@Indy : well at a minimum, there appears to be a fairly different team of people working on Star Wars now. They're allegedly going for safe in E9, so we'll probably get something fairly similar to E7 in tone (while hopefully not being a ripoff of previous good SW films).
Thing is That the Disney trilogy never had a Creative team, they had no plan, no vision and lacked the Passion to create a story and instead went the easy way out and rehashed the story’s of movies we beloved as kids. Difference is that Mandalorian fulfills the promise, and has a plan, Baby Yoda, not to mention it’s diverse showing a great range of Alien species that were all but absent in the Disney trilogy. The mandalorian represents what Star Wars always should’ve been. Same could be said for Jedi fallen order too.
Honestly they never had a plan for Star wars. They threw a product out hoping people will like it no matter how bad it is. Then spend money on toys and stuff.
BYRON NOBLE they relied on our passion and nostalgia for the old trilogy, all just to milk us for all we were worth to Disney. I just hope that the Disney trilogy has a proper conclusion and not something that hit would strike the same notes as Return of the Jedi. Give us something new.
@Tom Ffrench Some people like Rogue One. I thought there was a couple of okay parts in it but that the movie didn't hold up as a prequel at all. I'd rather they gave us back the Legends line as an alternate timeline. Thrawn and Mara Jade, the Solo kids, etc. They wouldn't work as is, but I really thought that the Rogue/Wraith Squadron could have been super interesting.

I really really REALLY wanted her to be a first order spy. It would bandaid so many things. Rose hating the rebels because she believes they brainwashed her sister into dying for their cause. She lied to Holdo about Poe so Holdo would hate him. She went with Finn to derail his mission, forcing him to make stupid mistakes (like parking on a beach), saying stupid things to use his sympathy against him. Later, when he tries to sacrifice himself she tries to stop him but realizing neither of them died in the speeder crash, she said something stupid and kissed him. This is why the walkers did not blast them into bits but rather let them escape to the base.

The mandalorian is a little bit better than "ok" lol but I agree. this next movie has to bomb and Disney has to swallow their pride and clean house before they can get back on track.

Mandalorian is proof that abused Star Wars fans will eat anyone's shit no matter how mediocre it is. As long as Jar Jar isn't in charge. Star Wars is dead and Mandalorian won't save it.
Planning for the Mandalorian began in 2017 (before the general release of The Last Jedi), arguably based on the planned series Star Wars: Underworld which was conceived in 2009 but cancelled due to budget constraints (and the takeover of Disney). They were making this anyway.
Basically there was no creative team. It was just Katleen Kennedy changing everything in the story that will only satisfy her. Now she has no creative control and i think she is banned from the mandalorian production
Disney's a huge company with a lot of moving parts and long history, where as the problems with the New Trilogy are predominantly the effect of a handful of higher-ups.
Don't claim victory to quick Bandit, yes The Mandalorian is a good show but that does not mean the rest of the series is still not rubbish. Until episode Nine comes out and shows its good or bad declaring victory now would be to quick a rush. The damage done to the franchise already is crippling, most of the fans have left or reduced the amount they care for the franchise. the image is forever stained and toy sales are at rock bottom. Even if this is a "victory" it is a Pyrrhic victory at the best.

I'm pretty sure even going backs a few years The Mandalorian was going to be a Bobafett Movie that was going to be released but then Solo bombed because who's dumb idea was it to make a Han Solo movie without Harrison Ford. Remaking classic movies almost always fails. Though it still would have made money if they hadn't re shot 80 percent of the film. Like these things are in change all the time
The Mandalorian would have been the perfect Gary Stu opportunity as you have these legendary mysterious warriors capable of doing amazing things. BUT this guy gets his ass kicked constantly AND THEN overcomes which makes him endearing to us, the audience, unlike Rey who is the bestest evahr who can do no wrong
My theory: Episode 9 will still be awful, but once the sequel trilogy is over Disney will quickly move away from it. Probably starting with Disney+ shows like Mando and Obi-Wan. I think that’s probably why Mando was dropped before The Rise of Skywalker when really the marketing should focus fully on the movie right now. They want to remind fans that there will be good Star Wars to come, even if the movie is a dumpster fire.

