I'm always so impressed that Renn actually travels different places around his town to film stuff. The extra effort makes the videos so much more entertaining.
Because RU-vid's algorithm sucks, plain and simple. I just discovered this guy a few months ago in a recommended video, think it was off an Act Man's video.
@@DCGMatthew1 I was asking what a game "like the cold war" would be like? It struck me as a very strange thing to say. Would a CoD game taking place during the Vietnam or Korean war be Cold War-Like? What about an Assassin's Creed Game revolving around any of the numerous Rebellions and Civil Wars taking place. Would a Metal Gear Solid Game focused around spying between the U.S. and U.S.S.R. be accurate? What about being a business-person during the recovery period in any Capitalist country during the Civil War? How about a Tetris game themed around the CIA's brainwashing and drug testing programs. Would a farming simulator based on the Communes not yet controlled by the U.S.S.R. be a good fit? Is Ice Hockey for the NES representative of the Cold War considering two of the playable teams only existed during the cold war? It is just such a strange standard to set for a video game to reach. It is like a less specific "It really makes you FEEL like Spiderman." Wtf does that mean if you change it from "Spiderman" to "a period of heightened tensions over 45 years that includes events all over the globe shortly after the advent of an extinction-level weapon."
@@haruhirogrimgar6047 Well, the game says it takes place during the Cold War but it doesn't feel it at all. I mean, half the attachments in the game weren't even a thing during the Cold War, and for the ones that did, looked nothing like they do in the game. I also don't like the over-the-top Hollywood action. If you're going to say the Cold War was from 1947 to 1991 I already know that as well. But this game feels nothing like any conflict that would've happened during that entire period of time.
The problem with a COD "Cold War" is that I really don't trust Activision to make a game that portrays it in any realistic way... The era was a bit more complicated than "muricans blowing away evil commies and saving the day". From an American point of view the Cold War was simple, but from the perspective of the rest of the world, the US was just as scary if not scarier than the USSR.
Yea, that's why people found the parts in Black Ops 1 and 2 in parts other than the well known to be interesting. Like Laos in BO1, I didn't knew we got in there. And it turn out to be a clusterfuck that ultimately made Laos into Communism. Then there's the BO2 with Afghanistan and the whole Soviet War there, which real life research leads to the Taliban. Also clusterfuck on our end. Then there's the whole thing in Panama thing and the Nicaragua Contras, which were also real. That is what made the first two BO games interesting. They tell us this in the setting and cutscenes of the missions. Then tell us, in the US's perspective, that we did a good thing. But go into the rabbit hole, and you wonder how will this bite us in the ass later down the road in real life.
Mexican COD channel that just stumbled upon your video. I am amazed by the witty writing, amazing production value and just fantastic content you've made, I had to insta-sub after watching this video. Keep up the good work!
7:27 damn this guy needs more subs. the amount of physical pain he puts himself through. And he walked through that bush too! btw can you do a review on Titanfall 2? I know its four years old but ever since you said you loved it in the apex vid Ive always wanted to hear your opinion on it
Congratulations for the devs who did a lot of impressive work, shame on the publishers and higher-ups that rushed them and almost definitely treated them like dirt.
I think I heard it was supposed to be released by then, but the COD they were gonna release for 2020 had so many issues that they cancelled the project and cut a year off cold ward's production cycle. I must stress that I heard this through a rumor, but considering how Activision runs its franchises, it wouldn't surprise me. Edit: nevermind, he covered that. But still, Activision sucks, and they'll keep repeating a cycle that burns out more and more every time they use it.
Meh don't think meme virus effects development all that much when were talking about Vidya. At least in other software dev areas remote work is no biggy. I'd argue better.
The FPS Russia reference took me back, the Blood Dragon music enthralled me, the fever dream transitions made this video fly by (in a good way), and the horrifying Reagan face will haunt my dreams. All in all, this video made me feel exactly like the Cold War campaign did. Edit: I also want to add that you must have looked like an absolutely insane conspiracy theorist, filming videos in the park in all camo with a bulletin board. 😂 Love it!
The fact that every russian, Vietnamese, cubin all had a m1911 in there holster like really cant add a Makarov. You also get a degal in the russian embassy mission that only have 8 shots and cant be found anywhere else in the game. Also could have given the germans aks why did every german have a mp5 made no sense.
