, don’t really matter as much. Obvs I’m only speaking from my experience working in tech. But I’ll try to ask around too !
Oooh wooooow! I completed my PRINCE2 Agile certification and started a new role as Digital Change Manager about 6 months ago and I've never come across content from a black woman AND from the UK in the role!! I'm hoping to start contracting next year so I'm a #newsubscriber loving the content and I've only watched about 2 videos so far!!
Hey girly !!! And thanks for watching my videos. We black, we female , we in the Uk, we exist 😭😅. Love to meet another babe in PM too. Congrats on your recent role. Contracting could be fun, never done it myself and I doubt I will anytime soon. But love that. Keep shining 🎉
Beautiful, thanks for always sharing. I'm a newbie, currently an assistant store manager and looking to fo fully in to PM. And yes please do share how to stay relevant as a PM
Hi Ire. I'm in between roles and thought to look at some self development videos on you tube. Stumbled on your video and have kept coming back since. I looove your videos- content and delivery. Thanks for giving back!
Hey Fam. Here from Angola (Africa) this video actually mapped all the things that I love about PM. Please do a video about how to be more valuable as a Project Manager. Peace
So I did a little research, I looked up project lead, which is a real role , they are the visual creators and help with encouraging their team, will a PMC help me get a job like that as well!!
Hey, any role with project experience will help you get into a project lead role. Obvs look at the JD, make sure you’re actually doing project work not scut work
Great video! I'm looking into a transition into the PM field and also value a healthy work/life balance. As someone who is a little concerned about the related stress of this field, how often do you find yourself working late and unable to leave work "at work"?
Hey there , and thank you . Erm I think it varies like depending on the demand or the targets on the project at the time. So for example , I’ve got a very key milestone to hit on my current project by end of week, so the last few days I’ve been working from like 7-9. But from Monday , I’m gonna be back to a chilled 9/5 and I think In 2 weeks time, whilst we are just waiting for test reports, I’ll basically be getting paid to do nothing. So it depends. It can be very intense at times. But there can also be a lot of down time: depending on the project and company !
Thanks for the great video, I was just wondering what project management qualifications you would think are best for event project management. I've been thinking of doing APM, but not sure.
Hey!! Thanks for all of this valuable information. I’m currently working in HR as a recruiter and I have about 5 years of HR experience. About how long would you say it takes someone to transfer into Project Management. I’m also looking into the Project Management course at Google.
Hey! So like transfer? I donno. For some people they are able to demonstrate transferable skills straight away and the company takes a chance on them, others need to do some certs to get some traction on their cv first. So really it depends, there is no one straight path unfortunately
Hey, first of all depends on what type of project management you are doing: assuming IT. It’s helpful but not essential: I’ve tended to learn everything technical on the job
Hey Yerp there are in the UK. Quite a lot as they are in demand now, but it’s also very competitive. Not sure how it is like in other places around the work however
You’ll need to check, I donno about sponsorships. And the ‘readily available’ makes it sound like the job will be easy to get…. No job in project management is easy to get, sponsorship or no sponsorship, it is a very competitive field
If you wonna be a scrum master or work in sw dev then yeah. Anything else then it ain’t actually that useful. I’ve never delivered agile projects , but I have a scrum qualification and AgilePM
