Had a Junior 2 and a Junior T. This buggy and a slot machine motor started it all for me. 30 year later and I’m still hooked

I had one of those too! I wish I still had it! It was my very first kit that I had to build!

I had a Junior 2 and a few years later added a XX transmission to it. Ran a Onyx 14T double motor.

I remember they liked this chassis better for racing and started using it if I'm not mistaken

Yep! It led to the JrxPro SE!

I found a JRX2 a while back for $40. The drivetrain is very smooth. It just had a broken trailing arm support bracket/body mount and the body is a mess, but once I got the servo secured it ran great. That and the Kyosho Optima Mid SE were the 2 old cars I'd wanted since I saw them in RC Car Action 30 years ago, and somehow I got lucky and found both of them for next to nothing.

First real racer I had was a JRX2 and got the JRX-PRO conversion kit that losi sold just before the actual JRX-PRO came out. I'd love to find a new in box JRX-PRO conversion kit and a JRX2 kit. Also am after a XXT new in box and a couple of hydrodrives and all the spur options and fluid options

Great Losi history you have there! I have the box to that conversion kit- and it's the misspelled version! It says "Jrx2 Proformanance kit" 🤣

@@vintagerctour5302 all I remember was it was a plain black box with a simple lable on it if I am not mistaken. The kit had the carbon chassis that was longer the front shock package the whole rear suspension package a body and I want to say there was a transmission some sort of part. Basically it was a whole car minus screws and a rear bulkhead lol. God I can't believe I remember that

@@vintagerctour5302 hey Chuck, quick questions for you since you are the Losi Guru... I picked up a XXT G+ in very nice condition but I noticed that the chassis says "L"... shouldn't it have the "XL" chassis stock? I have a nice G+ body for it but the holes don't line up with the body mounts. I was thinking about buying and using a TBG XXT CR body instead and was hoping that it would work with the "L" chassis or should I get the standard XXT body?

I'm starting to restor my original junior 2 also. I've had I since I was 12, I'm 41 now. Found a few parts on ebay but not much. Any other good places to locate vintage losi parts?

Hey I have a question for you Vintage RC and or anyone else, Does the geometry of the suspension and limited parts availability keep these cars from competing with modern cars if you had a modern motor in it and electrics and servos? I really like the idea of taking one of these vintage cars and competing with the new cars at the track. I’m just wondering if that’s even feasible
@vintagerctour5302
@vintagerctour5302 3 года назад
I'd say the biggest limitation is the rear motor layout. It won't be as quick on today's clay tracks. Won't have enough steering. Parts are definitely the next most limiting factor. You almost need a spare car to ensure you have any part you may break. Those are my thoughts anyway.
@63niceguyeddie

Currently working on a Junior 2 are most parts interchangeable with the pro se? Do you have a source for good research?
@vintagerctour5302
@vintagerctour5302 2 года назад
A lot of parts are interchangeable, yeah. The chassis', front arms, shocks & towers are all different. You can find manuals online for part # references.

Like a lot of us Vintage Losi fans I would have loved a 1/10 re-release but I'm still excited to have any modern example of the iconic Jrx2! I can't wait to get mine- I have a few ideas on how to give it even more detail & accuracy. Stay tuned for a video from me!!

@Vintage R/C Tour I've never had the chance to own a 10th scale version. originals are far out of my range but they could simply just release the car with stampings in the parts that clearly denote a 2022 part. then you would not touch the original market, and allow others to simply run the 2022 car or repair an original but be obviously new parts.

An amazing time capsule. Just amazing and great video once again buddy. I'm curious with your wealth of RC knowledge. What you would happen to know about the ofnas? the reason I ask is cuz that happened upon a deal where I picked up a 20-year-old violator that's never been used or ran. But the point 26 nitro on it. I was curious if it had value or if it was just something that I keep for myself on the shelf?
@vintagerctour5302
@vintagerctour5302 3 года назад
Thanks for your kind words for me & the channel! You know, I've had a fair share of nitro cars over the years but never a single OFNA vehicle. Like all older cars, I'm sure it is valuable or special to someone. Maybe there is an OFNA FB page out there where you can gauge interest. Hope that helps! Thanks again!

Hello, I was so excited when I came across this. My brother had a JR2 and I had a JRT growing up. You had mentioned possibly flipping this vehicle. Do you have an avenue where you typically sell items, or is it more of a local contact kind of deal? Thanks, Ben P

There are specific vintage Losi groups on FB as well as general vintage R/C groups too. Those seem to be the best ways to get these cars in front of the right eyes!

Damn, y' know or should I say you don't know or wouldn't know obviously how you present yourself as a nice cool RC geek but you messed it up when you said the words flip and then got snobby about the condition of the box alone even before you opened it, most of us would be damn proud to have a piece of it in any condition, I soon got the impression that your just one of them snobby geeks.