@Tom Ffrench : following up my own reply to you from the other day: E8 was a very "not safe" movie, and look how that turned out. And it's not like RJ was known as a bad director, going in. E7 was pretty safe, and garnered pretty positive reviews and over $2B. Btw, I usually dislike when movies and shows are made "safe" myself. _American Horror Story_ has some serious problems, but I've still seen almost every episode because of how unafraid the writers are of giving something unique. The circumstances with the Star Wars franchise are just pretty unusual, where an E9 that takes risks and bombs could cost Disney a ton of money in the long run.
It's not over yet. Cray Cray KK is still there along with too many of her damned cronies. The fans haven't gotten an apology for the bullshit Lucasfilm PR has pulled. I wouldn't call 'The Mandalorian' proof in the least bit. If anything it's proof of one of the problems with Star Wars. And that other problem is unnecessary books, movies, shows etc. Like Rogue One, for example.

Indeed. I get the feeling however that at the end of the season of the Mandalorian, he's going to take off his helmet and BAM.....its going to be a woman. Pedro Pascal is a red herring to fool us. Its going to be a strong, independant woman that has been kicking the asses of all these men the whole time. And we're going to roll our eyes and then they'll say "See, you're all a bunch of sexist trolls"
I seriously doubt this at this point. First, we've seen him as a kid, and he is clearly a dude. Second, we've also seen a female Mandalorian, who had no issues displaying the fact she is a woman. Third, Favreau is at the helm of this project, and I point to Iron Man as proof of what he can do. And fourth, the Mandalorian I believe is a relatively small project compared to the movies. So small that besides being an Executive Producer just because she's the President, Kennedy probably doesn't really care about this project. It's small potatoes.
I can tell we are winning and i haven't even seen Mandalorian yet, i refuse to sign up for Disney +, I'm just gonna take my excitement towards Star Trek 4, so happy that's back 😁😁

Im still not going to the theater for rise of skywalker... mandalorian is enjoyable so far tho ..for a show ... rougue one was like 50% good, imo... ive yet to be blown away ... but ill be honest if that day comes ... i have spoken ;)

What? This isn't a war and shouldn't be a war. Nobody has won because the only fighting is pathetic bickering for people not accepting others' opinions. Nothing's changed other than the Mandalorian is getting better reception. If anything, wouldn't that be Disney's win for making a great show?
Damn this comment is one that I agree with yet want to counter. I'll start with the war, it should've never became a war but after the backlash from Disney due to the backlash Disney gained from Last Jedi, it kinda did become a war, a war between big corporations and the fans that keep them in business. Disney isn't going broke anytime soon but due to a massive push for a boycott on Star Wars because of last Jedi and Solo just looking bad from the start Disney saw a first major loss for Star Wars, followed by more losses with toys and movie sales for home media uses. Disney kinda saw the writing on the wall then, and right after when the Sonic stuff came out and Disney execs were able to see they could gain good will with fans again if they would stop being so antagonistic to those fans. That's where I think we saw the real end of this "war" the Mandalorian is just icing on the cake of win that the fans are sharing with Disney, if Disney had just listened to the fans from the start we wouldn't have had the war that never should've happened.

@@DavidBbski I gotta disagree that it's truly over now, Kathleen Kennedy's reign over Star Wars still hasn't ended, she was the one pushing most of the toxic fan shit that Rian Johnson began to spout, we can say that this is truly over after Episode 9 is out, and everyone can laugh at how truly awful the sequel trilogy was, it won't even go out like how the prequels went out with the best movie of that trilogy it's going to go out with a whimper and very little fan fare, if any at all. Well unless they end it with Luke waking up next to Mara Jade and then saying "That was a nightmare"
