The Proof is awesome for headshaving - use a Feather yellow blade and it is immense. Great efficiency and zero nicks/cuts.

Working on the soap discussion - still learning how to discuss "Scent" - it's such a complex and hard thing to describe. We all know the Proof rocks right - but the new logo is 🔥🚒 Thanks so much Mike for watching!

@@SubieShaves Yeah it's hard especially for me as most I don't get all the different notes I just get one main scent. Proof definitely looks like it has improved all around

It is a pretty looking razor and that intro made it look great. Looks the the V2 has some good upgrades compared to the V1. Pretty cool label on the soap and the scent sounds very nice. Great video as alwways.

Sure thing, appreciate you watching! I am still REALLY hopeful that we will see an adjustment spring kit sold by them, maybe a mild and aggressive version, but overall I have been very happy with the updated razor! Thanks again for the comment and the support!

Great Josh! Nice soap with a great scent and it really made a great lather. All the different regulations with Europe ,England, and even our own, really can make prices pretty crazy. I know the things we make here are quite expensive there and vise versa. The Proof looks good and it's great that they made some changes to make it even better. The Zenith SS Horse Hair is awesome and I love it for painting on lather. It is a different experience using that knot as it doesn't have much backbone and the knot is smaller than most of my brushes, but when it comes to whipping up a smooth lather, I don't have anything like it. It's like a bubble eraser! Take care buddy!

@@SubieShaves I'm going to investigate it over the weekend. I have the OneBlade and its a great shave but I'm a bit irritated I'm constrained to having to use a proprietorial blade.... so this looks like the best of all worlds ?!?

At what point do you consider your lather perfectly hydrated and ready to shave? At what point have you gone too far or not enough?
@SubieShaves
@SubieShaves 4 месяца назад
For me personally, and keep in mind it varies person to person, lather hydration is optimal when it no longer is sticking to the bristles. Basically when you are seeing it "release" and not stay whipped up or built up in the brush. A sign of a excellent lather is as you are painting it on, the brush tip will look like a actual paint brush, shiny, and wet. I often aim for a lather that looks almost like 1-2 hour wet paint thats been sitting in a roller tray if that helps at all. Wet but not stiff. Chocolate Pudding texture, if not like 1 step wetter. For some guys through that's too much, and they like to see the lather stay in place - all that matters is what works for you, what protects your skin, and what you have the best experience with. That said - I do think there are a few tell tell signs you're not doing it right (again IMHO)- lather that is PEAKY like whipped cream often has too much air/ had too much pressure added while water is added. it looks ok, but usually is considered less protective/ slick. Cakey lather - often looks like dry paint as it goes on, looks sticky, and often causes poor glide. Usually this type of lather actually stays on even after the stroke is complete. Sadly a well loaded brush without water is not much help. Lastly - foamy! Think of hand soap/ dish soap bubbles. Again more of a "add more product" type of error usually. Add enough soap it actually is workable when loading - that's why I scoop - I can see just how much I loaded. Again just my thoughts, you'll see my lather here changes daily - it's a practice and art form I work on every time I shave 👍

@@SubieShaves Thank you Mr. Sube! That's one of the best descriptions I've heard and I've been on the forums for years. My issues with lather is why I have turned to a lot of brushless stuff like Cremo forever, but when I get lather correct it's the best shaves ever. So I'm trying to figure out the best ways. Thanks again and please keep up with the great videos!

I didn't like the first razor they had due to sticking. Does this one stick while shaving also is it the same blade gap? Is it compatible to the twig or thorn shave?
@SubieShaves
@SubieShaves 4 месяца назад
That's why they redesigned the cap and the spring mechanism. It puts a little more force and also channels the soap a little better IMHO. It's hard to compare the V1 to the V2, I love the V1 so take it for what it's worth, but the V2 does feel substantially upgraded. Better Magnet's as well. Gap wise - it is the same - but angle is not. I spoke to them about it, during their design phase, and they chose to change the angle to a slightly more aggressive one to improve both the head pivoting range and efficiency. These changes were done with the mindset that one day they could offer a set, similar to Rockwell, aggressive/medium/mild cap and spring combo (not sure if that's still in the pipeline). As is, it's similar to taking a straight razor at a 35 degree rather than a 30 if that makes sense - then letting the pivot go from 35 down to like 25. Those are not the actual angles (not sure of them) but that should give you the theory behind how they increased the efficiency. Comparable to the Thorn and Twig in that it uses 1/2 DEs but that's about it. The handle being longer, the material being different, the pivot, these are all things that make it pretty different and hard to compare. Personally I love the Thorn, and still reach for it, but I do like the autopilot nature of the Proof 👍 Thanks for the question! As is

Nice vid. Id have to pass on this one. I had the V1, and is was way too mild. It was really expensive for a razor I never use.

@@SubieShaves Ill have to eat some crow here. I figured Id give it a shot after I didn't have the best results with the Parker Solo Edge. Whatever changes they made def worked. Shave is much more efficient with the same absence of blade feel. I'm very pleased this time around.