Cod should definitely experiment with making an Immersive sim-type campaign that gives the player multiple ways to finish the level, much like deus ex or dishonored
One thing I never got with the way they designed Reagan is that isn't the campaign where he first shows up taking place in 1980-1981? Because he looks more like how he did in his second term 1984-1988, than his first term. I can't recall any images from that time where he looks THAT old other than during his second term.
If you look Renn up on Wikipedia you'll see that his first job was as an eagle tamer with a specialization in bald eagle communications. Really impactful stuff.
WHAT A GREAT V I D! Been watching since the Dead Rising 4 was rushed vid and holy fuck your content only gets better and better, your combination between comedy, actual criticism and being concise make your vids soooooo good!
Multiple campaign crashes, gameplay and cutscene lag in single player. Once it even deleted my entire campaign save on realism before on the second to last mission.
The only reason I could see why they didn’t do the thing to bell from the beginning is because of one of the endings. That he still won’t give up the information and the location and turn right back on everyone.
The campaign was so disappointing. Really thought that it would be a faithful and meaningful sequel to the original Black Ops, but... nope. A simple cash grab.
The spelling with the bullets was crazy, I couldn't believe my eyes, so I watched it a couple of times and now I'm convinced this guy has crazy skills, mad crazy skills.
Another great video by my good man, Renn! Also, I like your mom. Imma have to go look her up IF you know what I mean heh heh. I reckon I'll start at the Hub! That's where all mom's go!
Wow thanks for the heart! When you hit the million sub mark I'll be able to show this off as a collectors item! 😀 Seriously though, always appreciate your vids. Seeing you & Whitelight team up was like an Avengers moment only way cooler!
I commend your hard work on these videos. You had me laughing genuinely and I was feeling down before this video. So glad I clicked. Thank you for this.
The "scar" part is actually interesting and well executed. Every time you reload and Brad Pitt about it he tells a new backstory on "how he got his scar".
While playing the cold war campaign I used a turret to kill the enemies, but when I got out of it I was in an inescapable area. The checkpoint was there, so I had to restart the mission
I have a friend who works at Activision and he says how it works is that it's a zigzag development. First Year, they invent the game and have a small team working on scripts, plot, concept art, ect. And then the Second Year they have it on priority and prep it for release.
Anyone who's followed the development pretty much knows this anyway, since Sledgehammer was fired and Treyarch was only given 2 years instead of the usual 3 years to develop. They were basically forced ino the position they're in now.
The reason they didnt get into his brain from the start is because they needed to get bell on their side so if they injected him with the memory juice from the start,he would immediately turn on them because they didnt make any connection with him. All these missions where you hunt down perseus with adler is so they make bell trust our team so when he gets his old memories back,he would stay on our side and tell adler the true location of perseus.
Massive respect for all the time and effort you put into your videos. I edited one 10 minute video on the last of us 2 for my undergraduate studies class and it took over 20 hours to write a script, research, record, edit, etc.
Now I am starting to wonder if they rushed the VA casting too. Maybe they pulled a Splinter Cell Blacklist to rely on mo-cap actors over original voice acting? Maybe they rushed the script so hard the "onion" quote was a typo that no one had time to fix so they just rolled with it?
Just letting you know, this did not show up in my feed and the bell has been turned off by some reason. I only found out you uploaded thru the youtube stories. Great video tho! Im glad i found out you posted.
You're quite the outdoorsman. I love how you meshed the review with survival tactics for the wild. Very informative. 10/10, Thumbs up, would watch again.
I know you mentioned that the game looks colourful and cartoony but that’s kinda the point. Black ops was never really meant to be “realistic”. It wasn’t “realistic” back then and it definitely isn’t now.
I don't know why I was expecting the campaign to truly "finish" Black Ops 1. This game is just sad and is another reason why I haven't picked up COD for the past 3 or 4 games.
I love the fact Jingle Hells isn't even decorated out in Christmas stuff just the nuketown map shows they don't care and only care for multilayer. COD should come out every 2-3 years not yeae
Thanks renn, I too am a weirdo who enjoys main campaigns more than multiplayer. I absolutely loved last years MW campaign, I enjoyed the story, characters, and set pieces. I've never really bought or played the black ops campaigns and it seems i wont be playing this one either.
@Adolfthejewbaka _ well honestly modern warfare 2019 was the only call of duty I've bought... ever. I played the original modern warfare with my friend when I was a kid but never had a 360 of my own. I bought modern warfare cause it looked really good and I actually enjoyed it... so your statement barely applies to my situation.
